  1. I would be interested to know why she picked Guzzi? it is kind of an obscure brand outside of those who are really interested. Not that anybody can be affiliated with anything, matter of personal choice obviously. But if you say candidly you ride an Italian motorcycle, people will think Ducati. But was she a motorcycle enthusiast before, or did that happen with you? There were a few track racer ladies. Including a Spanish that used to do Moto2 MarĂa Herrera, and here in the USA I only know of Elena Myers;
  2. I am not a professional, but I always liked photography. It started a long time ago, so I did photo with a film camera and moved with the technology. I so far refused to use a phone, because I feel it denatures the purpose. Photography has now become a thoughtless process. I don't do selfies either. TS-E lenses are fascinating, and they can be used for anything as a standard prime one. There are a few domains where they excel at; you understood it correctly! if you look at the 6th photo from the top in my thread, you can tell I used this principle to have only the front row in focus. It is very useful in architecture too, as you get the perspective right. There also is the miniaturization effect, and the ability to shoot from the side and make it look like it is straight. Like shooting yourself in front of mirror, but with the camera invisible: The major draw back of these, they are bloody expensive (obviously), and manual focus only. But once you start using them, you are usually hooked up. I have two of the older ones. The 24mm and the 90mm. When I get around it, I will make some Le Mans Tilt and Shift examples. I also like Candid photography, the Robert Doisneau style. In today's world, people no longer want you to take pictures of them. However this Japanese lady was kind enough to let me. This was in Grom, NYC.
  3. Over the years, including ten spent in Italy, I found out you only get respected when you are on a V11...
  4. Awright! I think we have to create a specific topic for those of us who are into photography. I am into "Product Photography", and I love TS-E lenses. I use them everywhere I can.
  5. Finally, the ladies are going to take notice of you....
  6. Worth a shot.... I am curious. My experience of ladies on two wheels is limited to Europe; and even then, the girls on motorbikes were never legions. I have met a few riders here at a specialists in the heights in Houston. None on Moto Guzzi though. Most of the others I have discussed with, are passengers because their companion is riding a bike. So, not by choice. In July I was in Yellowstone and I met two (older) couples on Goldwings. Ladies piggyback only. During my training here in Houston, we had one single lady with the rest of us. Only getting her license for professional purpose. Checking with the school, ladies interested in getting their motorbike's license are not frequent. Just a handful. How is it in other states, your country? are there many (motorbike's riding) females joining your outings?
  7. Welcome to the club! although I have not been a member for a long time. You will not be disappointed!
  8. Look at this one... https://www.moto.it/moto-usate/moto-guzzi/v11/v11-le-mans-2001-06/8442609 The listing says: The bike, as you can see in the pics is perfect. Almost like new. It has not been ridden for a few years now, always garaged and kept in maniacal conditions. It needs a restart maintenance which has been estimated to 500/800 EUR by the dealer, which can be discounted from purchase price. 23,000 kilometers... 2003....
  9. But if you try sometime, you find you get what you need....
  10. The removable lens madness has spread. The last time I was at the International Dallas Guitar Festival, they also made my life difficult because of my camera bag. I was only able to keep my Fujifilm X100. Nowadays, anything that is not a phone is considered professional grade photography.
  11. You did post about the Armadillo. I am partial to Antone's myself. Closed as well. The Houston Rodeo and Live Stock show has similar restrictions about food or drinks. And since they search every bag at the entrance, they even remove water... And I have also had some issues bringing my cameras at some venues. If you have removable lenses, you need to pay for a license. Even if non professional photographer. They judge you by the equipment. You can only bring a fixed lens camera with you. No profit is too small nowadays....
  12. There is that guy who had a good idea; he designed TuneEcu to run on Android for about every bike available in the market, including some oldies. TuneEcu works with the same interface used for GuzziDiag; only the V11 is not specifically listed. I am trying to get in touch with the developer to see if he could had it. Then a simple Android tablet would do the trick. I have requested to join the TuneECU group on Facebook, to find out more.
  13. It is not only COTA; DORNA is also milking us profusely. Austin has also gone mad.... I usually go to the SXSW each year, and I have seen how the prices have just increased exponentially. Madness...
  14. You missed your chance to see Charlie Watts one last time though...
  15. Some countries have phone applications that produce a QR code verifying you have been vaccinated. You can produce it wherever it is required, if required. Even if US permanent resident, I am able to get it by producing a valid passport, signed declaration and of course the vaccine certificate. I don't understand why a US citizen would not be able to do the same!? the only information they should care for is the identity proof and the vaccination proof. Unfortunately, each European country as its own system, and no sharing with others. To preserve confidentiality.
  16. This is the issue with software. It always needs sustaining because operating systems and supports keep evolving. I think I will get a cheap windows laptop just to install the MS version which seems to be the one the developer of GuzziDiag maintains. on Ebay there are some listings below the $100, with a bit of patience...
  17. As I anticipate that you will be one of the lucky ones to go there, it would be great if you could take some pics of the gathering. Not necessarily the bikes of the Museum, but the crowd of people who share the interest in Moto Guzzi. This is (at least to me) the real treat. Meeting people and learning how they got there.
  18. Prior to purchasing the ECU Interface for the V11, I attempted to install GuzziDiag; The current version is said to be vr 0.50. it matches for Windows, but does not for Mac OS X which is shown as 0.47. Is 0.47 the latest version for MacOS? in the changelog, 0.50 was released (for windows) in 2020, while 0.47 was released in 2015. The developer states the program runs on "High Sierra" 10.13 which was released by Apple in September 2017. I am running Catalina, 10.15 released October 2019. Catalina is still based on MacOS X, not MacOS XI. I nevertheless installed the program on my MacBoo Pro. When I attempt to launch the program from the application folder, I get that error message: Question 1: I have read the disclaimer the developer does not support MacOS, this application is mainly destined to Windows machines. Anybody here running successfully GuzziDiag on a Mac? Question 2: Does anybody know if other program(s) exist(s) that could run on MacOS and still drive the FTDi FT232RL chip? I checked "TuneEcu" and the program is now only running on Android. There is nothing specific to the V11, but the developer may not have been accurate enough. Anyone running TuneECU?

    Decent Tune-up

The B part of the tune up requires this cable: https://www.lonelec.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=57_20&product_id=51 However, it is useless without GuzziDiag program, and as stated on the site, it has been tested with High Sierra 10.13. I don't own a MS computer, and my MacBook Pro runs Catalina (10.15.5). I have read that GuzziDiag does not run on Big Sur (11.5.2). To find out if the program and the FTDI driver work on 10.15.5, I still need to purchase the kit with the interface.
  20. Let's say that I have spent a lot of time in Scotland; my father thought it maybe useful to learn English, and he had that silly idea to make me spend my summer vacations in Ayr, a long time before I could even ride a mopped. The father of my host family was running a distillery, so as I was learning English, I also discovered the virtues of Scottish Whisky. A lot later, I spent time at the RGIT, and toured Scotland on my off time; I maybe one of the few non native Scottish who likes Haggis and Burn nights.... As I was working offshore Aberdeen, I hit it off with a guy from Caithness. Good memories. And you guys from Glasgow are difficult to understand.... lol...

    Decent Tune-up

As you, I don't think the tolerance in degrees is directly applicable to the sensor mV reading. If we had to work out an mV tolerance, we would have to map the full mV output along the opening. We are not even sure it is linear. But if it was, we could take readings and graph the TPS mV per each degrees; if we get a straight line, then we could derive the tolerance in mV. I am guessing we would not be able to correlate it though. Even the 157mV may not be applicable for every TPS. They are bound to have a tolerance too.

    Decent Tune-up

Is 157 mV the "zero" setting of the Throttle Position Sensor? e.g. with no throttle input, fully rested, one should aim to obtain 157 mV on the multimeter. I have ordered a Casper break out cable, and I have a Fluke. At this point I only want to check the reading. I don't want to adjust. What is the tolerance in mV? +/- 5 mV? From what I gathered, the TPS calibration is what needs to be checked periodically.
  23. @Weegie Will Creedon answered me, unfortunately he has no solution for my Le Mans... Anyway, I shall see you in Caithness; I have some Lagavulin if you are into SM.
