  1. Adjusted the shifter pedal one more time and took a ride. 45F. Shifted really well, stiffer and crisper.
  2. I shortened the connector rod to bring pedal up. Seems ok. Not sure I have the right angles. Probably need to continue to fine tune this.
  3. Thanks for the description docc. I'm going to work on this again over the long weekend. It was 17 F this morning here so I have not gone out to the garage to fine tune the shifter.
  4. how do I do that? I'll take a pic of mine tomorrow. I believe its slot end points down and is nearly vertical. So would I loosen the hex nut and rotate clockwise to 6:30 or 7? or other direction?
  5. I did increase the length of the shifter arm. I'm going to have to decrease it some to lift the pedal up.
  6. Yes, ok. Took a ride. All the gears work. Shifter IS totally different, stiffer, crisper. I need to adjust the position of the shift lever up a bit for my foot, but other than that its a big improvement!
  7. I set it into the top hole. I can't really tell if it shifts better/different than before without taking it on the road.
  8. given the symptoms should I try shorter or longer? will change to upper hole and play around with rod length.

Alright, got a chance to test ride my bike after putting the extender in, caveat, my left leg is in one of those post trauma lower leg boots, long story, but doctor cleared me to do mild exercise yesterday. So I figured that included a brief test of motorcycle's new Lucky Phil shifter ... (I took off boot for the test and put on a regular boot)...Long story short, I'm going to have to make some adjustments, since it would not shift above 2nd gear. 1st, neutral and 2nd shifted fine. Can someone could explain how fine tune shifter? I'd appreciate it. I have the shift lever attached to the lower hole on the extender, so I figure I'll put it in the upper hole for starters. Looks basically parallel as in docc's example photo to my untrained eyes.
  10. I finally installed my Lucky Phil extender. PB Blaster helped on the middle bolt. My first mistake was using a flexible socket extender - total crap - 1/4" one twisted like rope and did nothing, 3/8 one broke immediately. Reached across with 13mm and 10mm sockets on solid extenders and a knuckle from the other side of the bike, same to tighten them up again. Mentioning sizes for posterity, so maybe save someone some time fumbling with sockets like me. Kind of a tight area laying on my back, no bike lift.
  11. I attempted to install my lucky phil extender today. the middle bolt seems pretty resistant. hit it worth some liquid wrench. will try again. have other people found this bolt to be a pain as well?
  12. Thanks, I'm going with ease of maintenance, looks, and if it ain't broke don't fix it! Might start to play around with creatively mounted side covers though ...
  13. honestly I like the pods, the easier maintenance, plus the look ... but I do like those plastic side pieces with the little italian colors that cover the airbox ...
  14. Also been reading the guzzidaig threads. Might be relevant. My bike has a power commander which I think was setup with these foam pods. I think this provides a layer of control similar to but before the ECU, if I understand correctly how the bike brain works. Can't really claim to understand the guzzidiag or power commander stuff entirely. So presumably my bike could be tuned to use the foam pods, correct?
  15. My V11 came to me with these foam air filters. Image is a bit pixilated but you get the idea. Reading various threads here I learn that some folks have strong feelings about the original air box being better due to air flow and other reasons. Pretty interesting discussions. I seem to recall other people advocating the naked look, like mine. These foam air filters *seem* ok, bike seems to run ok with them. I have the original airbox (reminds me of a hippo skull) but its missing most of the screws. Prior owner let me root thru his motorcycle screw collection and I found some approximate candidates that would at least fit in the threads for *most* of the locations, unsure about lengths for some. How big a deal or not is it to not use the original air box.?

  17. I received these exaust pipes when I bought my v11 last May. My bike has aftermarket pipes and so I have these if anyone is interested.
  18. I live in New England and sadly have to think about winterizing my Guzzi. This weekend may actually be in the low 70s. Hooray for global warming! I'll keep it going till they salt the roads. Interested to know what kind of service stand you all might recommend.

  20. I have an aftermarket center stand for v11 sport ... came with bike ... can post pics if you want.
  21. Maybe a Dremel tool with a diamond blade could cut with enough precision to remove seized bits without damaging plastic? In the past I've cut seized bolts top down (bisecting nut in half) vs horizontally with good results.
