  1. It would not be the first regret I had to live with. Considering this means fighting a lot ton of Seattle traffic it's going to be a lot sitting on a freeway. I'm glad I did go to Raber's (vintage British parts place) when I got the Greenie because they also recently closed. Considering Dave won't be at MI I'm still questioning the value of stopping by. It'll be 8 hours of freeway riding (and traffic) or I could go ride somewhere fun. Doing the right thing is never the easy thing ! It never has been .

    Did you reinstall the original bulb in the charge lamp socket ? If not , try this and see what happens .

    My 2003ish V11 has 2 wires from the alt. to reg. One wire from the reg. to the charge lamp. One wire from the reg. to the F3 fuse & to the battery . One wire to the Rr. stop lamp switch . Check the quality of the wiring & connections .

    Do you have a wiring diagram & can you read/understand it well ? Have you inspected the fuse & relay connectors for overheating ? I know I'm reaching on this one , do you own a I/R camera to check for hotspots or bad connections ? There are flowcharts to check the wiring or components before you go trying part$ . BTW , a 25a fuse isn't going to bring the world to an end . This wiring should have been assembled w/ circuit breakers & better relays and relays carrying the loads instead of switches . The bean counters ALWAYS win .

  21. Can you post pics looking straight into the cups ? What condition is the cross ? The darker portion of the break is the first crack and the beginning of the failure .
  22. Docc , if you were able to reach & maintain the torque value I would rule this out .
  23. Docc , scrolling thru this thread : you stated you installed a different pinch bolt due to crossed threads ? The replacement bolt was the same size , thread pitch ? Was the bolt still in place or close by ? Can you post pics of the damamge yoke ? It does NOT look like the u-joint it self failed but the yoke failed . Does the fractured yoke show any rusting or is the break new ?

  25. I would make a receiver a little larger than the o.d. of the metal bushing and push it through . When reinstalling it , use a rubber lube to make it easier . HTH
