  1. It is hard to fathom that your ECU needs replaced. Worst case there would be to rewrite the map to it? Sorry, but is there still a PowerCommander in the mix?
  2. Thanks, Marty! I still may fit new plug wires on my next Tank Off Maintenance, but the isopropyl alcohol did clean up the splotches, then I polished the original red wires with AutoGlym polish. Worked a charm! Polished plug wires!
  3. My red plug wires are looking pretty ratty. Made worse when I sprayed the bike with SuperClean. Mistake. Well, all the engine finning looks great, but all the hard plastic and the plug wires got white splotches. So, does anyone have some wires where they can be measured? Is one meter long enough? I was considering this NGK product hoping the shade of red is compatible: https://www.ebay.com/p/7mm-Red-Silicone-Spark-Plug-Wire-NGK-Racing-Cable-1-Meter-for-ATV-Motorcycle/1362962591?iid=252329743437&chn=ps
  4. I say "[battery]" because I could not keep stacking terminals on the battery itself, and built connector blocks for both the positive and negative battery terminals. Instead of fusing the headlight positive, I'm using an auto-reset 10 amp ATC circuit breaker.
  5. Negative. My two headlight relays (lo and hi) are still in the bucket. The two (Bosch) relays you see in the image are my right and left horn relays. The horns (FIAMM Freeway Blasters) also get hot (fused positive) from the [battery] and ground back to those frame points.
  6. I put my (2) relays in the headlight bucket. More challenging, perhaps, to pull a hot from the battery all the way to the bucket (tank-off project, routing , and making good contact to positive). I pulled grounds back across the steering head to the frame mounts for the (early V11) frame mounted fuel pump. Pretty sure those mount points remain on the later frames. Relays in the bucket showing where one of my connections eventually jiggled loose: Grounds x 2 (Headlight relays, lo and hi, plus ground strap frame-to-timing chest where my regulator is grounded. 7. I wired my headlight circuit seperately via a pair of mini relays so now the regulator reference voltage stays constant and the handlebar switches dont carry the headlight current. Ciao +1
  8. When you come around, buddy, we've got the market cornered on camarda-rie. Beer-debt Plan: Find dream '04 V11 in the eastern US, Fly-Ride, take in a South'nSpineRaid. Win-Win-Win-Win!
  9. That just means dealer support will now be on par with Moto Guzzi... Dark. That is dark. FWIW, I have a tracking number on my last-ever parts order from My-Local-Moto-Guzzi-Dealer-In-Seattle-Washington. (A couple thousand miles away).
  10. Seems Motus closed up shop September1 this year. https://www.revzilla.com/common-tread/motus-motorcycles-ceases-operations-effective-immediately
  11. Hmmm, Mark, I don't think our brittle shift levers will bend, even heated. They tend to just snap off. Has anyone tried reshaping them?
  12. I hope you mean 200k kilometers . . . that "could be" in striking distance! Currently, (>hehcurrent-ly" . . . ), my R/R #3 is holding its own (give or take some battery light flicker at idle when the battery is full up) at over 8 years and 37,000 miles. I have a $150 EnDuraLast EDL-450 direct replacement spare on hand when the time comes. I'm also on battery #4 in eighteen years and 109,000 miles/ 175.000 km. This kind of service seems totally acceptable to me. Better than some Hondas I've owned.
  13. Original regulator on your V11, swooshdave? How many miles?
  14. Now you have me past my pay grade... I defer to others who may be able to improve on our set-up. Not sure what czakky "went back to", but "I think" the EDL450 is most like the OEM unit (?)
  15. Which electrosport model is it? I sourced this EnduraLast EDL450 from EuroMotoElectrics (Colorado, USA) for my fourth regulator. I am thinking this is the "OEM-style" replacement? (Not yet installed as it appears my third is yet in service even after 30-35,000 miles.)
  16. As much as I love (love-love ) red frames, a V85TT in "spruce/Tenni/Carcano" green would be my preference . . .
  17. That translation makes me wonder if I am among "the audience of orphan enthusiasts della Griso" . . . . The V85TT is interesting, but not beautiful, to me . . .
  18. Oh, man . . . Joe, I thought maybe you forgot about the beer I owe you . . . Cheers, buddy! Thanks for the Italy report! (I'm jealous )

    Overcharging

Why worry? There are several layers of plastic between the AGM and our GoodBits.

    Overcharging

Really just the battery, buddy. The pic I posted of the melted wiring was just tongue-in-cheek. (That's what happens when the main battery ground to the gearbox fails.) You could certainly be damaging some bulb filaments, relays, and fuses. But mostly it's about the battery. Seems your Regulator/Rectifier has failed. Mine seem to go about every 30-35,000 miles.

    The worstest?
  22. You guys have a magnificent weather weekend ahead! Guzzis loooooove cool, dry air!
  23. Go somewhere fun. I talked with MI today to confirm a parts order. I wished the fellow the best of fortunes. He said they are all hoping to regroup under another business perhaps by next summer. Best of luck to them all!
  24. A'hm purty sure them Red'spendered Kentuckians ain't got nuthin' on the creative tech solutions of South'n Spine Raiders . . .
  25. M, Seems valve clatter on a Guzzi would be fine as long as you're using a quality SG 20W-50 oil. (There are those who go even looser on the valves.)
