  1. Thanks everybody. Sorry, for not explaining everything. Bike 100% original when l bought it. She was running ok, just the 3000rpm hesitation. Went thru EVERYTHING, installed complete new exhaust with Titanium mufflers and ECU, valves 0.2+, just one mouse in my house. Today l took out the TPS, checked again, no glitch, set it to 157mv. Start’s perfect and runs perfect. Me thinks Phil had a point with the regulator. Boy was she running RICH, like an old Volvo with full choke. Fuel fumes for hours upstairs. Mini test ride because of the weather, but no problems compared to the same test ride yesterday. Oh well, always something to learn. Thanks again guys. Cheers Tom.

  2. All I meant to do was a make a joke about records vs electronic media. I intended to post a recent Doonesbury cartoon that I remembered and thought would be funny. The link was the only image that I could find on the 'net. I didn't see the other links your cite and don't see them now. Anyways, apology. I don't like as you describe political bullshit or wankers as well. So we're in agreement.. (You might not notice that I've generally refrained from posting music here for the reasons you've cited. I made an exception for the passing of Sly and Brian.)

  3. Fuel pressure regulator stuck closed. I've had the bike sitting for a extended period of time and turned the ignition on and heard the pump prime and labour then a sudden distinctive "pop" as the regulator unsticks itself. You will get away with a rich mixture due to a jammed reg with a cold engine but not when it's warmed up. Phil

  4. Has it been given a full tune up? Has it been fitted with any tuning widgets?

  5. Did it run well previously? What has been changed since then that could cause running rich? Intake somehow restricted, mice moved into air box or something else restricting air box ? TPS has some issue?

  6. All sorted. So thanks for all your help!!! A decent tuneup was needed. Way beyond my capabilities. Runs like a dream!! Had new angle gt 2 tires done at the same time as the old ones were full of puncture slime.I get putting that crap in to get you home but that’s about it. I’d never sell a motorcycle on knowing that stuff was in the wheels! Still, sorted now.

  7. The title says "drowning in fuel", but you describe a defect that appears to be related to heat. Why do you suspect fuel? I agree with @pressureangle that valves too tight could be the problem. I had these symptoms when I set the valves to the original factory specs. Setting to "world spec" clearances fixed it. Your idea of heating the rev sensor to 100°C while measuring the resistance is a good idea too.

  10. I rather hope that mine doesn't break. What I like about the original "wire tang" is that I can reach it with my hand to put the side-stand down whilst sitting on the bike. That might sound impractical, but it is actually (for me) very comfortable.

  11. So interesting to watch this development, @swooshdave! Having replaced a couple of the factory wire "levers", I settled on using the broken safety retention washer that failed to retain my gearbox input hub. I'm not sure if that is way-cool or sad&pathetic, but "it is" . . .

  13. Good call on that. I have to set traps in my cars sometimes. Ahhh, country living.

  15. I tried to reduce that quote so it takes up less space, but I can't figure it out. Whatever, what I wanted to say is that the Doonesbury comic is quite funny, but that the other two links that came with it are crap. The "by u/Continuity Error" link is (in my humble opinion) political bullshit with a tendency to right-wing , and the "audiophile" link is wankers showing off what they have as a hi-fi system in their lounge room. Maybe good stuff, but as an audio professional I just can't take that seriously.

  16. Nice. I'm glad you can ride it again.
