Yeah, I don't think there are any reverse threaded mandrels. I apologize for making a useless thread.
-
I'm not having an easy time finding one. If memory serves it's a reverse thread and very small (?) metric.
-
There are so many threads on the subject, I didn't know where to start. So, I'm making it worse by starting another. The Moderator is more than welcome to combine this to its proper place. Anyway, I've lost a couple of those stems and they cost $30+. I won't purchase another one but it's inconvenient when you're trying to keep track of the gas fill up. I was on a Ducati forum whining about it and got this advice: I also lost the reset knob on the Veglia speedo on my Bevel Duc and as you say they are stupid ($64!!) expensive. I discovered that the male thread on the Veglia reset shaft in the speedo was the same as the female thread on a Demel tool mandrel and the mandrels aren't expensive. I fabricated a metal eyelet and epoxied on the end of the mandrel shaft, removed the retaining screw and I keep the mandrel on my keyring. When I stop for gas I thread it onto the reset shaft, reset the trip meter and then remove it and no more lost stupid expensive knobs.

Thanks Phil. Common sense advice that I am deficient.

.....at less than $2 for the (Volvo-)Guzzi spark plugs, it's pretty easy to change just them out with the valve adjustment.
-
Tinus, Did you pull the little Guzzi emblem off the old one or pay small fortune for another? Phil, I'll look for some metal sleeves to reinforce the mounting tabs. You recommend aluminum? Just drill the CF and insert the sleeves? Glue them in or not?

I got the "last one" for $78. Should look great since the Greenie has the factory CF bikini fairing. BTW- does it replace the factory cover or attach over it?

Leon. The Master of Space and Time. Saw him last for his 70th Bday in Tulsa. Still love his music and have his hits on my playlist. Jumpin Jack Flash/Youngblood. Stranger in Strange Land. Song for You. Hummingbird. And then his country side, Hank Wilson, Rolling in my Sweet Baby's Arms. They're restoring the Church Studio in Tulsa now. It should be open to the public this summer. https://thechurchstudio.com/ Leon and Tulsa were the center of the universe for 15 minutes or so in the 1970s. In fact, it's still there in one small spot. https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/the-center-of-the-universe-tulsa-oklahoma

Where'd you get the alt cover?

We took off to Vegas a few days ago and saw Van Morrison last night. I am too tired to post any photos. Great show, 9 piece band. I've listened to Van for 50 years and despite hearing sax on all his records, I didnt know he played the sax. Great music. Some of the good ones, "Baby, Please Don't Go/Roll with the Punches", "Wild Night", "Three Chords and the Truth", "Cleaning Windows", ""Broken Record", Brown Eyed Girl", and jam version of "Gloria" with Van leaving and everyone doing a solo. No encore. Played perhaps a couple dozen songs over an hour and half. Caesars' Palace, great acoustics, little leg room.

That dang #5 relay. Why can't we have decent plugs and connectors?
-
Doesn't this model have flyscreen?
-
Made my day today. Hadn't ridden the Greenie in a few weeks. Started like a top, ran a minute and done. No fuel pump. Played around with fuses, then found this to pinpoint #5 relay. Contact cleaner and the old in and out, relay musical chairs and then it ran. Ran it 75 miles or so.

My brother is a huge fan. He loaned me the "Ghost Rider book which is really good IMO. He and I went to see them in concert. I had a hard time figuring out the "amps" that Geddy was playing. It was big bank of glassed boxes with something spinning in them(?). And I finally got it, they were huge chicken rotisseries, probably cooking a hundred chickens during the show. After the show, we sprung for some Macallan since that was Neil's drink.

Does Caterpillar make metric fasteners? I think the simple thing is to look for the 12.9 standard marked on the fasteners. You can get them at Lowes and probably Ace. That's where I get all of my nuts and bolts. I've tried Fastenal and they seldom have what I need there, so I never go back. You can also go to a specialist store for industrial-supplied fasteners, usually you have a minimum like $20 for a purchase. For sure you can get 12.9 quality at Lowes but they may go for more than a buck a pair for just some 20mm M8 like I had to get got my Duc luggage rack mounts. Rather than make a guess about quality, just look for the marked standards before you purchase.

Guzzi Trannies have a crunchy shift from 2nd to 3rd. Being deliberate helps but not always.

I've had so many leaks now that I just carry an extra set of gaskets with me when I travel. I've had the silicone ones have their ears eaten off too.

GM, I had the opportunity to drive a Chevy Bolt. I was impressed. Neat car. The formica stuff on the dash was a little strange but I was impressed with the driving experience. How far do you get on a charge? How long does it take charge?

The kid's ST is a good goer, agile and small, with forgiving FWD (gets no boost in 1st gear). In town, I think it can shoot through traffic as good as my Corvette. The narrow Recaros and some of the glitz inside isn't quite in my generation.

My youngest son has an Escort ST. It's a pretty good goer.

What flows best?: stock intake air box or two small aftermarket filters?

Search here and you'll find a thread talking about punching there teardrop hole into the top of the airbox. The PO did that to my bike. The bike seems to run pretty good for a Guzzi.
