  1. The forward balance pipe may well add gains somewhere... but does nowt fer the looks! Ha!
  2. Nice! I love the V11 LM fairing- all avionic n ting. Yes you can get it running just sweet as a nut. And this is the place to do so. x
  3. Are we talking unexpected braking here? Like 'arse- this corner is kinda tight' braking? I'm not sure why anyone would trail-brake in normal conditions. Doesn't everyone just brake, turn and accelerate? I went out today especially to mither the brakes in corners: I found the front is fine for slowing when canted over unless you grab it and fixate on the edge of the road- which one might do if taken unawares. The rear seemed kinda unnecessarily fussy, and occupied valuable brain, unless I expected to be going too fast. In which case i thought "i am going faster than i can anticipate.” So why do that?
  4. Here's the unused, second-hand shaft: On the original shaft, the splined portion protruded beyond the end of the tube, whereas on this shaft the splines are 'recessed' slightly into the tube.
  5. Something that's been on my mind for a while, and maybe i'm imagining it??: I've been wondering if the suspension alters slightly from quite hard when cold to when a few miles have gone by- seems to loosen up, poss due to warming up?? Anyone else notice this and do people take this into account when setting sag and compression etc?
  6. I've found they are susceptible to bad routing- have you tried adjusting it?
  7. It's quite an eye-opener following someone who's good thru the bends. I did a short one-on-one course last year where the battery died in the intercom and I followed the instructor back to base to swap it- he was hustling a big bmw at speed thru many roundabouts to make up time. Wow. So quick, so smooth, so seemingly effortless. The v11 is a pretty heavy lump- i bet the best thing for good results would be to get the suspension set right? I'd love to have a bash on an ohlins v11 to compare to mine...
  8. Ok, in the morning...
  9. Hmmm, dammit i should've taken a side-by-side pic shouldn't I? Too much of a hurry to get it re-assembled... They were definitely different lengths, by about a quarter inch I'd say.
  10. Hi up folks, I got the second-hand shaft thru and she's all buttoned up and rides fine (yay). However, the replacement was not identical to the original. (I ended up using the original 'male' part with the new 'female' part). It seemed shorter- would this be from the earlier, short wheelbase model perchance?
  11. Damn our bikes look good!
  12. Wups, sorry buddy, it mounts to the footrest hangers. Iirc there's a 5 kilo limit stickum on it... but as i am a cheeky egg, i must've put about 6-7 in it with no adverse effects.
  13. I bought steve s's old one- true, they aren't nearly as pretty as the lovely stucci ones but are perfectly functional. New price seems steep though...
  14. Well I now have some replacements. Mcgill motorsports sell 'ultra high mega superb performance' rod ends, so i got some and they look great- fat, thick, quality metal b*stards you could concuss a honey badger with. Service was top notch too- order processed and sent out the same day, received the following morning! http://www.mcgillmotorsport.com/male-rod-ends-metric-xm-racing-series-chromoly-kevlar-ultra-high-performance/
  15. I accidentally bought a bmw the other week so I am now the proud(ish) owner of a 90's 735i. mmmmm.... v8.... like the guzz she is portly but quick when you poke her just right! Plus, I must now be a social menace as I'm White Van Man and also a bmw driver! Ha!
  16. Yeah isn't it? I'd say i've had the rossopuro on for around four thousand miles, and these were the second set of joints i fitted. I don't even have an adaptor to fit these nips so kinda redundant i suppose. I'm not wise in the way of these things but thought, due to the poss severity, it best to 'create awareness' as they say. When i looked at the amount of metal either side of the lube point i did think it seemed kinda paltry for this particular usage.... but like i say, my knowledge of metal strengths/fatigues is (was?) zero.
  17. Here's a couple of pics of the (rearward) rod end that went as i was pulling away the other day. It was on the rossopuro torque arm i have fitted. Admittedly I've put many miles on the bike with this set-up, only changing the joints when the play became noticeable. I'm assuming it went due to a shock from a pot-hole impact or something. As it is it's only cost me a propshaft (twisted) and replacement joints i'm fairly sanguine- a fail at speed may have been a Bad Day. I'm also assuming that the lube nip, as a weak point, is dangerously unnecessary?
  18. Found a spare from reboot guzzi.
  19. Oh well, up and downs: looks like the female part of the shaft is twisted. Bugger. In other news, the o-ring looks to be 1.8mm thick, the groove comes in at 26.9mm or thereabouts so 27mm id for the ring? How much would you like for your spare shaft scud?
  20. Sorted! All it took was two tonnes of peugeot. Everything seems fine, amazingly, all parts moving/rotating smoothly. I removed the shaft nipple to have a peek and now i understand... The o-ring doesn't look too bad so i'll re-use it and check on it a ways on. (Will measure it up for you scud). New swinging arm bearings and it's re-build time! I'm somewhat relieved as a new shaft is 450 quid.
  21. Oh hang on, does the forward nipple fill the shaft?
  22. Well the uj's are wider than the swingarm hole which is why they are married until i can separate the shaft. I'm plann9ng to give the ratchet strap another go today (tried once but no joy). Marty- i don't think there is a spline lube point? There's one on each uj but are you sure there's one on the shaft? I can't remember.
  23. Hey up Guzzisti, I've a problem I need help with (and poss a cautionary tale): I had the rear rod end fail on the torque arm, it split across the weak point thru the lube nipple and opened up like a finger. I'll post a pic at some point. Thankfully it was just as i was pulling away, and not doing 60mph, or I could've been in serious trouble... So now to the problem: the shaft must've jacked about as it is now jammed at the sliding splines. I'm guessing that the rubber seal has dislodged from it's groove (man) and maybe jammed up into the splines?? Whatever's happened I cannot separate the shaft at the sliding joint. Swingarm's off so now I have a swingarm with a shaft stuck thru it. Hashtag sadface. Would love any suggestions! And I will never again use those rose joints with lube points- just the full metal versions. I can only recommend others do the same....
  24. Heh! Gut, gut... but i was hoping more for something like: Freundschaftsbezeigungen... or how about a: Massenkommunikationsdienstleistungsunternehmen... ?
  25. Did you replace the ht caps? Have you tried re-fitting the old ht leads?
