I sent pix of the new bike to The Kid, and he said, unless they come up with an updated LM1 I'm not interested. I get it, I'm an antiquer, too, but I can't see a modern manufacturer even giving it a thought. If they built a modern Falcone, though..

My favorite color combination. At the Oregon nationals, I met a couple from Iowa that had ridden there and camped, two up. Certainly one of Guzzi's best traveling machines. The long travel suspension just eats up highway expansion joints. I was on Darth Quota at the time, riding from SoCal to Oregon with Pete on his Grease O. For that trip, I had the better machine, IMHO.

There *is* a need, however, to keep the automotive type clutch, driveshaft, and rear drive. That will make it recognizably Guzzi.. IMHO.

I would think a good TIG guy could fix it. V it out with a die grinder, pre heat, clamp it flat and weld.

Ron.. I must have had that preselector apart and back together 100 times when I was developing the unbreakable pawl spring. (I see Phil just posted) *I don't remember* but if you run it through it's travel up and down shifting, it should be obvious I would think.

It seems like (from my foggy memory) I fixed a friends Greenie with those symptoms. It was a broken wire in the ignition switch, I think.

Hmmmm, maybe that is a clue on your oil pressure problems? Back in the day, a kid that worked for me told me his grandfather said to "always pre fill the oil filter." I asked him about the filters that couldn't be pre filled, such as are on many airplane engines, cartridge filters, etc. So, we did a test. Pre filled against empty on the Centauro. It made very little difference except the empty one seemed to turn the light off about a half second sooner. The point being (from memory) it was about 5 seconds..

There is probably no reason to replace that switch, and end up with 2 keys. They are easy enough to take apart, clean the old hardened grease off that is holding the contacts apart, Scotch brite the brass pieces, apply fresh Vaseline, and reassemble. It is also FREE. (Guzzi content)

Ok, I'll chime in. While I *love* airplane noise, especially a "gaggle" of these boogers roaring around.. Mother Earth is saying we really need to quit burning fossil fuels. Yesterday. The energy companies knew in the 70s that continued use of fossil fuels would upset the earth's natural carbon balance and decided to hire scientists to muddy the "climate change" waters. (Yes, there is proof of that.) It is the same scenario as when GM and the Ethyl corporation hired scientists to say the lead in the air that was causing birth defects, etc. were "normal" and "always" had been there. Finally, climate scientists did bore samples and determined that no, that wasn't true at all. We've cleaned that up. Remember the "ozone holes?" Fixed that. We have the capability to use renewable energy.. it will take a concerted effort, but we need to do it. Off the soap box.

to the OP.. if you have never ridden an E bike, don't be so sure you wouldn't like it. I'm as much of a gear head as anyone.. but as Bill says, comma but. There was a sporty Zero at the Ohio rally about 3 years ago available for test rides. I thought, "probably ho hum, but I'll give it a try." It was set on eco, so as soon as I left the campground, I (of course) set it on sport and nailed the throttle. Horry Carp! over 100 ft. lbs of torque instantly available in a Lario sized bike is really addictive. I'd have bought it on the spot if I could have ridden it home. Nope, too far. Battery tech is improving by leaps and bounds, though. I'll bet it won't be too long when that 300 or so mile trip would be doable.

I would have had that pan off yesterday.. good luck! Hopefully it's just the oil pressure sensor.

As far forward as you can get. Grasp the tank with your knees. No weight on the bars, elbows bent. Late turn in, flick into the corner and add power all the way through the corner. The machine wants to be stable. The less you mess with it other than adding power through the corner, the better it likes it. It is a very good handling motorcycle.. Edit: Oh, forgot. 5000 to 6000 rpm is the sweet spot..

I was at a gun show, and someone was selling "genuine copper commemorative coins" for something or other for like a dollar. I thought, "Hmmmm, those look just like some 90 degree battery connections for the Mighty Scura." Some sawing and bending required. -
Back in the day I bought a new Centauro. Like most at that time, it barely ran except at WFO. I made it my life's work to sort it, and it took 2 years of trying everything on the COG at the time. I got it running beautifully.. all the little glitches they came with *except* the very occasional miss around 3400 or so. The final solution for that was the brass temp sensor holder to replace the plastic piece.
