  1. 6.4kΩ will certainly keep the light out! The question is whether the resistance will drop enough to light the bulb when the sensor is uncovered by fuel and it warms up (?) I do see that Kiwi_Roy measured the cold resistance at around 1 kΩ :

  3. Aw… I took it down when you didn’t comment. Didn’t want to offend. Pretty sure I can put it back.
  4. Seems I tried to turn my GB into one of those . . . Just back from a Completion Ride after thirteen weeks and parts from three continents, several set-backs and learning experiences. Thank goodness for good friends and Polished Tools!
  5. Right! '89-'90. The (US) TransAlp as well. I've thought that line up would make an interesting collection of itself . . .
  6. Enough love that the hairy-knuckled Neanderthal creep that owns would check the oil and top it up. I had gotten where I only rode it two or three times a year (mostly out of guilt). Then I resolved to ride her once a month, but failed to consider thirty year old valve seals with 50,000 miles. What a disheartenment. So, fresh rockers, cam, rings, light valve lap and bore hone. And a frustrating education on how the automatic double compression release really works and why the motor won't start if one little, tiny part is left out . . .
  7. One can hope. she has given me some challenges lately having been rather neglected in favor of riding (and fussing endlessly with) mySport. The GB is my first bike, bought new in '92. And one of my finest Polished Things . . .
  8. I corrected the mileage on the rotor replacement (second speedometer), so 50,000 miles. I was suspicious of the EBC HH I had on there for a while. Also had used Galfer Green before returning to Brembo at the advice of a fellow Sport rider and trusted technician. "Made for each other" and all. I am also, admittedly, all jack-rabbit riding style. Probably more so in my first years riding the Sport.
  9. My original rotors came off at about 50,000 miles/ 80.700 km sadly worn from using too aggressive pads (went back to Brembo exclusively). I can push one the the "buttons" just under 0.018" yet cannot feel any lateral play trying to shift the rotor laterally back and forth on the carrier. I find no specification or service limit for this value in the Workshop Manual. What are you seeing @Flooky?
  10. Trying to put my "other bike" back in service reminds me how poignant : "Polished Wrenches for Polished Things" . . .
  11. I dig! I dig!
  12. The datasheet on this TE Connectivity 1-form-C HC (High Current) appears to check out. Not sure where they are made, or if we can even get them. Remember, there are high current loads on certain of our V11 relays that benefit from true high current relays with quality construction like silver contacts. https://www.mouser.com/datasheet/2/418/5/NG_DS_V23074-X0000-A001_0615-844367.pdf
  13. Well, seems "somebody" must have bought the last 1200 or so OMRON G8HE High Current 5-pin micro-relays. Perhaps the source will present itself. Prolly ain't gwanna be five bucks anymore . . . "Pssst! Hey! Hey, buddy . . . gotch'yer C-form H-E ree-layz, here. Comes with a free horse."
  14. Recent reports that Online Components no longer has the C-form (5-pin) G8HE. They apparently have the A-form (4-pin) which can be used in Positions 2-5 on our V11, but not Position #1/ Start Relay. That requires a Form C/ 5-pin. If anyone discovers a source for the discontinued OMRON G8HE-1C7T-R-DC12, please post!
  15. Evidently, if one is going to X(pect a) goose, one must assume The Position.

    Wheels

I really thought I could come up with link to one of our threads to answer this: nope. Had to go to the web, but found this image of the Purple Gang's hot-rod Moto Guzzi at Phillip Island. Not sure what it is, though. These do look like V11 wheels. And: yep, they're heavy!!
  17. I can see where that fairing would not be traffic friendly. Looks like it's reaching for 225 kph just sitting there!
  18. @4corsa . . . . +1 on The Wanton Bishops!
  19. The way this performance picks up tempo and slows, then goes wild with the beat, then mellows reminds me of a good romp on my Sport . . .
  20. BTW, @red lion, what was the brand of filter that lost its gasket? And how many miles between filter changes?
  21. Kudos to author Robert Smith for getting the origins of the Moto Guzzi big twin right in this December, 2020, article on an interesting Eldorado for Motorcycle Classics magazine: https://www.motorcycleclassics.com/classic-italian-motorcycles/zm0z21jfzols/ "(That the V7 engine was developed from Guzzi’s “mechanical mule” military project is now refuted by most authoritative sources, including marque specialist Greg Field in his book Moto Guzzi Big Twins.)"

    2000 Sport

Probably not exponential. Certainly not crazy (except for those Coppa Italia sold at high-end auctions), yet "incremental" appreciation, definitely up from their bottom of a few years back. I would like to think proper service records, analog as they might be, make a difference. Yet, that might just be me liking to think.

Yah, eight to ten million lire seems about right . . .
