  1. I've ridden other V11 Sports. The Mighty Scura's extra 10-15? hp makes her more better..
  2. Skwaaak.. it was nothin.
  3. Man, I love the Crest..
  4. And electricians..
  5. Dang! You mean I can't try before I buy?
  6. Good idea..
  7. Austin, the guy working in my shop, has the Guzzi hots. Imagine that.. He sent me a Craigs list ad for a 01 V11s that says: The bike has two known issues, both of which appear to be minor, but we haven't had time to dig into yet: - It runs roughly at low RPM/idle intermittently - The shift linkage appears to need adjustment I'm wondering what would cause intermittent rough running? Do you suppose it's as simple as a flaky relay? Sounds like both issues are easy to fix, and the price is right..
  8. I have a pair of giant Channel Locks that would have been perfect, but they were 7 hours away. Nobleswood said, "Of course, I'm a woodworker, but I'd get three pieces of wood, make a big C clamp, and twist a rope to tighten them together." Hmmm, good idea.. maybe a little orthodontia will work.. so got a ratchet strap out of the van. 2018-09-10_08-33-12 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr Made a Rube Goldberg arrangement, and with Tim's help pulled that sucker together. "Uh huh, Uh huh, We bad.." 2018-09-10_08-33-37 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr Started right up, of course.. so we got to ride after all. Went down a back road to Bald river falls 2018-09-10_08-32-43 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr 2018-09-10_08-36-05 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr and several miles later to a fish hatchery. 2018-09-10_08-32-21 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr Dorcia was giving me the "why are we stopping here" look, but once she saw the fish she was amazed. Naturally, you can't see them very well.. I need a polarizing filter for my fone.. but there were the biggest rainbow, brook and brown trout I've ever seen.. along with the albino trout you can easily see in this picture. 2018-09-10_08-32-03 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr It's hard to tell the scale, but some of the rainbows had to be 24" or more. We continued riding for the day including the "adventure" tour to arrive to this: 2018-09-10_08-31-25 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr Just how many tools and people does it take to remove the rear wheel on a Stornello? But that's a tale for another time. It was a wonderful trip for us. Thanks for making it all happen, Docc.
  9. The first day we were out on the Mighty Scura, it suddenly started running poorly, so we turned around and putt putted back to the lodge. Well, not really because it wouldn't run at low rpm, so we cannonballed back to the lodge. Fortunately, we brought tools including Dorcia's computer and cables. Hooked it up, saw the idle voltage was lower than normal, then her computer quit. Just *assumed* the TPS had lost it's ju ju, and we were done riding. Fortunately, Pat was there and said, "oh.. no problem, I have 2 spares with me. Naturally, once the seat came off, a crowd formed. 2018-09-10_08-34-08 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr It takes a village to repair a Guzzi.. Hooked her computer back up, and everything looked normal. No faults. Everything was working. Scratched head a bit. Josh said, "What's it doing?" so started it up and his Younger Ears said, "I hear a vacuum leak." Wet my finger, touched the header pipes and it was obvious which cylinder it was. I'm kinda embarrassed to relate this.. that should have been my first thought when the plugs looked fine. Naturally, the left throttle body had been blown backward from a back fire.. not an unheard of thing. Now.. how to get it back together. Superman wouldn't be strong enough to just push the boot and body together. More after lunch.
  10. I mentioned that it was our 40th anniversary trip, and Dorcia was just bubbling when we were going home. She said she couldn't imagine a nicer anniversary trip.. the scenery was gorgeous, the room was great, the raiders gracious. She said she even loved our off road trip looking for the hidden waterfall. "I've seen them do it on TV, but I didn't know you could take a street bike over and around rocks, washouts, etc. I didn't tell her there were a couple of puckery moments.. So, if you haven't been before.. this was the view off our balcony. 2018-09-10_08-34-28 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr One of the little ponds.. 2018-09-10_08-34-53 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr More in a minute.
  11. Yay.. I was going to mention that the OEM's shipping department screwed up and sent Rob an extra..
  12. I should have taken a video, but there was beautiful music from these three warming up below my balcony this morning. 2018-09-09_08-04-02 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr More tomorrow, I'm going to hit the showers.. but it was a *great* time for Dorcia and me.
  13. Less weight? ("Add lightness . . ." . . . Colin Chapman) Add simplicity and lightness.. Steve Wittman
  14. I've ridden some Hawgs, and they ain't fun.
  15. Is that a V85 LeMans? Is that for real? [edit: I can't copy and paste that picture or find it on the web.] If it is, it would be the first time in years that I was interested in what is in the works..
  16. I've never heard anyone say, "That would be a nice motorcycle if it only had a little less power.."
  17. Just got back from the Ohio rally with the AeroLario and another oldest rider award. Better get the Mighty Scura out today and make sure she's ready to go. Dorcia and I will be down Thursday afternoon with any luck at all. See youall there..
  18. You're a sick individual, Docc..
  19. I don't know Chuck, I don't know who "Rocket" is...Could be, I reckon. Out of respect for his privacy I'll leave it up to him to chime in if he wishes. I CAN tell you the bike has been owned by engineers exclusively though. - Joe You don't have to be an engineer to appreciate Guzzis. But it helps.
  20. Yep. You get an attaboy for that.
  21. That wouldn't be Rocket would it?
  22. That's easy. Bring the one the Polish Princess likes best..
  23. Fun stuff. I see I have plenty of places to ride for no reason.. I've hunted down Muffler men https://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/37847 all over the country. There are several in central Indiana.
  24. Yeah, the tire monkey didn't realize the block could stay in there, backed out the "special screw," and forgot to torque it back down.
