    Brand-new Scura

Oh yeah. You can see where it's been apart if you look.
  2. All Redline oils *except* their 10-60 syn are rated SG. Motul dino 20-50 is rated SG, their 10-60 syn is rated SG and several others including SN. As far as I know, Amsoil is still rated SG. Mobil 1 used to be, but changed formulation. Possibly their V twin still is? Valvolene 20-50 dino is rated SG. If it says SG on the bottle, I'm good with it.

    Brand-new Scura

Come on knowing that Moto Guzzi would replace the cases with new ones back in the day under warranty must have given some indication that it would have been a bit of a pain lol. But hey you are having fun. I do not recall that that is what Moto Guzzi offered for that defect. I recall that they would have the dealer "refinish" the cases, or the owner could elect for some compensatory accessories (a jacket or otherwise?). I know one owner who went through the painful disassembly/ refinish process and heard of others who opted for the "accessory" option. Anyone with first-hand experience? What happened was the dealer would put new cases on it. The original owner of the Mighty Scura opted for that.
  4. As Scud says, it's probably linkage related, possibly the lever hitting the pork chop.
  5. Plus the "additional" 300 un-numbered Rosso Mandello = 1470? 300 un-numbered Rosso's? do tell........ or a link to that story please... I don't have a link, but it was true. After the "limited edition" sold so well, they made another run. Guzzi, you gotta love em..
  6. Ed the Rocket Scientist (really) told me the same story. There is no reason for him to fabricate it..
  7. AFAIK, this was never an issue with the Sport/LeMans V11 motor . . . This. I respectfully disagree. No less than Dave Richardson told Greg Field to "run SG rated oil in your Guzzi." He passed that on. That's good enough for me.
  8. Well, first.. it's a Guzzi. It won't burn oil. If you're on a trip, run what's in it until you return if you are using a quality synthetic. Mobil 1 Vtwin is available anywhere if you really need it.
  9. Until fairly recently, we had a 67 fastback big block 4 speed Mustang. It was Dorcia's first car. She's always been a gearhead. Long story, but when we got married, it didn't have an engine in it. I put a turbocharged 351 Cleveland in it. It was a BMF.
  10. Heat is a coil's enemy. The insulation begins to break down. It's a common failure on aircraft coils. Starts up and runs fine until it's shut off and heat soaks a while, then won't fire or misfires. I don't think that is the OPs problem, though. I'd clean up fuse/relay/connectors then a good tuneup.

    Zinc chromate

3D printing is amazing. We're at about the same stage as when the first Commodore 64 and Ataris came out. It'll be interesting to see where it leads.
  12. So, I guess that means you don't care for the new stuff, Pete? Shame, really.. a brand with all it's sporting history reduced to building bar hoppers. The Mighty Scura will continue to be my new bike.

    Zinc chromate

Uhh, we *might* be overthinking this..
  14. Shamelessly stolen from WG.. http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=87377.0
  15. The WG guys have started a fund for what will no doubt be considerable expenses for Wayne. I used ill gotten gains from the shifter extenders.. http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=87359.0
  16. You can't trade Guzzi parts for crack, so Guzzis are almost worthless to a dirtbag. I know of one that was stolen in Europe, but it was found shortly. I know of two chromed out Eldos that were ripped off in SoCal. The perps probably thought they were Harleys. I've never heard of a V11S being ripped off.
  17. Big valve Guzzis are pretty hard on the guides.
  18. ^^^^ yep. Hard to imagine a magnet losing it's ju ju, but the book sez to store them together.
  19. I thought it was interesting.. should have taken a picture. When I pulled the pre selector off the Mighty Scura after draining the transmission, the gears were still totally covered with the RL light. I've seen a picture somewhere where it looked like the gear oil had drained completely off them. I can see where if you drain, measure, and refill the rear drive for instance.. it could become overfilled.
  20. You too, blue lightweight? I would call it green, but it sez light on the bottle.
  21. ^^^^^ Buncha rookies.. I unloaded mine by myself. Backed the trailer where I wanted it, slid the lift back, let gravity put one end down. Wrapped a sling around the top, hooked the cherry picker up to it and drove the trailer away. Let it the rest of the way down to the floor, cut the box away, and rolled it off. Easy peasey.
  22. Uhhh, I back the bike up and clamp the rear wheel in the vise.
