  1. No, you are reading them correctly. And yes the changes are predominately for idle and taking off. A power range that dyno operators rarely bother charting. I suppose I was focusing on the taking off and you on the idle. Certainly 1500 to 2000 rpm is not cruising rpms, but it is an important power range. And if my theory held true, they should be giving more advance through three thousand RPMs. Here is a dyno graph of stock vs. Ti (it does not prove my point, but is interesting)
  2. No, when going to the Ti Map, the advance stays the same or increases and it reduces nowhere. All of the increased advancing when going to the Ti Map is at lower RPMs. On both maps the advance reduced with RPM at both the lower AND higher throttles at all but the lowest of RPMs. Not that the advance at 1.99% throttle does not effect idle stability, but why would all the other numbers be changed when going to titanium mufflers? Are the fifty percent throttle settings increased primarily to stabilize idle on the ti mufflered bikes? I don't think so. Are you comparing the two maps?
  3. Notice the extra advance at low RPMs. More open mufflers generally lose low end power. I suspect this helps get some of it back.

  5. Both maps are probably full of errors. But the reason for the difference would have more to do with legal emission compliance. The Ti Map probably won't meet emmisions testing and it is designed for use with the titanium mufflers, which are for off road use only, like most aftermarket mufflers, and the Ti Map, Ti Muffler combo probably would not pass emission testing. It would be interesting to compare the maps.
  6. They are two seperate software products. Both use a custom serial cable that connects to the ECU through what I call the OBD connector....It may technically not be OBD... The cable also requires that you connect a pair of alligator clips to the battery. The Tuneboy is the diagnostic software.(currently unavailable as Wayne is busy working on it) When it is ready it will probably give sensor readings, rpm, throttle position, error codes, active injector duration, trim adjustability, and more...or not, as I can only imagine developing this to be an incredible challenge. The TuneEdit is the mapping software. In addition to mapping it shows Throttle Position, RPM and a couple other things. So far I have only adjusted the fuel map and the ignition map...that is more than enough for me to handle at the moment. But I do want to overlay the PCIII map in a more accurate way than just guessing how rich the numbers may interpret to. Other models also have a DataLogger program.   7. Guzzis are for riding AND tinkering! The original problem is that the factory map is not very good and if you modify exhausts, etc., it will be even less good. Sure you install a pair of $800 cans and the bike MAY run OK, or you can throw in a littlle over $300 and get a PCIII or TuneBoy, and make it run much better. Go read the PCIII testimonials on GuzziTech.com TuneEdit and PCIII can both remap the fuel, but TuneEdit does not have all the features of PCIII and PCIII does not have all features of TuneEdit. Which is better is your choice. And there are other choices, like FIM Ultimap, Direct Link, and Cliff's MY15M For me, Tuneboy is the obvious choice, but I don't fault others for choosing different paths....even just riding the things. (but you don't know what you are missing ) Eventually TuneBoy for Guzzi will include diagnostic software to help you keep the bike running properly, so we can "just ride the things" for longtime WARNING! next week I'll try to provide a technical report on the TuneEdit improvements. Wayne sent me the newest software, presumably what Hubert is using. Now mine does not say "Beta" on it anymore
  8. The Hawker and Spark batteries need a higher voltage to get them to 100%, but you should not exceed 15V. My 2Amp automotive charger exceeds 15V, and Battery TendersĀ® allegedly don't put out enough volts to get the battery fully charged. For these reasons, and price, and weight, the Yuasa may be a better choice, however Hawker does have a list of chargers that it recommends. However I am sticking with Hawker because I never had a Yuasa last more than two years. Although others have had them last ten years. The Spark is based on the Hawker Genesis which is less robust than the Hawker Odyssey, so I am hoping my Odyssey will last longer than my Spark did.... NOTE the NTK is the benchmark It is interesting that they all claim something like .1 percent accuracy when none are consistently that accurate...even the Motec does not stay even with the NTK.   11. And here is another option. From NGK, the Powerdex AFX with meter display but no apparent logging. But it looks nice and small. $295 with cables, sensor and bung. http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/products/air-...9000&country=US An aside thought is that most of these units come with cables long enough to wire a car. I don't know if the wires can be cut down, but it might be worth looking into. Although one of the benefits of buying the WBO2 is that you can also use it in your car or truck or whatever. It can also be used in just about any internal combustion engine. You just need a 12Volt source. But I suppose a lawn mower muffler would be too short.

    I doubt it. It was probably intermittantly acting up before, but you may have never noticed... But try spraying the vaseline off with some WD-40.   13. PLX just announced in their newsletter that if you buy an R-500 before January 6th, they will throw in a free G sensor($79retail), so you can log Accellartion G-forces!!! A true road dyno. Only problem is that the R-500 is $579 or $639 with EGT sensor.

  15. When the Rosso first came out, I remember there was a review raving about the clutch, and how while testing at the track they gave it many race launches with no loss of grip or fading. In marketing the clutch, it was pretty clear that it was viewed as superior. I recall even being a little envious...

  18. Amen! Even at the last Guzzi rally I attended, the one accident was by a very experienced rider going 5MPH on a borrowed bike. Sh^t happens, and familiarity with a bike is critical. Well technically there were two accidents...but the second was returning home from the rally....also by an experienced rider, on his own bike, but on an unfamilliar road. No bad injuries except to the bikes... There are probably less than five people who don't ride Guzzis that I'd trust on my bike. Experienced Guzzi riders who I have known for while, might get a lecture on financial responsibility, no clutchless shifts, no glazing the clutch, no wheelies, no peg scrapes, etc. Fret not, BBennett, you did the right thing.

The main case measures 150 x 80 mm with height of 30 mm. 2A1 should be the same dimensions, but I could not verify. Wego II 94L x 43W x 19H PLX 121 x 57 x 25 Zt-2 claims to be smallest in the world, "about the size of a 1" thick business card", but the picture looks like a BIG business card...for scale I think those are RJ-45 sockets, but it still may be the smallest of the above, but I think the WegoII is close in size. And last but not least, the FJO appears to be one of the smaller units, but it is bulkier than the competition because of the quality connectors hanging off the unit.

    It is also possible for the spring contacts to touch each other if they are bent out of shape. This could cause both fillaments to light. But if the bulb is in 180degrees wrong you will get full time high filament.
  23. I missed the details on that one. Apparently the 1MB of the 2A1 provides 32 times more logging time/data than 2A0! So the 2A1 can log about one hour at 10/sec and about 12 minutes at 50/sec.
