  1. Nerts! I missed the voting by a day. Good luck with the tour. At 15 months old, I was carried across the Atlantic to La Havre, France, on the SS America in the United States Line with my family as my father was being stationed in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, for his army career's "cocktail assignment." Of course, I have no recollection of the nine day voyage, but pictures reveal my mother to appear pretty miserable - not a "cocktail assignment" for her I guess! Thanks for sharing this, Dan! Keep us posted!
  2. Certainly sounds like tank swell. A case for non-ethanol fuel. And a reminder to only remove the tank when it is (near) empty, support it on a buck from underneath instead of resting it on its "panniers." I would be concerned about positioning the tank further forward, especially on an early "short frame" V11as they are prone to contacting the forks as is.
  3. The terminology I recall is the "sliding dogs" and "cush drive."
  4. That says, "These fit all big block Guzzis from the 1967 V700 to the late model Californias." Remember the twin plate V11 already has a lightened flywheel. Not sure if the V11 clutch, itself, is "lightened." Slowkitty, is your 2002 V11 a Tenni or a Scura with the single plate clutch and aluminum flywheel?
  5. Roger that. Will relay.
  6. JRD is in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. I'll pm him to pm you.
  7. colina, There are some members here who are familiar with the SP, and charging systems in general. I think we'll move your thread to Older Models and see if we can get some of those good fellows to reply.
  8. Agreed. The collar should not play on the shaft.
  9. For sure, post back how it changes the handling and how the new tire holds up. I would suspect the profile will be flattened out a bit to the detriment of center wear and maybe a little more abrupt turn in/ somewhat reduced contact patch during cornering. Of course, that's all just thinking about it (keyboard quarterback )
  10. Delightful! Although, I sometimes feel that I dwell too oft at the Stable Call . . . Just as I see JRD casting about for some H-B bag mounts so that he can descend upon the Spine Raid in style! Il vostro buon comandante squadrone
  11. That looks really nice with your tank!
  12. What are you taking off?
  13. I know when Fergal posts his Irish gathering it's time to get serious about the Spine Raid. . . . . or "Baffi e Chiacchieroni" if that strikes you as more astute.
  14. The tire charts I've looked at for the 4.5 inch rim seem to allow for a size over (170) and a size under (150) with the 160 landing in the middle of the range.
  15. You forgot to say "stone cold!"
  16. Standard fitment for the early V11 Sport was a 170. Many of us have gone to 160, but I've not heard of going down to a 150 - that seems mighty narrow for the 4.5" rim. I've used up quite a few Angel ST with no complaints and am currently working through my second or third GT which seems to give a better "end of life" margin as they play up. When the ST looks like it's getting thin, they're done!

    Old V11 Article

Probably fine just to post it in this thread. Yet, I'm not the best at knowing how to post a .pdf since it can't be done with a hammer . . .
  18. Hey, the Italian translation in the manuals refers to it as the "electric cock." I kind of think the Italians know they are doing this sort of thing, linguistically, and just think it's a big laugh. We can always be boasting around the "other kinds of motorcycles" that ours has one of these *special* devices!
  19. Working on a 2000 V11 Sport is like fixing hammer - you can do this! First - off with the tank? See the Tank off Maintenance Checklist in FAQ Let's be sure all the hose routing is solid and the petcock itself is squared away. Do you have the original electric petcock or has it been swapped for a manual one?
  20. She'll do! You meant "prescient" like Scud said though . . . right? . . . .
  21. Search Tutorial in "Motha of all V11 Forums" Hope that helps!
  22. You have come to the right place! While we pass the Kool-Aid around daily, this community is really honest about the things that V11 need and the various ways to approach them. I remember a period article saying (the V11) was a (fine bike), but would require some "owner attention." Indeed so, but once fettled these are great machines. What color is the '02 you're looking at?

  24. A shock/spring change is going to make such a HUGE difference for you! (Re-set your "sags!") Is Öhlins, once again, available for the V11?
