  1. In my experience, MI and Ida Mae are generally the least expensive sources, but MIs website sux and Ida Mae's is non existent.
  2. Sure sounds like a valve train noise from a few miles north of you. I'm going to throw a dart and say wiped cam lobe.. but the next throw might land in a different place. At any rate, as luhbo says.. You didn't put hydraulic lifters in it did you? Sounds like one hasn't pumped up..
  3. All I can say is it doesn't go down that fast, but don't try to hold it. Put it right on TDC.. I've done it *many* times.
  4. True..but all that happens isthe piston goes down. Crank it around to TDC ready to fire and try again. Leak down tests are done at 80 psi. A good used cylinder will be about 5 % leakage. Over 10 % is suspect.
  5. If the piston is exactly at TDC it wont move. Hissing at throttle body, intake valve.exhaust valve will hiss at the muffler. Rings at crankcase breather. Sorry for the cryptic posts, I'm pecking on a tablet.
  6. As I mentioned a while back, it's time for a leak down test. .
  7. Oh, I imagine it's over spray from DeOxit when I put the new Omrons in.
  8. There might be a reason that they deleted that light on later models.

    Ram Mount.

Just think of all that money Guzzi could have saved if it isn't necessary.
  10. I thought you last said 157mv?
  11. You mean your's actually works? I think mine is activated by phases of the moon.

    Rear Axle

    1) Agreed, but since the wheels are different widths, it's worth being aware before having something machined. SP can pull his and inspect/compare if he ends up with a later axle. 2) Yeah, I think the nuts are the same, but I think the RH sides in 2000 vs 2002 take a different size hex wrench - and I think the 2002 takes a larger wrench. Ah, gotcha. Wow, my (2000) right side hex drive is 10mm. Bigger than that? Lots. Don't make me walk down to the shop and get my calipers..
  13. Welcome, Vents.. I predict an affair with the V11S, too.
  14. Like Docc said, as long as it was just that breather hose (very common) all that will clear up with a new one. Probably no damage to the clutch plates. Even a rear main seal leak doesn't normally affect them.
  15. This is getting old.. I'm beginning to see what Dorcia's dad was talking about.." all my friends are gone." Blue skies and tailwinds, Tom.
  16. Lots. When I came in to the Wisconsin rally, I saw my friend Twowings from Oklahoma with the tank off his Norge. Grabbed a free beer (after all, it's the Wisconsin rally) and went over to investigate. He'd lost 2 quarts in his 700 mile trip. (!) Found the breather hose loose at the air box.
  17. If you get the hiccup at low rpm/barely on throttle, check for a vacuum leak.
  18. IIRC, Pete said you could go ahead and put in the full 4 quarts after plate installation. 3 1/2 has been working for me since the 90s, don't see any reason to change..besides, you get a free quart every other change.
  19. Oh, yes they can. I used the correct coils. The first one was an oem coil. The next two were from MGcycle.
  20. Here's mine..hanging out with her big sisters. Not nice silvery blue, though. I've never seen one of those.. 2016-08-18_02-45-05 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr
  21. Sure, the pressure lines to the heads will leak a lot of oil if either they or the fitting fails. That's fairly common. The phase sensor and oil pressure sender can leak, but not normally a lot.. The breather line is a good bet.. it will make a mess.
  22. Ahh, maybe that was what was going on with my old SP. Less the ECU of course..
  23. Sounds like sticking steering damper/steering head bearings. I *assume* you know how to check the steering head bearings? You can take the damper off, of course, to see if that is causing it. The thing is..strange handling is *not* what a V11S is about, so something is causing it.
  24. I'd at least look at a new Thruxton. Fortunately, I don't have to. That said, I could live with the AeroLario. When push comes to shove, it generally gets the nod for everyday riding. When I get old.. the Monza is waiting. Light, agile.
  25. Uhh, yeah. that's strange looking to me.
