First time service on 43 mm Marzocchi forks
LowRyter replied to nobleswood's topic in Technical Topics
If I was going the trouble to take them apart, I'd replace both the bushings and seals. The deformed bushings will wear out the seals. It's important to change both bushings in each fork. Otherwise you'll have to take it apart again when the seals leak. If you don't like the ride, yes, change out the springs and valves. Go with the Guzzi Tech. Todd's done tons of development. Of course, if it's not leaking and you like the ride, don't fix it if it ain't broke. (You can change the oil without taking the forks apart?) I have 30k on my Greenie and unless the previous owner worked on it, the fork has never been touched. I think the bike handles like it's on rails compared to my Bandit (with full Race Tech Gold Valves & Springs) and my EV(which as been serviced with new bushings and seals). -
How many states are these guys wanted in? Lucky they didn't get caught since their lawyer was laid up (locked up?).

maybe next year Docc. I rode the Greenie to Springfield for the Mile but came up blanks with trailering the beast to Telico Planes. Man, retired life is just too busy to get everything done. This weekend I have a tickets to see the Sooners play some orange team from the east. So poor those folks in Appalachia that they can't even send their pep band over here. Anyway. here's some photos from Springfield I took: who would win? the King of Cool.

What, up against TT2 and F1 Ducatis? dream on my friend. Ciao yeah... no chance

Rich, I am sure the larger community at Wild Guzzi would love to keep up with this project. We have vintage Bonneville, flat track and road racers that have run or are still running vintage Guzzis on the board. http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php That's where the big Guzzi community hangs out and knows the ins and outs on the classic and new bikes bikes. The other cites I listed are great for racing parts, services and technical knowledge.

Please take some photos. I'll try it next year.

Let's get this in perspective. The OP is looking at running the Manx GP- not the TT. He's not looking for a spine frame, 4 valver or MGS-01. This is the vintage racing for bikes manufactured prior to 1987. Certainly a 1000 LeMans would be a formidable ride and should be competitive with any Euro or Japanese bike from the era.

I'd contact these guys. http://www.guzzitech.com/ http://www.guzzipower.com/ http://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=18 http://teamguzzinerd.blogspot.com/ http://www.mikerichmotorsports.com/index.html good luck.

they'll probably turn color naturally on the exhaust tip. -
Need help - bike leaking oil, loosing power, sluggish acceleration
LowRyter replied to FalcoLion's topic in Technical Topics
it's pretty easy to tell which ain't firing by putting your hand on the head. The cold one is the dead one. I had a problem with the EV. The left cyl would quit intermittently. It took nearly a year to get it figured out. One of the ignitor module connections just wasn't quite connecting. After lots of trial and error I reversed the two connections and dressed them with dielectric grease and the problem went away. knock wood -

ooooh geeess, I am glad it wasn't "ass". good luck on the screws. my real point was to take the screws to a hardware store and get a match. Hope it all works out. The wife and I are planning our first visit there next summer. -

really? "Ace" is the same word in French as in English, I don't see the problem. -
thanks for sharing. I own a Greenie and it's pretty hard to get a photo capturing the right color. I've toyed with exposure and white balance, flash and no flash. Very rare when it doesn't come out yellow or drab green. I see that MG had the same problem printing brochures. All of the photos are "yellowed out" despite being done professionally.

take one to match it and go to Ace Hardware. Perhaps use a little Locktite to keep them from shaking out when you screw in the replacement. Change them all out to get uniform fastener type and finish. . -
just a tug and click of your allen wrench should do the trick.

the Sport is a real knock out.

It says, "can't be used to clean chain lube, that's why you bought a Guzz!i"

I don't think any of the factory bikini fairings are frame mounts. They all hook on the headlight. I only know of two made specifically for the V11: Guzzi & Stucchi. They are different with different windshields, I know because my windscreen got broken (I don't know how but I think it got smacked in the parking lot at work) and I almost ordered ordered the wrong after market style windshield from MG but instead I got the factory windshield from MPH. My bike has the carbon fiber factory bikini fairing. Stuchhi had a color match. I've not seen them on the MG website so I wonder if they are no longer available?

similar thing happened to me on a hot day (low 90s) of in-town riding. I decided to fill it with gas and big "SUCK" when I open the filler cap. Filled it with gas, has not happened since (cross fingers).

my touring bike is an EV (this photo posted by Ed Milich in "Motorcyclist" Magazine) my Bandit has 79k miles my greenie

Docc, "very likely?" "realistically?" or "for sure." (?) If "for sure", I need to discuss some towing & parking logistics help with someome.

I have PR3 on my Bandit and had them on my V11 Sport. The rear wore out on my Sport sooner that I would've guessed. I replaced it with a Angel GT. I have been running PR1-2-3 on my Bandit. Haven't run enough miles on my Bandit to know if PR3 was an isolated problem vs PR3 on the Sport. Funny. the PR4 have come out so soon after PR3.
