  1. clocks were created for appointments if you asked the universe what time it was, it would reply "now"

  2. The short stick issue would be compounded by a ride leader hauling @ss for 80 miles then stopping in BFE nowhere near ⛽️ 😳 just saying….

  4. When I had tiny leaks on my tank, I went to replace the O-rings under the flange fittings. I noticed that the screw inserts that attach the flange to the tank had pulled out a tiny bit, creating bulges in the tank plastic. This meant that the clamping of the O-ring was reduced so allowing leaks. Running a file across the tank insert face reduced the bulging at the inserts without touching the sealing face.

  5. He may win his appeal. The stewards do seem incompetent. But if I were them and Marc wins his appeal I would simply issue a new penalty to Marc for not serving the original penalty. And I would make the penalty for not serving the original penalty more severe than the original penalty. It stands to reason that a penalty for not serving a penalty would be more than the original penalty. But as the stewards seem to be incompetent I don't think they are smart enough to do that. It sucks that he will have taken out another racer, and ruined the race of a second racer, and not serve a penalty. While the stewards do seem incompetent, the penalty was justified and should be served. The incompetence of the stewards is no excuse. Marc had no one to blame but himself.

  6. In US "sport-touring", 200 miles has often been considered a desirable fuel range goal. The way I ride mySport, fueling at 150-160 is comfortable. Sure I've made it to 175, but also had to tip-slosh at 165. I have also ridden sport-tours with a "short stick" in the group that required fuel closer to the 100 mile mark. Not the right tool for the job, IMO . . .

  7. That indicates that one should avoid over tightening those screws, doesn't it?

  8. Installation complete and road tested. All is well. Dial and needle lighting go thru switched power, the GPS runs direct to the battery. Was surprised that the GPS current draw (pre- and post signal acquisition) was just over 100mA, which explains why my battery was so low after sitting for two days. Fortunately, I can break the connection to the battery easily to avoid running it down. Oh...Speedhut is discontinuing their current gauge models ("EL lighting") and replacing them with "LED lighting" 1 May 2023. They will look different at night, so if you're running a Speedhut/OEM combo and thinking of replacing the OEM in the future, you might want to get your order in. I was also told the face of the new gauge has a slightly different "texture" and will also not match. On the plus side...no inverter required for lighting!

  9. I just got this new clock, but having trouble figuring out how to mount it to the Sport . . .

  10. The taller relays have been in mySport many years (twenty?) with no problem. I currently have the Picker in Position #1. Seat pans varied over the model range, so gstallons' clearance check is good method.

  11. Brings me full circle to say that best practice on our V11 is to simply run the same high-current (5-pin) relay in all five positions. As of April 2023, this looks like the best candidate (likely available worldwide): Picker Components PC782-1C-12S-R-X (avaiable from DigiKey) Datasheet And, yes, as @Speedfrog says, "$2.50US, each" . . .

  12. Quite rightly. Regardless of how much current is going through the contact, if it starts bouncing there wil be "constant" arcing across the contact. That is, over time, the end for the relay.

  13. Yes, I know. I can see people's eyes glazing over as they read from here. Nevertheless, a quick word about coil resistance and power. I spoke once again to my electronic technician colleague. He confirmed that a solid state circuit providing the voltage to activate the coil of a relay would indeed be set up for a specific resistance, but the tolerance is likely to be very high. As long as the replacement has a resistance "in the same order of magnitude" it should be fine. He also confirmed the importance of a strong contact, particularly in a high vibration environment like in a motorcycle. Therefore docc's preference for a "stronger" coil is justified.

  14. It means fuel light doesn’t come on in 90 miles. I owned a 2020 Suzuki Katana 1000, the light would do this, give you gas station range anxiety. My 2001 V11 Sport does a little better, decent.

  15. Or you could buy a house with a sundial for the price of one of their timepieces... You wouldn't have to worry about grit bringing it to a halt and it would still indicate time a thousand years from now

  17. Yeah, a bummer about Binder in the feature race. It seemed like Binder was a candidate for a great race, given the wet conditions. A few people had bad races.

  18. Joan Mir injured himself in the Sprint race, yesterday in Argentina; he is skipping today's GP. Back luck for Honda then. They are out of their two factory riders. On another topic, I decided that the two days of MotoGP is a format I don't like. There is no way I am going to watch two races back to back on a Saturday and Sunday. Even if it is easier in the USA, because you can usually watch early in the morning.
