  1. Unbelievable, unheard of , giant high-pressure weather dome cast its veil of kindness over us. Hawaii-like weather - just extraordinary!
  2. Just home! 1500 mile round trip in a three ton tow rig, ~360 miles of motorcycle riding along the Left Coast of Florida from Cedar Key to the Manatee River. Absolutely fantastic in every way! What an amazing group of riders! I can't say enough good things about these guys and their bikes! This ride (thread) started as baffi e chiavi (Whiskers and Spanners or, more literally "Moustaches and Keys") has morphed titles several times, but no wrenches were deployed (on the main ride day) so I propose: Baffi e Chiecchiaroni (Whiskers and Chatterboxes!)

    More brochures

2001-2002 LeMans brochure in FileShare Thanks, again, to chamberlin obtaining, scanning, and posting these great resources!
  4. Sorry to be out of pocket for a few days, guys. We're in Safety Harbor after trailering 775 miles. stopped in Yankeetown for a coastal exploration (175 miles) - pics later. Looking forward to seeing the gang in the Marina Area in the morning (Sunday) and kick tires for while before sailing over these bridges! what about this amazing clear, cool weather? FANTASTIC!!!
  5. Idle ought to be higher. High idle should be around 1500, while I like my normal idle around 1200 (spec is 1050 +/- 50). We'll keep at it and figure it out - likely more than one thing foiling you!
  6. That's a dead battery. AGM batteries should be 12.84 volts and not drop below around 10 while cranking. Once started, does it show charging voltage? A bad relay connection in the #2 position would defeat the tach and the charging reference. But, I would think other lights would also be out (brake light, headlight, warning "idiot" lights). Consider conditioning your battery with correct charging voltages/amperages and beginning again.
  7. That's what I thought, but doesn't gottagetone still run the top angle drive and the bottom is gone?
  8. The profile bikes are the current stable, I've had several others but like you said the Guzzi is "different". I'm loving the bike, just need to get it back to working so I can enjoy this great weather. I'm grateful for the help, what are the benifits of running 6/8? I'm not married to the 4/6, just trying to bring everything back to factory specs so I can figure out my running issue. Cooler valves, especially the exhaust. I also find idle to be much more stable, particularly in hot weather like were coming into here in the southern US.
  9. Couldn't you just remove the angle drive from the speedo and attach the cable directly?
  10. So, 0.004"/0.006" is mighty tight. There is much happiness to be found at six&eight. If the tach is down, look for other vacancies in the electrical stable: various lights, horn, instrument illumination, "warning" lights? Even new batteries can cast aspersions on our existence . . . With a digital voltmeter check 1)key off; 2) cranking; 3) idle; 4) some rpm, like 2500 or so. (Oh, I can't recall how many times I've read, "Unplug the Power Commander and try again.")
  11. You kept the upper angle drive? With it removed from the speedo, is there room for the cable to attach directly?
  12. As i recall, that is the point at which the ITI/ Gen II V11 cable is vulnerable to break. What kind of cable lube did you use?
  13. Right? And now that you have so many new friends, you'll need a fleet of V11 . . . one of each!
  14. Did a little 70 mile shakedown ride on the Sport today. Felt GREAT! Aired up, fueled up, and ready to go. Finished all the tow vehicle and trailer prep today. Even mounted a proper hood ornament for the trip: Have Coffee, Will Travel!
  15. I love the technology! and hate it . . . love it . . . hate it
  16. Thanks for that, chamberlin. Signal connectivity would be Priority One. I'm still on the fence whether to to simply source a "local" signal, as in Kiwi_Roy's simple reed switch . . .
  17. That's where I would go first. My tach is 300 rpm high, so an indicated 1,000 would be expecting a lot (of voltage, of oil pressure, etc) at 700 rpm. What harm is there to idle at 1200-1250? Better oil pressure, better charging, cleaner running idle . . .
  18. Sheesh - you guys won't let a slacker get away with much . . . HA -so, yeah, I seated the steel rule against the spine frame and dropped a plumb line as fotoguzzi suggested and got the same measurement both sides +/- 1 or 2mm. It was a little fussy holding the rule, the plumb line, and getting the photo so my right side (dark side? ) photos were not so good, but the motor certainly appears centered to the frame. All this time . . .
  19. Oh, ok - looks to be about two inches square? And there is not a "this side up" orientation?
  20. Oh, my! This is only one reason of many that Jaap is The Chief Whip!
  21. Excellent! Thanks for posting this! How about a pic of the cable hooked to the gearbox? I have been assuming it's a 'bent tube' affair similar to the later ITI style cable. How much clearance is there for the throttle rod?
