  1. I accidentally bought a bmw the other week so I am now the proud(ish) owner of a 90's 735i. mmmmm.... v8.... like the guzz she is portly but quick when you poke her just right! Plus, I must now be a social menace as I'm White Van Man and also a bmw driver! Ha!
  2. Yeah isn't it? I'd say i've had the rossopuro on for around four thousand miles, and these were the second set of joints i fitted. I don't even have an adaptor to fit these nips so kinda redundant i suppose. I'm not wise in the way of these things but thought, due to the poss severity, it best to 'create awareness' as they say. When i looked at the amount of metal either side of the lube point i did think it seemed kinda paltry for this particular usage.... but like i say, my knowledge of metal strengths/fatigues is (was?) zero.
  3. Here's a couple of pics of the (rearward) rod end that went as i was pulling away the other day. It was on the rossopuro torque arm i have fitted. Admittedly I've put many miles on the bike with this set-up, only changing the joints when the play became noticeable. I'm assuming it went due to a shock from a pot-hole impact or something. As it is it's only cost me a propshaft (twisted) and replacement joints i'm fairly sanguine- a fail at speed may have been a Bad Day. I'm also assuming that the lube nip, as a weak point, is dangerously unnecessary?
  4. Found a spare from reboot guzzi.
  5. Oh well, up and downs: looks like the female part of the shaft is twisted. Bugger. In other news, the o-ring looks to be 1.8mm thick, the groove comes in at 26.9mm or thereabouts so 27mm id for the ring? How much would you like for your spare shaft scud?
  6. Sorted! All it took was two tonnes of peugeot. Everything seems fine, amazingly, all parts moving/rotating smoothly. I removed the shaft nipple to have a peek and now i understand... The o-ring doesn't look too bad so i'll re-use it and check on it a ways on. (Will measure it up for you scud). New swinging arm bearings and it's re-build time! I'm somewhat relieved as a new shaft is 450 quid.
  7. Oh hang on, does the forward nipple fill the shaft?
  8. Well the uj's are wider than the swingarm hole which is why they are married until i can separate the shaft. I'm plann9ng to give the ratchet strap another go today (tried once but no joy). Marty- i don't think there is a spline lube point? There's one on each uj but are you sure there's one on the shaft? I can't remember.
  9. Hey up Guzzisti, I've a problem I need help with (and poss a cautionary tale): I had the rear rod end fail on the torque arm, it split across the weak point thru the lube nipple and opened up like a finger. I'll post a pic at some point. Thankfully it was just as i was pulling away, and not doing 60mph, or I could've been in serious trouble... So now to the problem: the shaft must've jacked about as it is now jammed at the sliding splines. I'm guessing that the rubber seal has dislodged from it's groove (man) and maybe jammed up into the splines?? Whatever's happened I cannot separate the shaft at the sliding joint. Swingarm's off so now I have a swingarm with a shaft stuck thru it. Hashtag sadface. Would love any suggestions! And I will never again use those rose joints with lube points- just the full metal versions. I can only recommend others do the same....
  10. Heh! Gut, gut... but i was hoping more for something like: Freundschaftsbezeigungen... or how about a: Massenkommunikationsdienstleistungsunternehmen... ?
  11. Did you replace the ht caps? Have you tried re-fitting the old ht leads?
  12. Avon 3d-xm's lasted a fair do and were great except for when god sent a flood. Don't know if you can get them inthe US? The 180 was too wide, it rode well enough but was a pain to get on/off. I've just put angel gt's on (170), my first set of these, feel supoib so far.
  13. New tyres, new brake pads, all lines bled and calipers cleaned, bodywork waxed. Ahh. Do the Germans have a massive word that represents "That lovely feeling when many small fettlings combine to result in hightened satisfaction"?
  14. Hi Owen, you should be able to get it sorted- I've biked my v11 all over England and Scotchland in some horrendous, miserable downpours and she never missed a beat so it is possible!
  15. Haa! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yao_T2adl14
  16. Looks neat. You'll get some nicely graded gravel to shake out every few hunnerd miles?
  17. Are we really saying that with all the exacting stuff people can make, 'they' cannot manufacture a perfectly aligned prop shaft? I notice in the video a few posts back, that the rearward props offset was aligned off 'to follow' rather than be pushed- is that important?
  18. Well my avon xm's are good enough- bit cheeky in the very wet though.. and the 180 width is tooo wide. INTERMISSION: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4Ay9eZNRVHI
  19. Nice, and autofab have a snazzy slip of a tail on this one: http://www.autofabrica.com/#/type-9/
  20. Are you saying it will ride, albeit not perfectly? Or that no sane human could tame it?
  21. To be fair, if you'd love a tenni, i highly doubt you would regret getting one!
  22. You can fit proper handlebars and adjustable pegs are available too. I shouldn't think of it as an uncomfortable bike but the peg/seat distance is poss on the short side? Whilst conversely it is a stretch to the (clipon) bars. How do other members, who might suffer with knee, wrist and lower back problems, fare on the v11?
  23. Mmmmmmonza, they sound lovely with open pipes
