  3. Yes, one filament (running) should always be on. You are now in troubleshooting mode. Now do the opposite. Disconnect the front switch and reconnect the back brake switch. What happens? It almost sounds like a short in the front brake switch, but that's just conjecture at this point. Are you saying that you've never had a functioning brake light for as long as you've had the bike? What does the wiring for the bike look like? Like someone has messed with it a lot?
  4. Now we need to see a picture of the gloves!
  5. Brake light switches (lever and foot) might be stuck. I'd start there. Take them off and clean. Make sure switches work. Both can get dirty because of their location in the elements.

  11. Ugh. I thought I was being cute. Remember the two wires by the ODBII connector? That don't do anything? Well, one is a ground and the other I don't know. So I used the ground one for the grips. Heck, it was handy. Ignition on = Grips on. Bike running = Grips off. WTF? Turns out that mystery ground? Ungrounds when bike is running. Again... WTF. So I grounded to the ECU body and all is good, heated grips. Power is tapped from #6 fuse. Positaps are perfect for this. Oh, did I mention I had to pull the inner fender off because the fuse panel screws were stuck? Yeah, that was fun. Still cool here tomorrow but dammit if I don't have heated grips! Back to the DMV tomorrow. Maybe third time and I'll get the title...

  18. You don't need to pull the tank.. but you *do* need that ground wire. You'll be sorry if you let that 10 minute job slide. Does someone have a clearer picture of the regulator and how they ran the ground? It's tough to tell from Scud's photo.

  21. Because you can forget to turn off the grips and have a dead battery? These grips are nice because they remember your last setting when you turn off the bike. I didn't add the ground to the regulator this time. But now I know what it takes to pull the tank and will do it next time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Four. Two to get off the inner fender. One to get the light off and a screwdriver to get the lens off. While you don't have to remove the light it makes it a lot easier. Bike is already all back together so no deep cleaning. It wasn't too dirty. Side note: If you turn on the key before remembering to hook up the pressure regulator... it makes a puddle on the floor... Good chance to see what it looks under there. A full tank of fuel is heavy! Air filter looked new. Not sure how old the fuel filter is. Replaced the license plate light with an LED. Funny that I had just the right bulb. Put it in backwards the first time and blew #6 fuse. You can tell there weren't an German engineers working at Guzzi by how many things I had to take off just to get to this bulb! And every nut and screw was a different size! I still don't know where to pull auxiliary power from but the wires are back to the trunk now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. So I got a little carried away last night. Pulled all the bodywork and ran the charging cable and heated grip wiring from the front to the back... Still don't know where to pull the power for the grips but it's hopefully from the tail! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. I shaved down the light ridges on the throttle tube. The throttle side needed some light encouragement. But it also won't slip. The clutch side was a little lose. I put some silicone but it doesn't seem to be holding yet. All the wiring is ran but I still don't know where to tap the power from. I need a keyed source and only 5 amps, the grips pull 4 amps max. It's not uncommon to pull from a brake light line or something like that. Plus with the LED brake light now there's very little load on that circuit. Thoughts?
