  1. The mounting racks can be "groomed" by altering the placement of the attachment points and length of the top-front spacer. I so want to build new racks to bring my Tekno further forward and down lower. (No passengers for me.)
  2. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder..... South'n Spine Raid poster child!
  3. On the left side at the front of the frame where the upright tube is for the steering head bearings. The build date will be inscribed (month - year).
  4. That recall was super-early (Oct. 1999- Nov. 1999). I doubt any Rosso Mandello were made before late 2000. (?) what is the build date inscribed into your headstock plate?
  5. Well, the wheelbase is longer 2002-2005, 1471mm -> 1490mm (3/4 of an inch is a lot!) . The presumption has always been that the frame was lengthened. The spine frame itself is certainly "different" in other ways. In addition, the front subframe is cross-braced on the GenII-V11, and the lower rear subframe (not the seat subframe) is also cross-braced in addition to the two forward braces that traverse the gearbox. The parts diagrams show totally different frame structures. I believe we have already established that the fork rake (25º) and swingarm is the same across the range ( with the exception of very early Sports that reportedly had 1/2º steeper triple clamps). [i've yet to see a confirmed "early triple" on the First-Gen Sport. Maybe LowRyter's guy can retrieve that part number off the bottom of his lower triple?]
  6. My dealer told me they cracked from landing wheel stands. I told him I never wheelied it, but his mechanic did. We didn't talk about it after that. I seem to recall running across the frame brace in the diagrams and theorized it would be a good idea. After struggling to install it, I thought Guzzi dropped it on the injected bikes because of the installation difficulties. When the "long frame" showed up with the braced subframes in 2002, I thought it was all about the complaints of high speed weave and abrupt handling, but the case crack has been reported in significant numbers, always on the left, and I don't remember one on the LongFrames. Seems to me the timing chest leaks are more common on the engines with thick black paint?
  7. TOGA! TOGA! TOGA!
  8. "Born in Leavenworth" . . . That says something about a guy . . .
  9. Yeah, I was afraid of that. So, I ain't got the poop to get those data points. I remember seeing a PF4C graph (I thought Meinolf had posted it?), and it appeared to "rise" quicker than the PF3.
  10. So a GU37202805 is not the same as the 01202830 (that I can attest will fit the V11)?
  11. As I said here, back in 2003, ya'll are The World's Foremost Experts on the V11 6Speeder! I love this photo - so much going on. The Knolling of the tools, the V11 Workshop Manual in the background, a full-on ball-peen hammer, adequate toweling (don't tell mama!), LED flashlight, and Nitrile gloves are all so reassuring . . . . . . . . then the troubling *Leavenworth* coffee mug shows itself.
  12. interesting. I've never seen one fitted to a V11. Mine was built March 2000 without one. I think LowRyter's V11 Sport is earlier than mine (?) My post from back in 2004 says it's the part number for a Sport 1100.
  13. Meinolf, I have the "Harley-Davidson" TPS fitted to my Sport (Magnetti-Marelli PF4C/00), installed Nov 2008 and can attempt to get these data points. Only 4 points? Seems we could generate a smoother curve than that? I am expecting to use guzzidiag for the angles of opening and the TPS breakout harness to measure millivoltage with my Triplett meter?
  14. Depending on stock, etc.. that price is *easily* beatable. Dont know that this part would fit the V11. The original V11 p/n is 01202830. Ciao That diagram is for a 1995 Sport (1100) and is the correct part: GU37202805 Gearbox connecting plate Let me check my records on the part number I posted to be sure it is not a dealer stocking number or a mistake. edit: The dealer invoice from 5 Feb 2004, only says "bracket" and "item number" 01202830. ($18.75US back then!) So, I am not convinced that is the actual Moto Guzzi part number.
  15. The way it is done (in your photos) takes the least number of things apart, so probably the best way to do it when dollars are by the hour, or time is of the essence. It doesn't look like the motor was lowered, even. So, it seems it would be tight getting everything in and out. Not sure why the battery is lifted out? Maybe the guy has never done this on a V11 before, so his mind is not clouded by *conventional wisdom* and really has found a great way to get the gearbox out&in with minimal wrenching? Some guys have a knack for that. That there are no hammers in view is either cause for suspicion or a sign of brilliance . . .
  16. The OEM aluminum alloy piastra colleg on my Sport measures 5 mm (0.197") thickness. 3/16" is ~0.188", or 0.010" thinner, while 1/4" would be 0.053" thicker. Either would work, but I would personally go with the closest fit since the whole affair is such a tight fit to begin with. (For the express purposes of mixing inch-measure, metric, fractions, and decimals: ten thousandths of an inch is 1/4 mm, while fifty thousandths is a millimeter and a third )
  17. I've never seen a V11 gearbox pulled like that. "Semi-crabbed?"
  18. I can look at mine when I get home and try to assess the space. AFAIK, mine is the only V11 with the 'piastra colleg ' fitted?
  19. Thanks guys, that answers one of my two questions, but what about the other one? I am also reading something about a recall on V11 rods and bolts? I did notice the 2003-onwards have different P/N bolts and rods. Jaap linked the recall notice here (does it cover your engine?): http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14680
  20. Right? Like, I don't see a hammer anywhere . . .
  21. Is there a substantial premium for having been parked in the vicinity of Vincents?
  22. Excellent, as Docc can attest I am Brewmeister and Chief Flatulator at my PICO brewery Rancho Loco... Sorry Pete, all ABV's are significantly above Queen's Lands Limits!! If you see Chippy any time soon, tell him I flatulate for him in Middle TN! I can attest to the (superb!) Brewmeister part, but try to dodge the flatulation, especially when it gets exuberant . . .
  23. Yeah, guzzidude, you're in good company! Here's the link to the "Decent Tune-Up": http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19610 This is likely to set you on the right track with out changing any programming. Post your results in a new thread in "Technical Topics" if you like and you can get a lot of good feedback and guidance there.
  24. There are literally more Vincents in this area that Coppas. Here's my friend's, we took a spin around the countryside today. Not easy to keep up with a well ridden twin! I'll post a video later. So . . . a *proper* V11 Guzzi post has a hammer in it, but a Vincent post has a *hatchet?*
  25. haha - funny, I see three dudes holding beers, locked onto two of the most interesting motorcycles ever made . . .
