Good to see it's not obsolete. Think I'll wait until I absolutely need it. Sort of like waiting for the Low Fuel lamp to come on while not knowing if it actually works.3 points

Model year, which could be a digit off from manufacture date.2 points

I haven't been tracking this thread but noticed so much activity, and possible problems noted. I copied my post from last December on a lithium I've been running. It's been perfect, no problems, very satisfied. I haven't trickled charged it once, granted I ride at least every two weeks or so. Posted December 9, 2022 YTZ14S Z14S Lithium Ion 12v Battery, 1.98lbs, CCA 300, $122. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00O179I9W?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details I currently am using this on my 2003. Note: the height of this battery is only 3.4", thus it can be mounted upright, accounting for the positive terminal being on the left, as opposed to the OEM being on the right. Update: this battery has been working perfect, not a single problem. Since this purchase however I ordered a NOCO lithium for my KLX250 and was more impressed than I ever have been with any lithium brand. In the future, I plan to stick with NOCO.2 points

Look for this Hawker Odyssey nomenclature change: ODS-AGM15L https://www.odysseybattery.com/products/ods-agm15l-battery-pc545/ [edit: Last four posts moved here for clarity and continuity.]2 points

The more pertinent question might be, "How much distance gets covered?" Say, from a US Interstate "typically tolerated" 80 mph to 130 and back down to 80: Just bench racing the V11, I figure that could take 30 seconds, maybe more. So, nearly a mile. (Check my work . . .) That'd be one flyin' mile!2 points

Here, it is the year on the Certificate of Origin which is reflected in the VIN. The actual build date could be in the prior year.1 point

Haha, went over my head. I didnt think so either. Owner is out of town until Saturday and said he will give me VIN. That will tell the tale. The tenth digit will be either ending in a 3 or 4 I suspect. I went through this with my V11, another glaring error. Was listed as a 2004, you guys looked at it and said no way, it is a 2001. Title said 2004, PO maintained it is a 2004 and my new title still says that, DMV couldnt change it. Build date on headstock and VIN both prove them all wrong. Go figure.1 point

Turns out whether or not you get a penalty for exceeding track limits like Binder did depends on how close the guy behind you is, or if you make a pass on the guy in front of you (so they say). Martin did not get a penalty because no one was behind him, and he did not use the extra speed gained to make a pass on Aleix. In fact, he didn't try a last lap pass (he says) because he knew he ran on the green and knew they would take the spot back. Meanwhile, Aleix says he saw Binder run onto the green and figured they would give him the spot over Binder. So no reason to risk it.1 point

A few years ago there was a link (on here) to article involving the topic , It didn't take long to read so I looked at the rest of the page . Then there was an article about BMW riders n shift indicators. They mockingly said " there was a BMW rider that sued BMW because he rode The Iron Butt in !st gear" .1 point

Yes. The "Z" stands for the german word "Zubehör", i.e. "Accesories". In the Stein Dinse jargon, that means a part from a 3rd-party supplier. I have that information from a Stein Dinse employee who was quite active in the german forum for a while. https://www.stein-dinse.biz/product_info.php?products_id=4644851 point

I wonder if these V11 replacement universal joints are available still from that same supplier in Montreal. Or if they could be sourced elsewhere? If you change them out, remember to retain the special, angled, reduced size Zerks fitted to your originals.1 point

It is the PC545 MJ (Metal Jacket) that has the metal case. FWIW, Odyssey looks to be changing the nomenclature: PC545 = ODS-AGM15L PC545MJ = ODS-AGM 15MJ The MJ is one pound heavier and 0.10 inches longer and wider (same height). The "Extreme" series are ODX prefix, but I am not seeing the 15L in that current series: https://www.odysseybattery.com/extreme-series-battery-specifications/1 point

Hands down, the most amazing rubber product I have ever encountered is Shin Etsu Grease. Developed for Honda (car), and sold as a Honda part number, it has a phenomenal effect on rubber. https://www.collegehillshonda.com/product/08798-9013.html1 point

Yes docc. I've been storing rubber parts for all my bikes as you suggest for quite a few years including the tank top chin pad. when I need a new rubber part I just order and extra 1 then give it a good spray in Armour all and bag and box it. My motorcycle beneficiaries will thank me for it one day. Ciao1 point

Still a good question. I wonder if this tidbit* of info may help: Having waited three months for the Harper order to ship, I placed an order with MGCyce and they shipped the next day. They'll be here today. *What I noticed is that MGCycle has the original part (01114300) superseded with 01114390. As to the point, I have to think that we will continue to see increasing numbers of V11 parts become No Longer Available. Very common with 20+ year old motorcycles (and cars), especially rubber parts that suffer not only from use, but heat, UV, and time (oxidation/ hardening). For those of us committed to keeping and maintaining these fabulous V11, it seems prudent to have spare intake boots sealed in a bag and stored in a cool, dry, dark place.1 point
