Yep. They have gray wheels like all the other red frames. Really pretty in person but hard to capture in a photo. As mentioned, Brad (Chuck's son) has dialed mine in so far as smooth torque and sweet handling.

Thanks for your input. After reading all this I decided to drop it off at Don's shop while I can still ride it and the bike is in one piece. Don has a guy that does plastic repair so perhaps he can fix the ABS as well. If the tranny is really busted, I'll look into the replacement. With all hope and trepidation. Then I'll get on to fixing the EV with a new clutch cable on order.

Appreciate your feedback. Both my side covers are cracked and the starter cover is split. epoxy from the backside hasn't helped.
-
If it's just a leak at a seam above the fluid level, I can definitely live with it, reseal it or dab some epoxy on it. A leaking crack into the structural mount is quite another. Thanks for all the info. I am armed with lots of information and accompanying anxieties. But now I have a game plan and even a replacement possibility for worst case.

WOW Scud. I didn't there would be any trannys around. It's great to know I might have an option if it's worst case.
-
Thanks Scud. Now I see the vent. It's a metal fitting in the top center pointing straight up. But considering the cracked case it's looking much worse then. I was thinking that if was cracked, it could just be epoxied but since it's on a structural mounting point I might be hosed. I'd hate to part it out since l love the bike.

well, worst case it could be the gearbox is cracked and structurally shot. The drip has been constant but slight for the last year. And only occurs after I ride it. Looking at the photos, I still can't locate the vent or the seal mentioned. To get to it, do I start from the top and tank the tank off or the bottom and remove the started? Or both? I've looked all these threads and repair manual and still can't make out where to start.
-
yeah, it's the pink stuff in the tranny and it's dripping. Like the photo. just a little. I'd ride it anywhere but it marks its spot.

My gearbox has been dripping for a year now. I thought it was dripping from the drain plug but see it coming from behind the starter. I assume that I have leak on top of the transmission or there is breather or vent up there. So I've searched this site as well as the repair manual and can't find the gearbox breather. Before I take off the tank or perhaps the started motor, I'd like to know what I am looking for and where. Not a big deal, just a few drops. Seems to be worse after I ride when the fluid gets warm and a little pressure builds in the tranny. So the leak doesn't appear to be below the fluid level. A little help guidance here would be appreciated. I've posted this photo before. Thanks

You might want to check with the Wild Guzzi forum, although no one is more knowledgeable than Pete.

Curiosity ?. V11 LeMans Long Distance Tire choice?
LowRyter replied to JesterGrin_1's topic in Technical Topics
I am running dunlops on my Sport. I didn't get mileage out of the Michelin PR 4 so I went back to Dunlop. I don't think the Dunlops last any longer but they handle just as well or better and cost a a third less. For some reason that Sport rear doesn't seem to last more than about 4k miles. I usually get 7k on my Bandit. Riding buddy Darren says it's because of my right wrist. He says he can see rubber dust every time I go. Since learning that, I've tried not to hit it so hard. -
Clyde? Well RIP, I didn't know. After hammering for JB, he was on "whadya know?" with Michael Feldman on NPR Saturday Mornings. The music accompaniment was a jazz trio with Clyde on the drums. Michael retired the show last summer after 30 years. Clyde might've been with Michael as long as with James. https://whadyaknow.net/

Curiosity ?. V11 LeMans Long Distance Tire choice?
LowRyter replied to JesterGrin_1's topic in Technical Topics
I go through tires pretty quickly. I can trail brake on the Sport, whereas my Suzuki likes to stand up when I trail brake but the sport stay where I point it. But I wear the rear out down the center. So, trail braking isn't the problem. Perhaps my right wrist is? -
I find my legs get tired all bunched up on the Sport. Unlike my other bikes, the seat seems comfy. But after an hour or so I want to stretch my legs. I am one of those 60+ guys that have gone to the gym over the last year or so. I've lost 20 lbs. My knees don't hurt much, since I started jogging. I also over did it on the weight machines and burst a vein in eye but luckily my vision is mostly back. So work at a reasonable pace.

most bike riders I know use Seafoam to clean out carburetors..... injectors? I've always used Seafoam. Can't tell it's hurt anything.

the replacement TPS is still working on my EV.

I just had a vein break in my left (dominant) eye. This happened around New Year's. I was at the gym and perhaps went at it too much and saw flashes. The flashes didn't go away and then my vision blurred. I got referred from one Doc to another. Somehow between seeing 4 doctors or exams, it started to get better. The last Doc was somewhat amazed. Said he didn't need to use lasers and needles on me. Really know very little. But am OK. 20/25 (with glasses) but see a few spots. -

+1 on the colonoscopy. Right now I am on an annual cycle. I need to tell me sons to get them started at 40, not 50. Best to you and your family. And thanks for the helpful advice. -
It's about $38 from Harper's. Same thing fell of the starter cover on the EV. I never replaced it.

When I see those huge (Brat) front tires (bias?), it seems to defeat the entire purpose of a performance cafe racer. I would really like to see a 1400 built for performance rather that a pseudo version. I guess the giveaway was the Tonti Frame which is retro cool but not cutting edge for sure.

That was at CU Boulder at Buffalo-ed Field. About 30,000 more folks there that can fit into Red Rocks. Dead & Co are heading back there on 9-10 Jun 17. They're going to Atlanta for the next stop on the 13th. I think I'm taking the travel trailer and a bike back to the Rockies to see them again. The great thing is being able to download the concert after you've seen it. And of course popping a couple of edibles at the show. see them. Mayer just rocks it. Even in dry ol 'latna.
