  1. How cool! So, Pressureangle (and others), if you arrive Saturday and everyone is out, consider riding east up onto the Cherohala Skyway; a delightful road with many spectacular overlooks to pull off and listen for returning Guzzi! Pretty sure this will get you some company!
  2. Does this torque make my horsepower look big?
  3. Or, worse, just clever "Photoshop?"
  4. Dang, bud, now you have Tropical Storm Gordon to navigate?
  5. Less weight? ("Add lightness . . ." . . . Colin Chapman)
  6. I'm glad your run-up to the SSR is quiet! We're all tail-feathers and elbows, here!
  7. Is that a V85 LeMans? Is that for real? [edit: I can't copy and paste that picture or find it on the web.]
  8. Is the time well nigh for the long-coming Guzzi diesel triple?
  9. See? See there? I knew the *voice of reason* would soon prevail . . .
  10. Now that the "heron heads" of the old small block have gone away (haven't they? ), how do we tell the true difference between a "Big Block" and a "Small Block?" Don;t mind my confusion about the small displacement of the early BigBlock (770-750cc) and the large displacement of the latest SmallBlock (750-900cc). Now, this new V85 . . . "MidBlock?"
  11. The vent is centrally located at the back top of the gearbox. (Left of the main ground circled in this image.)
  12. So, better bring your own corn in a jar. Bill
  13. I found this post that has a couple links in it (actually embedded in the Tank off Maintenance Checklist): https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19775&p=216835 I have also recombined various of the Nylon gears from leftover bevel drives to keep the system alive over the miles. I just never saw one leak like that. I do suspect a combination of overfilling and high ambient temps forcing the RL Heavy where it doesn't need to be. Perhaps combined with a crack in the plastic body?
  14. I don;t remember gearoil being forced up there, but if overfilled, overheated, and over-stirred, it might-could. Perhaps just lower the level and see if it persists? Can you see a crack in the housing when it's all cleaned up? I see one O-ring in the parts list under the flange that screws into the gearbox itself. Yours appears to be leaking from higher up on the housing.
  15. I rebuilt about six of those over the miles; never saw one do that. RedLine Heavy is really hard to read in the sight glass. Perhaps the gearbox is over filled (common with RedLine Heavy) /
  16. Lane splitting with a cart full of coconuts! And every other imaginable object, most moving! So great! Thanks, malengi.
  17. Six days out and I thought I was having my tire "changed." As it turned out, the tire was Divined instead . . .
  18. "Rear-sets" have always been challenging improvements to motorcycles. Our V11 shift mechanism is notable. "Polished wrenches for polished things" . . . .
  19. My friend Bill and I will be rolling in Thursday eve (with beer) by truck (and beer) and trailer (with beer). We'll bring assorted (beer) stuff, (beer) tools, (beer) firewood, beer, maybe a valve cover gasket (and beer) ... any requests? (besides the beer?) Looks like you've got this (beer) covered! Don't forget the tools! :luigi: (and box fans!)
  20. The mid-Tennessee SpineRaiders will roll in Friday afternoon after our usual romp across the Cumberland Plateau and Walden Ridge. I have a new bypass around Decatur and Athens to try out. I detest riding through little towns. My alternate routes are (usually) (mostly) paved and (almost) never have a creek crossing or mining road in the mix.
  21. Bringing your dial indicator south? South'n SpineRaid TechSession!!

    Sophia is sick

"[sophia], I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship."
  23. I've seen the copper anti-seize turn super -hard in hot applications. I suppose it's okay for something not coming back apart regularly (exhaust), but I stopped using it on spark plugs.
