  1. Well done, @Cabernet! I am honoured at the "thank you." Pretty sure my thermistor's use-cycles and hours have made it less responsive. It has become less of a "low fuel warning" and more of a laughing crow cawing, "You've Run Out of Fuel, you dolt !"

  2. I've built two single spark 1400's. There is a lot of work involved. Torque is prodigious. Outright power increase is minimal. Enlarging the motor produces big difficulties with oil expulsion/crankcase pressurisation. As you say the oil cooling circuits between the single spark and twin spark engines are entirely different and I've never heard an adequate explanation of how these people have addressed that issue. The reason why much greater power is well nigh impossible to get is because of the side draft head design, narrow included valve angle and combustion chamber shape. Effect of cam changes will be minimal. I don't doubt that they are fun to ride, I just don't get why people have to make silly claims for them.

  7. Correct. 👍😎 No US V11 models. Only the later V11 models destined for European countries, including Britain, Australia. New Zealand. The US models missed out on the 15RC ecu which has the O2 sensor closed loop feedback. I’d pointed this out previously. This is an international forum where folks with v11’s outside the US come seeking information.

  8. Yeah, that's about 26°C, and just under the point where I start thinking about maybe risking going out for a walk without a jacket.

  9. Oh for fucks sakes. Yeah, believe it. Then look at where the torque and horsepower graphs cross. There are also huge problems with crankcase pressurisation and oil expulsion if you increase the swept volume of the motor. I do tire of this bullshit.

  10. You forgot the dots. TÜV. If the keyboard doesn't have the appropriate key, the correct form is "TUEV". That is a pretty good approximation of how it is pronounced, too. The sound of the the "ü" (as well as the "ö" and the "ä") doesn't exist in english. It has to be learned, and after nearly 30 years here, I still don't consistently hear the difference to "u", "o" and "a". Other than that, and the ramdon gender of articles, german is a pretty cool language. Very precise. But yes, the TÜV, DEKRA, GTÜ and KÜS are the businesses that carry out the bi-annual inspection, and the ones the have the kittens. The TÜV is the most common in what was formerly West Germany, and having the inspection done is commonly referred to, approximately, as "getting the TÜV".

  11. I will be very disappointed if the factory does not make a limited edition Dr. John tribute bike or at least a livery as they do for Tenni. We may, as a group, want to relay that to the factory - if there is a formal way of doing so. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk

  12. Still some snow on the lawn and in the woods, but the sun was out and temp was 53, and wife said do it. What else does a moto guy need to know, I did it. Road for about 2.5 hours being cautious in the curves cus the roads were still heavily dusted from winter sanding. Ahhhhh it felt good to get the first ride in.

  13. I can say once summer is here, and the motor has its normal running heat in it, both of my LeMans (02 stock/03 exhaust mods) ping slightly under hard accel. Primarily at hard acceleration when speeds are above 60-70 mph. My 2016 Norge also does this during summer heat, and same hard accel, but this ECU has been reflashed by GuzziTech. I run alcohol free 93 octane in all my Guzzis to minimize.

  15. As a general position on technical things I have little regard for "who invented it" or who came up with the original concept or design. My admiration goes to those who perfected or refined the original design or concept into something outstanding. Thats where the real effort, skill and genius is. Some of course manage to do both but who the hell give a damn about the original thought bubble. We don't really care or are interested in the individual that created the first wheel or ancient rocket or bridge or a million other things what we are interested in is the people that came after and utilised the "concept" and made it into a functional, rational, safe and efficient thing. Some ancient Chinese person invented the rocket but it took a lot more smarts to create a Saturn 5 rocket to send man into space. Original thinking is overvalued, methodical development and perfection a design or concept is where the real respect deserves to be. Phil
