  1. Hi @ScuRoo are there any Aussie commentators like this you could recommend? I follow Matt Barrie (here he is on the Equity Mates show) and would be interested in others of a similar bent. I find it odd that people escape from UK to Oz, and yet the situation almost seems worse there (from the outside). cheers!
  2. Mea culpa… I mistakenly posted this Facebook greenie in the wrong thread. Can’t post any pics as they’re 1.5MB so here’s a link to the photos for those not on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/share/ek6bNH2nc2jnWiCe/?mibextid=79PoIi
  3. It’s an open group, I could see it and I’m not a member. I hope it’s okay to post but perhaps I should remove the phone number? Posting pictures on this forum is difficult but in case anyone is interested here’s the text. OK selling my absolutely immaculate 1994 Quota, located in Australia, 11000 genuine kms from new, 15000 dollars ono, ring me if you are interested. 0418 444 163 Mark Dean.
  4. @audiomick I have a screenshot just in case, and copied the link again. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/GUYw6A3g3EAQ5hDw/?mibextid=K35XfP
  5. For those who might be interested she's quite active on an FB Griso group and has a lovely bike to boot, an 8V Griso modded to 1.5litre & 120HP. https://www.facebook.com/groups/622200605964629/permalink/843931140458240/
  6. ah my bad, I guess I didn't read the post carefully enough! In the pictures there seemed to be a kind of hump along the tank, so I assumed that it was a chin-pad that had been filled in with a painted trim strip... in fact I recall seeing a carbon-fibre chin-pad tank on here somewhere... anyway, so I assumed it had a chin-pad but then the proportions of the tank made me think it was a long-tank. Just an absolutely stunning bike...
  7. So would this not fit a Ballabio? To my eye it looks similar to the Ballabio original fairing.
  8. @Mikko what is that sleeve you have on the air-intake boots? Look suspiciously like hiking gaiters to me !
  9. That is stunning. Would love to see the top of the tank ... maybe the angle is fooling me, but it sure looks like a long-tank!
  10. I think I have 43mm forks, but I should measure them. I remember reading that the final «long-tank» models have different forks.
  11. Just to end this story... the bike is back after a long winter, running better than ever, and boy, did it have problems that needed fixing... new alternator, new wiring harness, new rubber boots for the inlets, new oil sump... new forks have been ordered so I can send them to Andreani for a cartridge replacement/tune-up and I want to put the original bar-end weights back on, but they always shook loose and I don't know how to get them working well with the current red-anodized bar-end mirror mounts. I've also considered painting the valve covers red, and re-painting/anodizing the pork-chops to have everything a uniform color. Seeking opinions (and pics) of red valve covers, because I quite like this grey stealth (beat up streetfighter) look.
  12. I can still see it but the seller had said they found a buyer pdq. I’m not sure if one is supposed to post pictures on this thread but I can if anyone is interested. I downloaded them 😃 as I’m enamoured with the idea of owning any Guzzi Tenni.
  13. Tenni in Tennessee! https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1043339023698515/?mibextid=6ojiHh …beautiful with low miles!
  14. It will be going in for service next week. Thank you for the suggestions everyone. @andy york I checked under the boot, there's some leaking fuel there though this is not conclusive (per docc's post on not pressurizing the fuel system & this one). @footgoose I will try that, thanks for the suggestion. @audiomick will also get the pan dropped, it wasn't dropped on the last oil change. With fresh fluids and a test ride that didn't indicate anything wrong, the mechanic seems to think it isn't the big end, so I'm hoping against hope that this is not a big-end problem, though that intermittent oil light gives me nightmares. Currently searching the forum for oil lamp and oil pump issues.
  15. @pete roper that's what I was afraid of, and yes, the noise/vibration is worse with an open throttle, like a LUNK LUNK sound. I am running your sloppage plate. The oil light has come on intermittently for the last two rides. The oil was changed a few months ago too. I wonder what the cause was, did the oil pump give out, or something else that caused the oil pressure light to come on intermittently? I suppose this problem is not fixable and that the engine is done for? @Lucky Phil & @audiomick both cylinders are firing, I checked the exhaust is fine on both. So unfortunately we have a big end problem... I will see if I can get a better video, but it's probably best not to run the engine any more...
  16. So today I experienced a loss of engine power, unusual shaking and vibrations, and the engine oil light came on. Then the bike lost power, the engine cut out and then had difficulty starting. I barely made it home on severely reduced power. Some history: A few months ago I had a false alarm when the oil light came on after a hard stop. But it also came on intermittently on a short ride a few days ago. The oil & all fluids were recently changed, then, a few weeks later, one cylinder wasn't firing and the spark plugs were black with soot, and were replaced by the mechanic who gave it a good 20 minute shakedown to ensure things were running well. Other than that it runs well, the gearbox is smooth etc. (today I was practicing clutch-less upshifts and the gearbox never gave any trouble). There's no oil leakage at all, no spots on the garage floor where I park it. The oil spots in the video are from checking the oil with the dipstick, and it does look very dirty considering it was replaced this spring. What could these problems be caused by? I fear that I've broken something inside the engine. The engine slows down and the handlebar shake can be seen near the end of the video, and then it just cuts out. I had to limp home on very little power and low revs.
  17. “2004” … I should add it to the registry but wasn’t sure which category registry it fits into. Head and tail lights aren’t original anyway. And the forks don’t match (aren’t the Cafè Sports supposed to have gold ohlins?) and I’m not sure the “suspenders” were meant to be red.
  18. Thank you all, and to clarify, yes the Roper plate is on the bike, there was some hard acceleration and braking, but no wheelies. I remember the light being on for a few seconds after I stopped at the light (directly after the hard braking) but I drove slowly for a bit and it went away, though not immediately, and I wasn't diligent in checking on it. I rode the bike again the next day and there was no light. So I don't suppose it was a loose or disconnected wire. I will check the oil level, it was refilled during a recent service but I suppose the shop only put in the standard amount. Does adding the Roper plate call for more oil? I read a thread about drilling the dip-stick, and then another about a similar oil-gauge situation that was traced to a loose washer on the oil filter... since mine was recently replaced I should get it checked.
  19. So yesterday I had to do an emergency stop at a pedestrian controlled light. I could’ve gone through but figured I’d been practicing, so here was a chance to get some honest practice in a more “earnest“ situation. Anyway, a screech and a skid later, as I sheepishly but proudly walked the bike a half foot back and reflected on mayhap having grabbed the clutch a tad bit, I noticed the oil pressure gauge had lit up. I took it as a bit of a finger wagging from my Italian mistress, excessively tickled by the throttle perhaps… Except, she was mad at me all the way home for another ten minutes! Is this something I need to worry about or is the oil pressure gauge somehow triggered by heavy acceleration and braking?
  20. I think I have this headlight and while it’s not the original look it’s not bad. The bike now is less sport-naked and quite a bit more street-fighter. I was going to say sport-naked/street-fighter but that makes it sound like an erotic Jean Claude Van Damme movie.
  21. Hi Al, What's the procedure? Do you just ship them the whole assembly and they send it back? So far every seller I have contacted spoke in turn with Andreani and said it can't be done. But it just struck me, that the sellers were all in Italy and almost certainly were talking with Andreani in Italiano. I'm beginning to suspect my issue may be a non-issue if everybody just spoke l'Americano.
