Nirvana! The band that made grunge known to the many. Nevermind is a golden one! In Utero, for me was THE epitomy of what was called Grunge. Imagine the music we would still hear if Kurt was alive! What a pitty...
Also another excellent band and one of my favourites were Screaming Trees. Mark Lanegan with his "dark" "bluesy" voice and the Conner brothers with their post-modern-reconstruction of garage-grunge-psychedelic guitar and bass playing (with plenty of Wah-Wah dirty pedals), together with an amazing drum player (Barrett Martin and Mark Pickerel in early years) wrote music that when you hear it you just want to lay down on the beach, under the hot sun, drinking cold beer, smoking a tasty cigarette (dried)...
