  1. Mmmmmmm, black powertrain, red bodywork, shiney zorsts, that's a fine looker! I also am in a Good Mood: Replacement of the breather hose has sorted my leaky oil munchkin out! H'rayy! Or... it's dry....
  2. Still sounds like tps and/or inlet rubbers... plus have you cleaned out the butterflies? They do get crudded up some- must affect the initial opening??
  3. Get the brown ones blasted?
  4. I figure it's less weight
  5. I removed mine completely! (The idle, not the clutch)
  6. They don't technically have to. Sure, i just meant these look like they do..
  7. I'd have thought they must connect.
  8. That's cool daddio
  9. That early 'paint' on the engine ... ew. What were they thinking... sorry, off topic..
  10. Replaced the breather hose. Possibly unnecessary as the old one looked ok... That oils comin from somewhere though... While i was incrementally disassembling stuff to gain access/cut down on cursing, i backed the preload right off as i'm right fed up of smashing over bumps, cleaned sone nasssty gunk outa the airbox, cleaned the gunk outa the butterflies... errr wot else... oh and fecked about with the rear brake- bled it a bit (i'll bet much fine gold on there still being air in it), and the b*stard's still rubbing on the disc anyway. Maybe the seals are bollixed. My car's broke too. And we got burgled yesterday. My cat's nice though!
  11. What's the resting voltage on the battery? (I doesn't seem to take much of a drop to cause grief)
  12. Plugs and battery terminals good + tight?
  13. Holy crap! Sorry to see this buddy- hope you've not banged yourself up.
  14. Yeah that pin does get awful don't it? Good advice on givin it a good fettle.
  15. Right o, i'll re-fit and see how i go i suppose. The pistons wouldn't retract independently when it was looked at, so poss just a bit of crud in the system.
  16. New disc already on old bean! Seriously, the old one was distorted quite alarmingly- i'd say about 3-4mm out of flat. Which lead me to the notion of shimming the caliper.
  17. Master Cylinder corrodes so piston doesn't fully return blocking hole to reservoir , owner adjusts clearance on pedal because it now appears to have loads of travel, goes for a ride and when the brake warms up the fluid expands but can't get to the reservoir so applies brake instead creating more heat and more pressure and so on....Don't ask how I know this Well I stripped&cleaned it and it looked very good inside, thankfully. Couple of teeny nicks on the sleeve... but took them back with a bit of wet+dry. Chuck- I found a old post mentioning cone-shaped, warped discs (mine also is very badly coned) and poss shimming the caliper across to counter this somehow? I'd have though the caliper would be 'self-adjusting' for lateral grippage? However, I'm on the verge of fitting a couple of washers between the hanger and caliper... Do we have any thoughts about this here and now in the really real times?
  18. Heh! Sometimes i forget that i'm a plasterer and not a mechanic! Of course it's my error, just cos i thought i'd bled it well, doesn't mean i did so. (Sorry Brembo!) This time I'll take all the good advice here and try to do the job reet. Hashtag Contrition, hashtag Justcosyouownaguzzidoesntmakeyouwellversedinmechanicals.
  19. I have just toasted the snit out of my rear disc, which melted the lovely gold anodising and left it crisp-shaped. Hashtag sadface. The cylinder looked clean enough on disassembly.... got a replacement disc coming tomo but concerned it'll happen again... Why are these rear brakes so crap? Always thought brembo were highly thought of...
  20. Without a doubt. Assuming he can still support the guzz.
  21. I like the o-ring idea. I usually slather the outside face of the area with heavy grease before assembly. Incidentally, my rear wheel has been off and on a few times these past months. Despite periodically rotating the inner race of the bearing and packing more grease into the needles, there are still signs of wear.

    NZ video

There's one in Newcastle for sale!! Alas and Alack, for tis priced at a decidedly salty £9,995... How much are kidneys worth? (My wife has 2) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2004-Moto-guzzi-V11-0cc-Sport-Tourer-BLACK-/122239012406?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368
  23. Wasn't there talk (from the 'tricians amongst us) that a low idle would adversely affect the charging system?
  24. I agree- and i've noticed quite some difference depending on the tyres fitted too. I'm liking the Pirelli gt's currently on, they feel very neutral. The st's were definitely better thru the front but wore so quickly... The engine braking on the v11 is fierce! I tend to use it to 'set the speed' for cornering when riding quickly thru the bends- if i'm using the brakes to adjust my speed it's usually due to mis-reading the corner. I find there is just too much weight in the bike to take any chances. My old honda rs250a on the other hand...!
  25. Mine required new inlet rubbers and a tps reset to cure the 3k stutter.
