  1. I always shoot some contact cleaner into that gap too. Next time I'll throw salt over my shoulder.
  2. well not so much. I took it out to meet a fellow Guzzi rider and rode 60 miles one way, started to rain. Got a few backfires and a couple of skips/surges. After lunch, started to rain again. Started the bike and went for 50 ft, bike died altogether. Cranked but no fire. Played musical relays- looked dusty in there (?). Bike ran like a train all the way home. Got home and got the contact cleaner.
  3. you painted the frame black?
  4. Since I got the bike out of the shop, it's run a bit better but was getting an off throttle backfire, particular when I downshifted. Since the bike was dyno tuned, I'd thought they might've been just too aggressive with timing and/or fuel. Anyway I was going to take it back. Then Sunday, I took to the DGR ride and the problem got quite bit worse, lots of backfiring and hesitation. Then it occurred to me that it was likely the TPS. I opened the connector and gave it a shot of contact cleaner. Did a ride yesterday and it ran clean and strong
  5. @Revilo best to you. build it the way you want it - once it's done like you want, ride it, enjoy it. Once you're riding it and happy, priceless. make it a journey and best of luck.
  6. @guzzler Mine has 78 HP on the chassis dyno and it's got a pipe and PC. I don't know what it weighs with me on it, perhaps over the limit? It's gotta a nice power curve matched to the transmission and is a hoot to ride. agree that nice bikes aren't losing any money. It's a classic for what it is. Nothing looks better, sounds better, or handles much better for that size.
  7. It's this Sunday. Taking the Sport. Not a lot of mention of it although the local ride has the biggest signup ever with 51.
  8. TPS on my Sport has been OK for 50k. The EV has had three or four at 72k. Recently got the whole thing done, cleaned out the TB, reset balance and replaced TPS (actually went through 2, first one sent back). At the same time, got balance & tune, brakes and tires and once over on the Sport. TPS OK. I hope my Guzzi fiddling is done for a few years. I've thought about getting rid of the EV and sometimes the Sport but once I ride them, especially when they're running RIGHT, they put a smile on face. Since I've got them back the Duc was been ridden about half as before.
  9. Congrats on a successful rally Joe. I'll have to make the trek some day.
  10. I just looked at my bill, EBC HH $47 rear and $40 front. That's two weeks ago. wait? black back (is that rear brake,,,,?? no. ) A few bucks....different brands, different dates ...like everything else over the last few years from gasoline to potatoes. skip all that. The front seems a little weak with these pads. Rather than go dollars and cents, maybe some tech talk. Now the guy did replace the levers (he dropped my bike). I readjusted the lever (pivot and pullback) after a long ride and it seemed better around the block, I suppose I shouldn't make a point until give it a longer ride.
  11. That's not a Ferrari! Doh!
  12. /ea
  13. I just got new pads on my Sport a couple of weeks ago. Oddly I was told the rears cost more than the fronts
  14. @docc next visit can I drive your Daytona?
  15. every V11 is a limited edition collectable. Some just more so.
  16. ...looks like a nice bike to me. I don't think nice Spineys are getting any cheaper. I don't see the point of criticizing our own family of bikes. I think this one might need a bellhousing support? Condition means a lot. If you want it, where ya gonna find another?
  17. Dropping the pan on these Guzzis gets old after a while.
  18. @docc Little Feat was all time fav band. I got to see them just after Columbus came out. I was familiar with most of the songs until I heard "A Day at the Dog Races". Saw a couple of later iterations, post Lowell. One memorable time at Forest Park in St Louis opening for the Allman's. The last time at Daytona Bike Week. Comparing FZ with LF sorta apples and oranges. I suppose I wasn't expecting FZ with such a tight band with so many breaks and changes with pro session guys, particularly given the previous Flo-Eddie era. I didn't know that Frank had such a jazz background and was orchestral composer. But I was expecting something similar to Apostrophe, I just didn't expect it to be so polished and tight. My fav live bands today at Tedeschi Trucks and hope to see the last Dead & Co. Both bands are masters of improvisation and great chops. TTB also like to bring in some of the members of the opening bands with them, like Los Lobos.
  19. @ScuRoo I'm not that motivated but thanks and for the record, I saw Zappa too. After Apostrophe came out. One of the best bands I had ever seen. I think Sly Dunbar and Geo Duke were part of it.
  20. so far as sayin' who saw who... Yea, I saw Clarke's group, the opening act was the Dixie Dregs. This was at Trinity U in San Antonio in the early '80's. Also, to make me sound like a dweeb, Stanley said it was the first time they'd ever performed together. I had recordings of both artists. Had a great time. And all I remember is they blew me away.
  21. ouch!
