No better way to approach that than with a "decent '04 Ballabio!" It occurs to me that, if Piaggio were just rebadging Aprilias (like DeTomaso tried to rebadge Benelli), why would they change any production facilities in Mandello?

The Moto Grappa Celebrate's Moto Guzzi's 100th!

Nice "apron!" Not the first I've seen you celebrate Moto Guzzi with! [Fourth South'n SpineRaid, 2008, Verona, Tennessee] -
Again, IMHO, an extraordinary, and forward thinking, celebration of the 100th anniversary to benefit Moto Guzzi, and all Guzzisti for time to come. Far more significant and forward thinking than a 100th Anniversary Sport (or LeMans) model for 2021 only, even if it takes some years to actually present that model . . .

https://imgzeit.com/tour I've had great results with imgzeit. My oldest son, v7cafe, developed it after PhotoBlockit crashed so much of our (and so many other forums') image content. He also helped us recover hundreds and hundreds of images they held hostage (the first time), and assisted Jaap when the forum needed a security upgrade. So, yeah, "I trust the developer."

It occurred to me that if Piaggio is actually doing a major refit of the factory in Mandello, that is probably a more devoted and lasting 100 year tribute to Moto Guzzi than simply putting a new model on the market . . .

You should, of course, ask the other inmates on the ward if you are, in fact, actually crazy. Let me be the first to say, "Absolutely not!" " . . . and me neither!" [I see alot to like about that Sport. And a few curiosities.]

Heh, I saw this view and thought, "Okay, the guy's got a fridge and Workshop Manual. This is gonna be okay."

@p6x linked me to a Moto Guzzi documentary by Automotoclub Storico Italiano. It's all in Italian, but the four minute trailer is delightful! (Starts at about 7:55)

Hey, JRD!! Yeah, funny thing, when member @Kane posted his avatar, I was struck by the view and pulled the Stucchi off. At about the same time I pulled the Zūmo off and really have enjoyed the simplicity and focus with just the instruments in the airstream. I do put the Stucchi back on for the SpineRaid to protect the Speedhut gauges from the weather. I'd hate to have them short out!

I thought it's swooshdave that is the Norwegian Thunder!

Seems @ctguzzi joined in 2012, but yes: 1st post. Not like he joined yesterday (we see that sometimes . . .) It is interesting the diversity of "for sale" images. The "casual walk around" like this is pretty common. On the other end of the scale are the skilled sellers that take multitudes of detail shots, especially of the various scrapes and dings. Looking forward to this poster returning and perhaps giving us some clarification on this interesting V11 Sport . . .

Wow, it seems like such a long time since autumn . . . Finally! (just watch out for all that winter road gravel . . .)

I've been thinking about how to spin this into something constructive . . . My favorite view of a motorcycle is probably prima del monte (before the mount) - the 3/4 view from the left side, just behind the bike looking forward over its waiting form. The last view of the bike before the rider should be looking only at the road and the path of travel . . . When looking at images of a V11 for sale, I look closely at the close side views of the driveline and chassis. These often reveal changes that have been made that I use to judge condition and the previous owners' intentions.

Congrats on getting out on her! Great starting point that covers the basics:
-
Commonly, the vent from the nipple under the fuel tank can be routed, or joined, with the overflow (which should be inspected for the troublesome one-way valve) behind the starter to below the gearbox. Common vacuum line is adequate. The 1/2” fuel line is unnecessary. The vacuum taps on the intake can be capped. Silicone caps are preferred. Rubber caps should be inspected and replaced as they dry, crack and loosen. The cad plated bracket that holds the bottom discharge hoses is through-bolted into the gearbox. Prepare for the fluid when this bolt comes out! Once the whole shebang is properly bagged and labeled for your parts pile, you can use the tool tray for, er well: tools!
-
Yep. Along with twenty feet of 1/2 fuel line. No, really: twenty. The whole mess weighs five pounds. Gonna be fun getting her the way you want. It will be interesting to hear what your think of the nuances between the RedFrame and the LongFrame.

So now I've just got to ride it home......

What a sight that will be! More pics! -
@gkaan, still very curious about your build date on your early Sport! Was it in 1999? (I'm likely also going to get you looking at your triple clamp numbers in search of the early steep rake Demon Triples . . . )
-
Awesome, @gkaan! Thanks for the follow-up!! She looks GREAT!! Pink-faded frame side plates are a very early production issue. I also spy the finned steel exhaust flanges (early production). So, very curious: what is the build date on your left side headstock tag?

That's a good question for @kool keef! Before the Leno video, I did not realize the original Morgan had a radiator in the cowl behind the engine. Seems the perfect place for an oil cooler?, then
-
Jay Leno on his Morgan iii trikes. I really think the Guzzi motor suits this "to a T" . . .
