  2. My speedo jumps all be the place, especially above 70 mph. It was sold to me like that with 14k miles on it. I've owned it less than two years and have 28k miles on it now and the speedo (or cable or whatever) still hasn't totally stopped working and dances a little less than it used to. The trip odo has erased the "1" & "2" numbers on the second digit. I normally cruise by the tach speed anyway.
  3. didn't I read here the Sach's unit was rebuild-able with Ohlins components? Even so, your bike is out of commission while you're waiting.
  4. Be carefull! Zerks are brittle. They snap really easy! Hubert there's that and my Greenie that Chuck mentioned. Anyway, it's greased now.
  5. tonight bringing out 10 year Glenmorangie
  6. I just wouldn't want to take it apart twice for a $6 part....
  7. why wouldn't you just throw the old one away and spend another $6 for a spare? The big deal is the labor- not the part. Why would you reinstall a part that you went to the trouble to remove in the first place?
  8. I'm not sure of the performance differences. You MIGHT assume that a single exhaust would increase low and mid range at the expense of top end power. But you know what that say about ASS-uming. One thing is that a single muffler weighs less than two. I would guess that on the street that either could be make to work with little difference in performance. I do remember the Honda RC51 Superbike Twin Cyl 1000 of the early 2000s. Nicky won the AMA Superbike with one pipe and Colin won the world title with two. So it appears both can be made to work.
  9. The Chance is a hoot and holler I've met at least once before at the Arkansas Rally.
  10. think your bud, "the Chancellor of BMW" will make it again? he's a real hoot.
  11. I've gone there in Mid April. The temps were fine but did catch rain a couple of times and a forest fire once. Those dang turkeys walk all over the road too. Remember to warm up your tires on the Dragon early in the morning there is lots of shade on it and the pavement stays cool.
  12. great riding country. I've traveled there 4 times. Some great rides are the Tail of the Dragon (129 from Tenn to Deals Gap NC), Hwy 28 from Deals Gap to Highland NC, Cherocola Parkway. You might consider staying in Telico Plains TN or Robbinsville NC. Take a ride to Maggie Valley to see Wheels Through Time museum. I don't have any experience in N Ga but the rides around Suches are documented.
  13. I'm on the road now. Actually entered the Greenie into the local bike show. I put the HB bags on it, the MG tank Bag and the fiber fly screen. Also has a new Angel on the back. Cleaned off the grease. Bike ran good. I've taken a 3rd place trophy with the EV (which was also pictured in "Motorcyclist" magazine). We'll see how the Sport works out.
  14. no wait. The tire that came on the bike was toast and I got rid of it after a month. Then I purchased a Dunlop Qualifier full Sport tire and replaced that one with a Michelin PR3 (which I rode to North Carolina and back). I noticed the PR3 was center channeled and getting down to the wear bars (and much more worn that the PR3 on my Bandit), so I decided to replace it now with Pirelli Angel GT. I still have aPR3 on the front. Of course, I still haven't even ridden it with Angel. I've learned the hard way, not to go off on a trip when the wear bars are even starting to show. I've gotten home from a couple of trips with lots of steel belt showing from the center pretty scary -which I think was why I got rid of the Qualifier. So I am prepping for the Daytona trip and getting everything prepped (even though I taking the 5th wheel). I am not certain when I installed the PR3 but my inclination is that I didn't get the mileage I expected. Docc will tell you I ride like a little old lady. In fact, I am retired, a senior citizen.
  15. actually I checked the website and the Ago is 400 euros vs $700. quite a markdown. Plus shipping and waiting. I am just going for the $70 U Joint.
  16. that is confusing Leon. I don't get the point.
  17. Hard to say if it's worn out or boogered out. Such the travails of preventive maintenance. Mechanic said it didn't feel smooth and needed to be replaced. So, I can get the UJoint for $70.
  18. Hopefully, that's what I need. I'll get it overnighted and hopefully will be riding soon- now that the weather is headed to 70 and the snow is disappearing. Certainly better than being in Daytona and have it lock up on me there,
  19. 24-25k miles. I bought it with 14k, Aug 2012. 4th back tire going on since I bought it.
  20. or this........ http://www.mgcycle.com/product_info.php?products_id=2260 ?
  21. looks like it's a total cluster now. ..U joint is worn out... apparently needs a new shaft u-joint assembly... u joint not separate? No parts at Harpers. ugly
  22. we'll see if this works out.
  23. I am getting my green 01 Sport serviced for a new rear tire. I asked the mechanic to enlarge the porthole to service the front U Joint. When examining it, the zerk is pointed to the rear of the bike rather than pointed to the front. So regardless of cutting a new porthole, there is no way to access the zerk without disassembling the swing arm. He recommends that he disassemble it and the reinstall by reversing the U Joint so the zerk points to the front. Any suggestions or warnings greatly appreciated.
