Well, the 'ol 97 came to me in boxes so I don't get to compare-hoping to make the '25 SSR with it...we'll see My 1100 Sport injectors were just slightly worse and a little more out of balance, it made a *huge* difference- I had to take 10% of the fuel out across the board, and of course everything was just smooth and silky afterwards. Had to rebalance the throttle bodies as well.3 points

This appears to be the charging reference connector for the regulator: edit/ June 25, 2025: See post below. This is not the two wire (black + white) charging reference on the left side of the frame: While these two "bullet connectors" look to be the yellow wires that should connect to the stator to the regulator (without them connected, there will be no charging unless someone has connected the stator/alternator another way): Has the regulator been replaced/ modified? What is the battery voltage, key off, then the voltage at idle and at "some" rpm?3 points

These images remind me of what I used to get emailed to me as an aircraft troubleshooting engineer. We've got this damage/crack/corrosion/defect and I'm sending images for you to look at. Ok. Often blurry but also often crystal clear but without context. I'd call back and ask them to send images with regards to the contextual location on the wing/fuse/engine wherever. Where something is located EXACTLY with regards to the machine is often half the clue to what it is or what it means. Phil2 points

+ in this movie Batman runs off w/Catwoman (Julie Newmar) and leaves crime fightin' to The Boy Wonder & the M/V Agusta . He could pick any of the other Catwomen left (his choice) to help him fight crime or TCB !2 points

Or a Scura with matte black Lemans fairing added. I think the non-glossy Scura fits The Batman. And batman needs the grabby, high-performance single-plate clutch. And the yellow forks would complement the vintage batsuits with the yellow accents.2 points

Don't really know why, but "Piano Man" brings me to this. One of my favourite Queen songs, although most of their songs are my favourite Queen song. Nitpicking: what one sees in that video has, of course, very little to do with the recording apart from that they are "playing along" to the recording for the video.2 points

The caveat emptor express has been doing its thing. Hard to trust a rescue bike sometimes.2 points

Exactly. I have that issue at work; nothing at all to do with this topic, but still the same. We have to do things like install cue lights in the set for a production, set up mobile video monitors with the conductor visible on them, maybe an audio monitor. It's all well and good when you have just been through the final phase of the rehearsal process. You've been there as it developes, and know where and why it all has to be. The thing is, a production in an Opera house like the one I work in can go into storage for a couple of years, and then be brought back into the repertoire again. And then you look at the documentation, lists, photos and so on, and ask yourself "Häää?". Where exactly is that, and what exactly is its purpose? Good photos and precise documentation are the Alpha and Omega, and everything in between, and a bit more on top.1 point

@Kapiti kiwi, I keep looking at this image and really can't make it out. Can you take a sharper image, further out and tell us where any of those wires go ? I suspect some "custom wiring" and possibly a replacement regulator (with the original left in place, but disconnected) . . .1 point

You never get 100% out of your bike until you put 100% into doing the fuel injectors. If anything , you find out they are producing everything they are supposed to do.1 point

Mine never had one. It was a Friday afternoon special built from the reject parts bin I think. I never replaced the tang and don't miss it. I'm not too fussed about keeping it original which is lucky.1 point

in that video, I'm fairly convinced (nitpicking again) that one is seeing what one is hearing, i.e. a direct recording of the video and the audio. A bit too much compressor on the vocal for my taste, but very good. Indeed he does, as I have read. Billy Joel PERIOD, yes that one, but also this one. Yes, I know it is clichéd to hell, but it is a brilliant song. also very convincing in terms of "what one sees and what one hears". The only thing (nitpicking): I don't believe the microphone in front of the guitar. The guitar has a pick-up in it, and a cable hanging out of it. The pictures seem to be "open air", and the sound is very, very direct. I reckon the pick-up is pretty good, the audio is directly off the pick-up, and the mic is just in the video as part of a sponsorship deal.1 point

I didn't know he is a Guzzi rider big plus for Billy Joel! I just needed a little distraction before getting back to it.1 point

I like the C.B. Docc has on his bike. the good thing about the factory set-up on mine , it will never fail because I will never ride them. The one thing I have is the fuses w/the LED that glow when the fuse fails. Expensive , yes. GREAT , YES .1 point

Yea I'm not a big fan of the CARC drive either or even the V1000, a bit too bulky for mine. Thats one of the reasons why I wanted the different wheels for my bike so I could ditch the bevel box shroud and have a compact and neat final drive in a shaft driven bike. Compact, neat, elegant, mechanically interesting. Still too heavy for a sporting bike but you can't have everything. Phil1 point

I've always wanted to love BMW motorcycles, being 1/4 German and having lived in Bavaria as a youth. I recall taking a bright yellow BMW 1100 Sport for a test ride while mySport was hors de combat for a warranty thing. First lesson in German engineering solutions was the "servo" braking popular at the time. I knew about it, but was really shocked rolling the thing out of the dealer's shop down a slope on the concrete apron. The hand lever did so absolutely NOTHING to slow the bike I melted my boot soles using them as brake pads on the concrete. Fine, I thought. I knew about that; just didn't expect it to be that ridiculous. After all, hardly anyone (!) rolls their bike around, unstarted, using the front brakes for control . . . Once underway, I kept (stupidly) flaring a knee out to look down at the "Big Twin" cradled below. Just wanted to get a visual confirmation it was actually there. There was zero motor feel. Not just compared to my(lusty)Sport. I've had Hondas, too. Somewhere in my distant consciousness, I heard a gathering of Bavarian engineers toasting with their steins of Märzen bier, "Vee have saved Doktor Hennz from zee annoyance of zee motor !" Thinking better of my distracted foolishness, I focused on the path of travel. With no "twisties" to engage, lane changing became the test of handling. It seemed just changing lanes required a Morse Code message from the helm to the Steering Control Room where the request was translated to German and transmitted to those same Bavarian engineers who celebrated yet further, "Vee have saved Doktor Hennz from the annoyance of feeling the road feedback and deplorable handling characteristics of such substandard motorcycles as the RedFrame V11 Sport." (Cue more stein clanking and proud celebration. ) I was soooo happy to get back on mySport . . . .1 point

A little solo time early this am - 120 miles of backroads before a breakfast burrito stop in Campo. Happy Fathers day to all the dads here. Pizza night tonight with my oldest daughter. Mexico and Italy have the same colors on their flags, and they have the best food groups. Coincidence? I think not. Red, White, and Green. Tomato, Mozzarella, and Basil. Or Red Salsa, Sour Cream, and Green Chili.1 point
