  1. I was lucky enough to stumble onto a 4500 mile '04 Ballabio with H&B bags/rack, Motobits pegs, Staintunes and a ROPER plate for $4,950. I tried to negotiate but soon came to my senses and said "Yes" , or was it "I Do"? I forget, but it is certainly a marriage of sorts. A commitment for sure.

  2. If a pristine, well-cared-for Nero/Rosso Corsa or Coppa Italia is worth $7500-8000US (and I believe they are), an original, unmolested (but cared for) early RedFrame Sport should be pushing 4000-4500. Maybe even 5000 if it is >perfect< and I loved it at first sight. Trouble is, just how much Beta testing and neglect these poor old RedFrames have suffered. I don't feel so much guilt because my one-owner Sport will never be For Sale. And I so much enjoyed molesting her my-own-self . . .

  3. I would say I have seen the very fewest black RedFrame Sports. Who knows if they are actually the rarest? But they are stunning, IMHO. This one was on the stage at EICMA 1997 . . . photo from a motorcycle magazine that sunk its teeth into me . . .

  4. My Father in law ( RIP) had an antique Art and collectables store in SF for years...When my wife would ask how much something was worth..he would say..its worth whatever its worth to you? How much do you have ? How bad do you want it? I always kind of go by that..How much do I have? and How bad do I want it?..that is really all that matters.

  5. My 2002 lemans drive shaft has a wobble when turning and the splines were binding so that it wouldn't come apart. Had to use a scissor jack to separate them. Splines are fine, well greased, but would only slide together halfway before binding. Turns out it is bent, hence the bind. I did some judicious sanding and filing and now it has full travel. I went on a short ride and didn't notice any shake from the possible imbalance. It must be stated that I have never ridden the bike before, it was very not running when I got it, stored outside in the elements for several years and in need of serious attention. So now my question: what should I do about it? Try to get it straightened, replace it, or leave it? The misalignment is noticeable when turning though I have not miked it to see how far out it is. If it can't be straightened, does someone have a replacement? I want to sell it but I'm not comfortable with it as is. Thanks in advance for any input.

  6. Not sure how the hell a drive shaft gets bent but if it is then it's time for a new one I'd say. The only possible option would be a drive shaft specialist but most only tackle the car shafts they are used to dealing with. I personally would have a go at straightening it in a press if it wasn't too bad, but that's me. It's definitely bent is it, I mean if the shaft is full of grease it can stop the splines fully engaging from memory and the suction can make them hard to get apart, or am I dreaming again? I wouldn't be surprised if you stuck a runout gauge on a Guzzi shaft it would have .010"-.020" runout. ciao

  7. Hey Doc.......... Is it just me or are some of the members starting to use the word UNMOLESTED a little more now? I love that word when describing a pristine well taken care of Goose.......... covers a lot of ground. PS. Good luck Photo on grabbing that one.

  8. If it's bent, don't ride it fast or far. Just for "shake downs" no pun intended. The vibe will eventually blow out the uni joints. I saw a shaft from an '04 on ebay a short while back, low miles I recall. Hang in there, you'll get it sorted. You're in the right place.

  9. Are we talking 1100 Sport injection? When you undo the clips on the lines there will be some spillage, but anytime I've had the tank off on mine (and that's a lot) neither inlet (petcock side) to the system nor return (fuel regulator) needed anything special. Simply undo the jubilee clamps or whatever else is holding the lines onto the petcock and the regulator then pull them off Be prepared for fuel to run out the lines but it doesn't spray everywhere if that's what concerns you at least mine never has.

  10. Docc, I don't have any more info just a fuzzy pic. The owner is well off and down in Florida till late April. He has an RSV and 850t turned into a sweet V7 replica that money was no issue wHen built. He takes care of his stuff but all of them have low miles, I don't know how low. It's said he wants to sell them all in one deal which I probably can't swing so not sure I'll even get the chance to buy. I'm just trying to be prepared when the time comes. So I won't buy this, https://mankato.craigslist.org/mcy/d/waseca-1979-moto-guzzi-lemans-1000cc/7287672752.html

  11. Remove the clip on tube from the fork clamp then the throttle tube will slide off the other end, best to get some bar ends to fit your renthals

  12. I was going to try and reuse the weights in the new bars if they would fit. Also I need to remove the throttle tube from the original handlebar.
