Why the smaller tire ?

The red frame ( 2001 ) tire size is 160/60-ZR17 and the black frame ( 2003ish) tire size is 180/55-ZR17 .

What is the tire size on your wheel ? My red frame has the 4.5'' and the black frame has the 5.5" wheel . I will go outside and get the tire sizes and post

You want a cognizant welder . One that is fully aware of what is going to be done . This is a process that is going to be done ONCE . disconnecting one post of the battery will keep all the welding trouble out of the electrical system . Always disconnect the negative post . I have never made sparks with a wrench on the negative post touching the frame !

The cylinder head comes off very easy . Don't be afraid to take it off and do it right . If things get too f'd up .Time-Sert is the ultimate repair .

Does the Norge have a helmet lock and or keyed seat release ? If so , you could remove one of them . Go to a locksmith and he could disassemble it and make a key to fit . -

HMMMMM. look at it and think , if the u-joint cap failure allowed the cross to twist the yoke and cause it to break ?
