  1. don't go there and miss the Dragon. You won't enjoy it with all the weekend traffic. From Deal's Gap some like to take 28 east/south and others like to stay on 129 to Robbinsville. The road between Franklin and Highland follows the the rock face of a mountain and has two waterfalls on the route. There's an good diner in Franklin that's pretty popular. The 129-28 ride is probably my favorite ride anywhere when there's no traffic and no patrols.
  2. That bike's in primer, when you gonna paint it?

  4. Castrol Motorcycle Synth Blend 20-50. It's about $25 a jug at Cycle Gear. '01 V11 Sport Don't forget the transmission lube and the molly for the rear end.
  5. Noble- If I were heading there, I'd get there a day or two early or stay later (and avoid Saturday and Sunday) and ride the Tail of the Dragon (hwy 129) and on to hwy 28 to Highland then loop back through Robinsville. I think that is one of the best stretches of roads anywhere. The Dragon is usually too crowded on weekend to enjoy.
  6. You have to give it to Chuck. He "Jumped Into The Fire"
  7. Yamaha TRX? Sorry never seen one; I thought Suzuki made the only Asian bikes with trellis frames (SV, TL, and early 400 Bandit).
  8. wow. The black Duc is stunning. what trellis frame matched to that Yamaha?
  9. I rode to the Spine Frame Raid and back to Okla City a couple of years ago on the Greenie. That had to be about 2500 miles round trip considering stops and extra riding. I took the interstate going home and had to get off once an hour the last day or so to stretch my legs.
  10. Mine will occasionally do it too. Pipes, crossover, K&N and PC IV. Mine's not very pronounced. When it coughs I just give it a little more throttle. The key is don't lug it. It sometimes does it when coasting but again I blip the throttle when I downshift and will blip it again if it coughs. The issue for me so slight that I just ignore it. Blip the gas and chalk it up to the "character" of that big powerful (that's a laugh) V Twin.
  11. Mine has a PC IV in it, all tuned and runs good. The previous owner had it dialed in and I'm not going to fix what ain't broke. However, the big deal now is GuzziDiag. Using your PC to remap the ECU. There many off the shelf tunes that can be downloaded. Any way, just check it out on Wild Guzzi. All you need is a cable and a laptop. And a little more skill than I have. http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=69168.0

    MGNOC National

Elkader is a "must do". And the Minn guys were in Grand Marais this year which is just gorgeous. I wish they were back to back weekends. I'd like to attend both sometime. I went to Duluth and GM after attending Elkader National a few years ago. So it would even be better to have two rallies. I'd like to make the trek to John Day sometime. And WI too. Grand Marais from the vacation
  13. FWIW, the ride from Franklin to Highland is really nice. You follow a rock cliff around the mountain where the road is cut and there are two waterfalls to see. The southern most small one you can actually ride behind. The north one is pretty big and spectacular. My favorite ride of all is take the Dragon east to Deal's then take 28 at the split to Franklin for eats at the diner, then down to Highland. (just do it in the middle of the week)
  14. I used the manhole cover and kept cross threading it trying to get it back on. I ended up dropping the pan anyway.
  15. I don't know if you have the pegs yet but these guys sell Ducati reproduction parts at a reasonable price. As you know some parts also fit V11s. http://ca-cycleworks.com/ I got a replacement TPS from them.
  16. I've been there and done that. Take your chances, tell us your stories..........
  17. http://joellevinecompany.com/ fixed my Veglia Speedometer ('01 V11 Sport Greenie). There's a thread here too.
  18. Scud, you're a scholar and a gentleman.
  19. I got to ride an RC8. Very acceptable riding position. Strong midrange. I wish I could've opened up. The KTM guys said they could still be ordered.
  20. Scud, you're a stand up guy.
  21. I plan to again. Have done it for the last few years. usually in Sept - Oct.
  22. hope you and your bike are back 100%
  23. Stew- I think I just overfilled the gearbox. I've never filled it on a center stand (don't have one) and just roughly measured it. I think (hope) it's shed enough fluid where the pressure is down and won't leak out. But who knows?
