  1. It most likely was not bored out of round, so was pounded out of round. I don't suppose that anyone has a hydraulic mandrel handy that would compress the bearing cavity back to spec, so perhaps a machine shop or bike frame shop could bore the steering head out, but then how to find an over-size race? I suppose that you would have to machine a shim and Loc-Tite it into place. Q: Would J-B Weld be sufficiently strong to fill the gap? Even if it failed, it would be no worse than before.
  2. Just musing here, but If the headstock bores are concentric, you "could" have the OD of the races plated so as to match them more closely to the headstock. As I said, just musing.
  3. I bag everything (Ha!) before I stuff it into the monkey paw trap. Waterproof and it all comes out together: SPF ball cap, registration, spare earplugs and.....ummm.....no - that's it.
  4. Both would sell. We are in the age of the blade runner, after all.
  5. Maybe post the VIN for comparative purposes. Was it a cosmetic total or some other damage?
  6. Due to the free crack pipe kerfuffle in the States, this song is reverberating... Cameo by Lou Reed.
  7. D'oh! Reverse engineered the price! Still pretty fair. I pointed it out to DW and she said "You already have a red motorcycle"
  8. Love their tech, but the bodywork seems squashed flat to my eyes. MGS-01 bodywork would perfect it for me. If I must have one, kindly make it red. $18.500 USD, but it's in the UK. https://www.westsussexspecialistcars.co.uk/ghezzi-brian-supertwin-1100-moto-guzzi-in-west-sussex-6336925
  9. A good and true friend. May he rest in eternal peace, and may his wife and loved ones receive consolation in this time of sorrow. Personal beliefs, but our task now is to follow him there.
  10. Don't know if this helps, but there is an O-ring specialist in the Czech Republic (Bohemia Seal). They stock an amazing variety of sizes and materials in O-rings and all manner of seals. They sell primarily on eBay. They came to my rescue when I needed a very specific O-ring for a SRAM 9.0 rear derailleur I was modifying. https://www.ebay.com/str/bohemiasealoring/O-ring-inner-dia-from-10-to-20/_i.html?store_cat=25950217018
  11. So many compromises were made. Aprilia did well with their improvements, but the bike strikes me as the motorcycle version of a "resto-mod" vintage V8 car, by upgrading to modern suspension, tires, brakes and electronics. The final version works quite well, but the design, for all of its lovability, was shall we say, very mature. It is difficult to explain, but I think that Aprilia's thinking (technologically) was looking down on Guzzi hoping to raise it while Piaggio's is looking from below and not exactly certain of what to do. Suffice it to say there will never be another V11.
  12. Sadly, the increasingly popular centerstand license frame is incongruous.
  13. Well, at 120-130K one-handed, it is rather peaceful. Downside: Every kid in a slammed Civic or Jetta wants to race.
  14. Nice! Almost exactly the mileage on my '04 when I bought it. As to desireability, a "homeless" young woman holding a cardboard sign at the freeway off-ramp stopped begging for a moment and said "Nice bike." I'll grant you that I have the red version.
  15. Oh yeah. Wrestled with that bit on my '04. It is a combo rim attachment/anti-crush device that is apparently installed at the factory with the light pointing vertically.
  16. If I can buy fresh Mikuni VM24 carb tops for my 1966 Yamaha, then someone will certainly step up in the case of Guzzi. And, higher grade materials would likely be used, if one is going to all that trouble.
  17. Sparkly is my once per year favorite. Have a bottle of Dom PĂ©rignon standing by.
  18. Any discernible difference in offset? It's meant to clamp 54mm tubes. Are the early V11 fork tubes that size?
  19. Guzzis are quite idiosyncratic. It's just that they idioSYNCH perfectly with a select few humanoids.
  20. This video is a hoot to watch. Hilarious Aussie take (oh, I'll hear about that...) on Italian engineering and craftsmanship. Was laughing out loud. Even though Jay confused the bevel drive with the Desmo system.
  21. Friends don't let friends have Guzzi-less dreams. Guzzi-loss?
