  1. BFG If i saw all that crap in the bottom of my bikes sump i would be worried . was going to suggest send a oil sample away for analysis but dont think they could tell you anything more than you already know. Have you opened up the oil filter to see what crap was trapped in there!!! Gary
  2. i only have one black hose to connect to the tank (right side) for the overflow, wasnt the other hose for the tip over mechanism/charcoal cannister that is fitted to US bikes!!, maybe that gubbins should be junked.
  3. Cant help you with any auto part, but the rubber boot that supposedly protects the terminals on mine is split all over so its only a matter of time before mine fails as well. Has anyone got a part no. For that or a fix !!!
  4. Not sure if you are commenting on the fuel economy of your bike, or the cost of fuel these days. As a resident of the area with the highest gasoline prices in North America, I understand your situation,,,,and know that the prices we pay in NA are just a % of the prices you have to deal with in Scotland. If you are refering to your mileage per tankfull, I think your bike is in the average that can be expected with the spine frame V11's. Steve It was just a general comment on the price of petrol here, i could have got it cheaper if i bought it from a supermarket forecourt or bought lower octane, but it was the first full tank this year and i wanted fresh high octane running through her.
  5. Well if it has the internal fuel pump you should take off the tank retaining bolt, lift the tank at the back and stick something to keep it up a couple of inches for easier access. You will have 2electric plugs to disconnect ( fiddly) then disconnect the QD,s on the fuel lines (even fiddlier) . The way i do it is keep your left hand on the red or white plastic connection coming out of the tank, then with your right hand push or pull collar on the fuel line til its loose, some petrol will leak out. When they are off lift the tank from the back and look underneath in the middle there should be a overfill hose to disconnect then lift it off. Just be careful with the connections. When you are putting it back on make sure the fuel lines are fully home. Gary
  6. Just filled up the V11, bike had done 172 miles and the fuel light had just started glowing. Gets to the local petrol station and fill up with 16 litres of shell v power unleaded. £22.27!!!!! So has anyone paid anymore ?.
  7. I agree, definetly the rear brake. Happened to me a few weeks ago ipulled the rear pads and noise dissapeared.
  8. Good luck with the move, good choice of island. Hope you dont miss the scottish weather to much, you know the gales in your hair, the slush under your tyres, the soaking wet biking gear. Gary
  9. If memory serves me right i think it was moscowphil who posted a pic of his grease gun attachment. I made the same thing and it goes on the nipple a treat, but it didnt go fully home so you have to file the nozzle and then it was perfect. I takeoff the rear wheel then the rear trans from the shaft (make sure you have the paint marks both sides of the shaft before removal, if not mark it yourself) I Also take off the lower shock mount nut and bolt as it lowers the swing arm about 20mm, turn the shaft to expose the grease nipple and grease away Gary
  10. There is a C/F mudguard on ebay, from a manufacturer in san diego. It looks good and who would know it isnt original!!!. But i have seen originals on ebay quite regularly,Or have you tried reboot guzzi spares they are/werebreaking a cafe sport so they may still have the mudguard. Gary
  11. My cafe sport has roughly 27000 miles on it. Its on its second speedo and has used 4 or 5 speedo cables. Apart from that only minor issues. I replaced the transmission spring at the 23000 miles mark as i was getting paranoid that it would go soon inthe middle of nowhere, but no, it was in perfect shape and is now my new spare part. Gary

    Copa chopa

    Thats just so wrong!!!!!
  13. Got roadsmarts on my bike (second pair) get about 3500 rear, 4500 front. Good tyres.
  14. That will be the connections under the tank on the left side, I think it was the wires from the clutch/side stand are a bit loose. Just a wee crimp with pliers and thats another problem out of the way!!!.
  15. Have had ny one fitted for best part of 15000 miles, took it off recently while doing maintenance, still like brand new. Gary
  16. I saw one last year in fordingbridge during the v twin rally. It had a quat d exhaust on it (ScuRoo!!!!). Gary
  17. Reboot guzzi spares make a aftermarket brake and gear lever set, saw them at the v twin rally last year, far better quality than originals and if i remember correctly cheaper than the originals.Gary
  18. +1
  19. Thanks, grossohc. Are you saying that it is possible to remove the valve cover bolts closest to the fuel tank without removing (or moving) the Le Mans fairing panel? The fairing extends back over the top of the cylinder on the Le Mans, and it doesn't look like it would be very easy/possible to get at these bolts without moving that part of the fairing? Thanks, Shaun Hi Shaun I have done the valve adjustment on a le mans, if i remember correctly i just took off a bolt on the fairing so i could access the bolts easier by pushing that part of the fairing slightly out of the way. the allen key i used was fairly long and had that multi angle head on it. It was no harder to take the cover off than on my own bike (no fairing). gary
  20. You only have to remove the 8 bolts to take off the rocker covers, thats it, very easy on a guzzi.
  21. Ssshhh everyone will want one.
  22. Me too, but if its 14 grand forget it the scotsman in me wouldnt let me spend that much. I have been looking at the new triumph tiger 800, £7200 out the door. Ok its not a looker, but it would be a good tourer, and half the price
  23. That may explain my local dealers reluctance to order in bikes. I know he was at a dealer conference, so his head was probably filled with new models coming in, investment etc. He is probably waiting for them rather than the showroom dust gatherers.
  24. I loved the bikes they had at the eicma09 show?? To me anyway it was a statement that guzzi was going boldly into the 21st century, But where are they now no new models just tarted up existing ones. But they have to get a grip with there dealers as well, after the N.I. Bash last year i was full of enthusiasm for all things guzzi especially after seeng the1200sports from the dutch crew. When i get home i go down to my local dealer as i was convinced he had a new one on the shopfloor, But alas no, he tells me if i want one he will order it in for me but he hasnt bothered ordering any new bikes from guzzi (to busy selling suzukis, kawas,mv,aprilia and triumph). There still isnt any new bikes to date in his showroom, so if he doesnt care and piaggio doesnt realise he has no stock, why should i buy anew bike from him!!. Doesnt exactly instill confidence in owning the new models, ah well theres always the new tiger 800
