  1. I'll bet those intake rubbers are cracked all the way through causing a lean condition at low speed and the accompanying lean spit.
  2. I learned much to my chagrin that Shockproof heavy.. the pink stuff.. is so tenacious that it won't all drain out. Adding a measured amount will then over fill it and it will leak. A lot. I quit using it and went back to Mobil 1.
  3. Most excellent adventure, Scud! Thanks for the pix..
  4. Very kool..
  5. I don't get it. What knob are we talking about? Knob creek is pretty good..
  6. I have nothing for you. If the pre selector is working properly.. I dunno.
  7. Knock knock.. is this thing on? Blowing into mike.. What do you want for the regulator? :)

  8. It'll be duck soup, then. Just make a cavity with a light push fit on the diameter of the bezel. Depth will be the same as the bezel. Yes, one of the speedometer repair shops *has* bezels, but at an exorbitant price.. he obviously wants to get paid to work on yours. <shrug>
  9. If you are sure you need to disassemble it, the bezel can be removed. I machined a pocket for the bezel to fit into, but others have used a big hose clamp. The trick is to keep the bezel from deforming as you carefully go around the crimp with a tool such as a tack puller, or a specially ground screwdriver. Just keep picking up the edge slowly as you go around it. Putting it back on is just the opposite. I used a peen punch with a polished radius to slowly tap it back in and down.
  10. the Kid needs a regulator, what do you want for it?
  11. I don't know anyone that has one that doesn't like it. Just the same, be aware that Guzzi is dropping them. It will shortly be an orphan with really complicated electronics..
  12. amazing route 12 is right. Did that a couple of years ago. It had my vote as most scenic road in America.. although, I just came back from doing Big Sur on the MZed. It's awesome, too. Tough call.
  13. I think this whole hose clamp debacle started with a run of bad gaskets by UFI. Greg Field first reported it when he was working at MI. They had several come loose, no doubt (in my mind) from a batch of bad filters. Then, the whole hose clamp thing gained traction. I, personally had a bad gasket with a UFI, but the problem with it was Superman couldn't have removed the filter without destroying it. Idid that, and have never let a UFI cross my door since. Not too long ago, someone posted here about a UFI with the paint coming off. Add poor paint prep to the list. Just say no.
  14. So, you're tired of messing with them, Pete?
  15. That sounds to me like if you have a small boat, you have a very fine anchor.. but I've been wrong before, and hope I am again.
  16. It's easy to cross thread, because you think it should start parallel to the bottom of the case. No. It starts parallel to the floor. You eyes can deceive you. Don't ask me how I know..
  17. False neutrals? Have you taken the pre selector off and done the Lucky Phil tuneup?
  18. You can be sure. It is easily visable from the outside. It is above the sump, about 2mm thick, and unless the sump has been painted..not likely.. a different color.
  19. Dorcia loved your rant, Pete. I told her to paste some of it in her facebook feed. One of the wimmen she used to work with was bitching about having "one of those muslims" in congress. She never says anything on facebook, but this time she did. It's about time.
  20. I missed my calling. I should have been a proof reader..
  21. " Odyssey is adamant that the battery will not charge with under 6 volts. I thought you meant to say under 6 amps. Maybe I misunderstood?
  22. Just standing back and holding my thumb up and looking at it, I'd think it should be .2 total, although the picture is ambiguous.
  23. " 6 volts. " 6 Amps..
  24. Pretty soon you'll have to hire me to keep your bikes exercised..
