Had no idea when I posted Paul Fuhrman's lovely V11 build it would lead to 8 pages of art philosophy. Almost forgot what started all this discussion [emoji28] Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk5 points

Same here, I'm no wine snob and I tend to stick with Southern France, where I was born and raised. Cotes du Rhone, Languedoc, the cheaper the better (Guzzi content). Trader Joe's has the best selection at the best price, here is one of my favorites: https://www.reversewinesnob.com/tenebres-gsm/ And if I feel like splurging on an exotic bottle, I never stray too far from what I know... Cheers!4 points

"Good conversation ." I have grown my concepts from the "thought bubbles." Even discussed this with my wife, an artist of note. I'm betting she comes back to me tomorrow with more "input." Wifeys do that sort of thing, you know . . . I'll have to ask her (former pro ballet dancer, painter, pearl jewelry designer/builder) if she does, actually, consider mySport "a work of art" . . .4 points

sure, Canon 6D EF100-400, ISO 250, 340mm, f5.6, 1/320s 16 mp 5045x3257 4.9MB. THE STORY IS. All the restoration creds go to my friend John U.. stripped to the bone and rebuilt with a lot of new parts (Gilardoni kit of course) in 2003.. He’s clearing out the Guzzi stuff and keeping 2 Corvettes. I bought it earlier this year but was busy and too hot to work on it till now. Pretty much all I did was put the tank back on and connected with some new gas and battery she struggled for a moment then fired up. Carbs were clean but not in sync and I got stuck figuring out a stuck choke which took longer than it should have but last time I owned a bike with carbs was my first Convert around the late 90’s. Since then only FI , a V11 Lemans, Bassa, Uly, and Hyperstrada. The Buell and Ducati were monstrously fast. I’m in the slow lane now with drum brakes etc.. Sunday rider.. when I want torq or speed I take my Tesla. Then the dogs can come too.3 points

G'day folk's. Thought I'd share my enthusiasm for these inner gloves. About seven years ago I bought a pair of Rukka Apollo gloves which in the early days were waterproof and comfortable. Then after about two years the bloody Gore-Tex liners would come out when you took them off in warm/hot weather and it was a nightmare trying to get them back in and wear the gloves! So rather than waste $300 or so bucks we pulled the liners out and my wife carefully cut and removed them from the main gloves meaning that they were essentially a separate pair of inner gloves. This worked well till recently when this flimsy pair started falling apart. The last straw was a VERY WET ride home with wet and COLD hands as by now the gloves are nowhere near waterproof anymore unless I use Dubbin on them regularly and at this stage I hadn't done so for a bit! After reading a review of the Infiniums I bought a pair for $55 and tried them! Very bloody impressed! They're like thermal undies for your hands being a tight /close fit. They're also windproof and very comfortable. I have managed to try them in the wet and hands remained warm and dry.The old set-up was ok down to 5 deg's and painful below that, but recently I've been caught out twice in the cold. The first time was 3 deg's leaving home and minus 1 on the flats! Yep it was brutal but not nearly as bad as the old set up which had me screaming in the helmet to try and take my mind off the pain in similar weather.Another time it was 4 on leaving home and 1-2 degrees for about 20 k's and although it was uncomfortable it was still much better than the old set-up as well. I usually avoid riding in temps under 5 but these jiggers make it possible providing it doesn't go too far below it or for prolonged times! (also helps if you go easy on the throttle too, as wind chill is wicked at speed) Money really well spent as it means I'll also get a few more years outa the Rukka main gloves! Cheers Guzzler3 points

Not a V11 but today I rode my Ambo around a few blocks, fresh from a 6 year nap.3 points

I like my wines like my motorcycles... bold, full-bodied, dark, intense, Italian. Suggested pairing: Moto Guzzi Nero Corsa, followed by a fine (aka artisan) Montepulciano. In case you've never heard of it... "Montepulciano is the 2nd most planted red grape in Italy (after Sangiovese) and has had a reputation for low-priced juicy “pizza-friendly” red wines. Fortunately, there are several producers in Abruzzo that have shown the amazing potential of this grape by producing inky, black-fruit driven, chocolatey wines best enjoyed after 4 or more years of aging. Medium-bodied red wines like Montepulciano generally pair with a wide variety of foods due to natural elevated acidity. However, with Montepulciano, the robust herbal and tobacco-like flavors with grippy tannin often call for richer and more savory foods. Montepulciano will cut through some of the meatiest meats (like beef brisket) and pair nicely alongside rich, roasted winter vegetables. If you learn only one tip about pairing with Montepulciano, it is to match it with something with substance (fat)." source: https://winefolly.com/deep-dive/montepulciano-wine-guide/3 points

I was given a bottle of Chianti a month or so and not tried it as yet.. Might have to try it tomorrow afternoon after my wee jaunt on the Italian mistress. Cheers3 points

Yeh, sorry Docc. I meant isopropyl alcohol, or any mild solvent. Using your IPA would be wasted.3 points

All this thought bubbling got my thoughts bubbling, perhaps fueled by a proper dose of Scotch Ale . . . I would regard mySport as "art" when on the plinth with the footlights and gallery lighting, but its status changes as soon as the tools come out or it is rolled off the plinth, er, lift. Then, it instantly exists to hide a hole.3 points

I had two folks wig out on me, so two pair still available. But you're in Germany. If I knew earlier, I could have brought some with me. I'm in Sweden now, just a tad closer.2 points

Pretty sure this requires no "moderation", just clarification: "Collars and Nipples " can mean more than one thing, but we are talking motorcycle parts, here. No, really!2 points

I installed mine in 2017 and they shared the odometer procedure with my. I posted it a few pages back. Pretty sure even the older units' odometer can be set to a specified starting point. [edit: Here is the procedure to set the odometer to your desired value, on Page 11 of this thread/ May 19, 2017:2 points

Lots of us wash in IPA. Some prefer Scotch Ale. We might be talking about different things . . .2 points

Perhaps my favorite red. otherwise a chianti ..... (I usually drink wine with a meal, so I'm no expert) I'll admit (being a philistine), it's usually a Yellowtail Shiraz in the bin.2 points

True, so to support my logic I would need an arrow on the wall and signage "hole behind" or some such wording. Phil2 points

please don't listen to me about wine. I only have it occasionally with a meal. Not what I drink when I want to have a couple of drinks (Scotch).1 point

My old sensor leaked just enough to bother me. It appeared to be through the sensor, not around the o-ring. I washed it in IPA, & heated it over 100°C with a heat gun a few times. While it was hot I brushed epoxy resin all over the sensor and blew the excess off with the heat gun & a rag. As it cooled, some resin wicked into crevices in the sensor. It seemed to work. As for putting any gasket goo on an o-ring, I believe that's a bad idea. One or other is fine, but if the sealant doesn't stick to the o-ring, then you have added another leak path, and inhibited the O-ring's ability to keep sealing with thermal movement.1 point

Today's programme: On the way to the garage, I went past a local ironmonger shop and picked up a 14 mm Hex key 1/2" drive socket. When I got to the garage, I discovered that it didn't fit into the end of the axle. Closer inspection revealed that some ham-fisted moron had belted the end of the axle so hard with a steel hammer that the socket was deformed inwards, and the head of the axle was deformed outwards so much that it was stuck in the swing arm. A bit of controlled violence on my part with a copper hammer and a block of wood got it out, hopefully without bending anything. Incidentally, the nut on the other end of the axle was definately no where near 120 NM tightening torque. Further: one of the wheel bearings is pretty grotty, and both the swingarm bearings. The front uni-joint doesn't feel good. It has a "stop" in the middle in one direction, sort of like what happens to head-stem bearings when they start going west. And the rear shock looks like it is leaking. On the good side, the front torque arm bolt was nicely greased and looks good as new, and the "hidden" roller bearing in the final drive also looks good. I was worried about the swing-arm bolts as I took them out; they both felt 'orrible. However, a bit of patience and working the threads back and forth with liberal applications of Ballistol got them cleaned up. Does anyone happen to know a manufacturer and part number for the uni-joints?1 point

Today is mySport's 23rd anniversary, but too much rain and too many patients to ride. Hopefully Saturday before the heat index goes crazy. I did review my latest maintenance notes. What I am calling my 130,000mile/210.000 km service - The last ten weeks and two thousand miles brought just about every service interval together: tires, all brakes/pads, all hydraulics (including clutch master rebuild), complete "Decent Tune-up" (with a new TPS), tank off with air/fuel filters, oil/filter, and truly-and-actually greased "that farking front U-ee !"1 point

When I bought my 03 Rosso new in 2004 from MG Vespa in New Orleans I was told that it was one of 57 imported to the U.S. Just another tid bit of information. Still have her and still running strong!1 point
