  1. Welldone, Sir! Really excellent example of a "How to . . ." post!
  2. Neither of the fasteners show any sign of impact or rubbing. This is the yoke I had to move between rear drives twice in the past: just over 2,000 miles ago, and again about 1,000 miles ago. Also, the one I crossed a bolt into, could not obtain suitable replacements, so re-cut the threads, torqued up with LocTite Blue. Nonetheless, the work of "my last technician" (me) has to be called into question. Perhaps, it would be good method to retorque drive shaft pinch bolts after a couple hundred miles?
  3. V11 keeping company with Vincents (and their wizards). That is fine company, indeed!
  4. Not my idea. I do know Andy York has his cut. Perhaps I can get a look at his. I was happy to see the rear had grease in it. Not the best looking grease, but wet. As we all know, the front, on the early Sports, is fabulously hard to get to. After these 108,000 miles, I resolved that I would simply remove the swingarm every 12,000 miles/ 20.000 km. I am not entirely convinced this was a U-joint failure. Perhaps the yoke, itself, may have "come from together?"
  5. With a used shaft coming for the Sport's lately expired unit, it seems prudent to give it fresh U-joints. The Della Concordia factory in Italy is, of course, closed until late August. I believe I found a good email address for Technomec in Montreal. I'm hoping to hear from them in the morning and learn what it takes to get goods from our provincial neighbors these days . . . > Come alone. Bring cash. No cops.
  6. Anyone with a picture of the front access cut? And would that defeat the safety collar? (This event would have gone quite differently without the collar . . . )
  7. Yessir. On the cusp of 108,000 miles. I still actually can't figure out where to make that cut (?)
  8. And people stopping to check on me, then some buds ride by and all offer to stay with me! Tow driver was a rider and so caring about the tie-down. Still, those three little straps? I was nervous about her bouncing around on that deck . . .
  9. Thanks, man. Odd, today, I was riding so laid-back (not my usual hair-on-fire, bottle rocket style). And when the knocking started I pulled over at the first chance (not my usual Press-On-Regardless). They do charge extra to drive the roll-back from Nashville out into the boonies on a Sunday morning, then take you most of the way to Alabama . . .
  10. Nice, Niels! And look at that beautiful, old folding carpenter's rule!
  11. A better look at the bits:
  12. Guzzi guys. We know how to have a smokin' time!
  13. Today's ride went differently in my mind . . . https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20515&p=234480
  14. Heh . . . no use planning TechSessions for Spine Raids. They are sure to present themselves . . . First clue? That would be the little grease speckles on the wheel that I ignored thinking that was still something to do with my eight years of leaking rear drives. Today, out in the hills about forty miles from home came the tell-tale clunka-clunka of a driveshaft failure. Rolled up under a bridge (shade!) and the bike would not roll. How it did not lock-up is a wonder. With AMA Roadside Assistance on a Sunday morning on its way, good buddy, Josh, happens to roll up and hung out with me. Broke out the tools and removed the rear guard and back half of the shaft so we could roll it onto the truck. Looks like footgoose has a take-off shaft I can get before the week's out! Thanks, footgoose!! Feeling really lucky, all around!
  15. Waiting on the tow truck. Gonna need a driveshaft if any body has one . . .
  16. Seems they electrified the modern version of that color. I'd love to see the original green V7 Sport sitting next to the Greenie V11.
  17. Many thanks to Austin Colle: Historic Advertising Design from the 80's, 90's and 00's And also to Carl Allison and Gregory Bender! http://www.thisoldtractor.com/guzzi007/sportissimo.html
  18. As your devoted and true-the-spine Moderator, consider this last request done.
  19. Okay, that last track was just fun, but check out this Norah Jones performance . . . (especially the third cut at about 9:00, "Light as a Feather") . . .
  20. "Polished wrenches for Polished Things!:
  21. As in, " . . . while holding a copper hammer in one hand and a 15mm spanner in the other." . . . . (?)
  22. But, I am such a DieHard Odyssey devotee. And they last close to ten years. (Just fun saying DieHard® and Odyssey® in the same sentence . . . )
  23. Say three Hail Marabeses and call me in the morning.
  24. Gosh, I guess I should clarify that my Sport hasn't had all of those leaks. That was sort of a compendium. Admittedly, my Sport may be over-represented in the leak threads . . .
