  1. Immediately ! With that being said. the dealership could have kept their mouth(s) shut , fixed the bike , had a happy customer and everything is good in Shangri-la . Garages do favors for good customers with expired mileage , dates ,etc. to keep people happy. I have done it out of a sense of responsibility and good customer relations.
  2. Now , did you do the repairs or someone else ?
  3. Have you found one yet ? I think I have one.
  4. Can anyone here with the newer bike(s) verify their forks having R on both forks ?
  5. Time-Sert is the best thread repair brand on the planet. If you are afraid to try it , take it to a good shop or machine shop and get it fixed.
  6. I am going to say your connection at the fuse holder has been the problem all along. The burnt leg of the fuse was an indicator of a poor connection . I wish you had mentioned this , it would have saved a lot of thinking. Did you install a CB into the existing wiring harness ? Is it made like Docc's CB ? Any time you have this burn from a poor connection the wire(s) have the same burn and the connection suffers and the resistance increases (not good) greatly. I can't wrap my head around this bike and factory regulator running this gauge of wire for the charging . If you were aware of electrical systems it would be like hooking up a gen-set to your house with a cheap 2 wire 110v extension cord. Your friend can add resistance if he wants to but you don't need to. Less resistance is what you're after.
  7. I have not seen the newer fork models so I will leave that alone. Mine has the krinkle paint too .
  8. Do both of your forks have R on them ? IT should have C on the l.h. fork and R on the other. My red frame and black frame have a (maybe) 20mm nut on the fork caps. my 2003 has an external fuel pump. DO NOT be too concerned about your bike. The only problem I see is maybe having two R forks on your bike ?
  9. Well , it is an official 2003 and it has an internal fuel pump.
  10. First things first . after a couple of days edit your post that has the VIN in it and erase the VIN for your safety. The forks should have a compression adjust on one and a rebound on the other. IDK if you can install the same forks on these bikes or the internals have been swapped ? My 03ish sport naked (I think) has white face gauges , the forks are different , the clip-ons are above the triple trees , The pork chops may be painted . IDK . I can't tell if your fuel tank has a chin pad or not. The white face gauges are supposed to be earlier than your bike's . My bike VIN is ZGUKRAKR6******** Also , IDK if my triple trees are drilled for bar mounts or not ?
  11. Yeah , you have something extraordinary . google pics from M/G sales brochures for a lot less $$$ . Can you post the last 8 characters of the VIN ? Can you post pics of the top of the forks , pork chops , clip-ons , etc. I assume yours has a black foam insert in front of the fuel cap to prove it is a external fuel pump .
  12. Mmmmm. Yeah but w/heat transfer every amount matters.
  13. What exactly are you trying to find out ? The front end can mean anything past the frame. Steering head , triple trees , forks , wheel , brakes , whatever . I know the forks on some bikes are the black Marzocchi and some use the gold Ohlins.
  14. WHAT caused you to do something as absurd as to create a forum for something as laden w/foibles as this ? I do know w/o this , I would not own my V11s and I certainly not appreciate them or have a relationship w/a task force of other addicts .
  15. I bought mine w/a picture only. I can't remember how I found it . it came out of Fla. Did I want it? Absolutely . I had only seen one in person out at Gerald's shop. Did I think I would like it ? That was irrelevant .
  16. If you have EVER used a thermal imaging camera , you know what heaven is.
  17. Yeah , these bikes are HEAVY compared to other crotch rockets they are compared to and categorized with. 12k RPM , wheelies , stoppies and burnouts are off the list of things to do. A John Deere c/shaft & flywheel is not the hot setup for this bike. The trouble is they are dressed up to look like a crotch rocket, The age of the average rider cannot reproduce the stunts Johnny Knoxville and his bunch do/did in his shows either . Don't even think you can.
  18. The Griso and the V85TT are some righteous bikes. Get your prescription filled ASAP . Disclaimer : this bike is meant to be ridden , worked on in equal amounts. Have you been looking at a particular bike ?
  19. IIRC , Montesa had a motocross bike and for a while they had "blooey pipes" . Think of expansion chambers and cut them in half at the largest diameter. i only saw them once in a DB or MXA magazine . I wonder how they sounded and if they did anything at all ? the equivalent to cutting off your exhaust system (on your car/truck about 24" off the manifold ? It's louder so it's better !
  20. You need a V11 because you don't have one
  21. RR ? Lagrasta , the temp gun was to check for heat buildup due to a poor connection. I have a couple of them and a FLIR camera to see any bad connections. If the connector is the problem , you can use crimp connectors to make a permanent connection and when the time comes you can cut them with side cutters.
  22. Looking at the service manual : you should show 15v @ 1,000rpm . 40v @ 3,000 rpm and 80v @ 6,000 . I would not be stupid enough to tach it up to 6,000 in N so just stick w/the first two test #s. These are just for reference so don't condemn everything if it is w/in 20% of the V output of the test chart.
  23. Also , to go along w/Phil about the metal valve cover gasket , James Mariner told me anytime you use a gasket between the head/valve cover you stop / slow down the heat transfer from the head to the valve cover.
  24. At rest , what does your battery voltage show , engine off ?
