  1. Oddly enough after reading your review of the 701, I drew up alongside one just now at the light. Even though it's in the city I could see, as I followed him, that he was having fun nimbly swinging the bike around underneath him avoiding the potholes.
  2. Did you get an answer to the nut on the cap assembly question you posted a pic of ? Cryptic I know but Ian knows what I’m talking about
  3. Bugger ! Sorry I missed that when I looked it over. I'd forgotten how much 'Guest rachethack' used to wind people up. Post how you get on, I'm always interested to learn from others as I don't seem to have as much time as I'd like try different settings.
  4. Chuck found it; http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7960&hl=%20ohlins%20%20fork%20%20rebuild
  5. That's a tedious job; I'm sure any of the members who have the skills to instal one of the springs have the ability to cut them down to length. I wouldn't add to your workload. Boltcutters are an imprecise tool, I'd fashion a small wooden block with a groove for the spring to locate in, making the thickness of the block act as the guide for a dremel cutoff blade. I'll take 2, when you're ready.
  6. This is a noble goal! No value in increasing the red charging wire gauge? Sorry did I miss something ?
  7. My vote is for a V11 with the upgrade Ohlins suspension & if someone has been through, sorted & serviced a 16 year bike. Even better !
  8. Couldn't figure this Guzzi out ; it has round fins. But the frame I don't recognise. Someone spent alot of time on it.
  9. GuzziMoto, I think you said it very well when you said, 'the griso is a touring bike that goes round corners well & the V11 is a sportbike that you can tour on'
  10. That, Guys & girls is Pete's declaration of affection on this Valentine's Day.
  11. Thanks for the good wishes ; I’ve had the Griso for a year now & although both the V11 are similar there are enough differences between them. Both keep putting a Big Grin on my face !
  12. An early scene from 'Young Frankenstein' perhaps ?
  13. Same potatoes mate. I think ‘jubilee clip’ might be the english way of saying hose clamp? Kinda like ‘rose joint’ is the english way of saying heim joint... Yep !
  14. I'm booked in. My mate Blair with his 'new' 2007 Red Griso 1100 will be joining us for the fun. Looking forward to it !
  15. Wasn't certain if I should post this in the 'rocker covers' thread...
  16. I used to think mine was the same, just one of those character details. Till someone reminded me that I could flatten them on a piece of plate glass. Stopped the weep. But I would prefer to have the reusable vitron gaskets that fit on the Griso I recently had the opportunity to check a piece of 10mm flat plate glass on my granite surface plate expecting it to be dead flat, it wasnt. Turns out it was around 0.002" out over about a 400mm length. Just for info purposes as I was led to believe a piece of float plate glas was dead flat. Would be fine to flatten a rocker cover though I would think. Ciao What !! This was a 1/2” thick, sorry 12.7 mm thick piece & I had it laying on the machined part of my sawtable. That’s as true as it gets in my shop. But good to know. It all depends on the degree of precision needed I guess.

  18. So send the DXF file to Swooshdave & he can convert it to PDF & pass it on to Scud . I should have thought of that this morning . Duh !
  19. This drifting of this thread ties in with the horror story Pete Roper is telling over on WildGuzzi & Grisoghetto. Broken parts lost in the engine, frozen camshafts & trashed flat tappets. Not for the squimish
  20. I'll buy 1, or 2, not that ' need them ' but as a talisman
  21. Or as Chuck quotes 'that the least expensive motorcycle you can buy just might be the most expensive. '
