  1. Hi and welcome. Mine makes a similar sound but only at idle while warming. It's clearly coming from outside the motor (mine) so I'm not bothered. 'Something' mounted close to 'something else' and occasionally rattling. (exhaust or charcoal can?) I would recommend using a piece of garden hose or similar tubing, about 2 feet long, placing one end at your ear and use the other to "browse" for the noise. Like a stethoscope. If it's internal, I can't speculate.
  2. Captain obvious here. Be sure to NOT replace the alm flywheel with another oem alm flywheel. There is forum evidence that some have done this. Replace it with an oem dual plate clutch ( probly best bet) or Ram low inertia single plater(very hard to find). Or something else with a steel flywheel.
  3. I couldn't think of bejeweling myself when I have two lovely V11 to adorn. They would hate me. Have you posted photos of your bike here before? We like bike pics. In the Belgian countryside maybe?
  4. ". I read somewhere that the threads that it screws into can be problematic." agreed. mine was buggered. wouldn't tighten up, wouldn't come out. just flops a bit. I left it, ground wire between two nuts. the tach works fine.
  5. More on that topic, with an interesting picture here:http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19510&page=2&do=findComment&comment=211566Aluminium alloys do not have a fatigue limit like steel, so every power stroke leads the aluminum flywheel inexorably closer to eventually cracking. Then the cracks join hands. Then "pop". Or is it "grind grind clatter"? I don't know 'cause I have a two plate clutch. The fear of God has been put in me. That, and I suspect the problem has been the clutch all along, it was the shop that steered me down the path of clutch bleeds and gear selectors, though it was time to do both of those too so no regrets there. I'm going to order a clutch replacement kit today. Thanks. Don't feel too bad. You're just discovering this potential problem. At least no catastrophe. Many of us have lived with the expectation for some time. I knew I'd have to fix it sooner rather than later though I have a low mile bike, 12k mi., with no problems. I've had a long time to come to the realization that it's just going to have to be done. It's not worth the gamble. Winter comes, and time for the fix.
  6. From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be remember'd; We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he to-day that sheds his blood with me Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile, This day shall gentle his condition; And gentlemen in England now a-bed Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here, And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day. Are we heading to battle? some could see a reference to battle. It pops up on the forum from time to time to reference the good times to be had while skinning ones knuckles and talking Guzzi with the like minded. As with Agincourt, no matter who is best, we are better.

  8. my first thought is the dreaded aluminum flywheel is coming apart on you. I wouldn't think It would take very long to to do so once it fractures, but who knows? How long has it been acting up? How many miles on her?
  9. Those are nice but, I ride with one of these on my necklace. 10mm
  10. The 8V motors have an issue involving the cam followers. They went to rollers at some point, 2011-2012?? for a fix.I'm not sure when or which models, but there's info out there. You may want to watch out for the early ones.
  11. Hi and welcome. I can't opine on specifics, but over the last 10 years of my moto lifestyle, my mantra has become "less is more". I'm 66 and do not want anything bigger or more bulky, or more complicated than my V11 LM. The 1200 Sport get's my vote.
  12. those are helpful thanks. there was another thread in the last year or two I recall a 'how to'. I should have saved it. Odd how 'sag' in the search finds nothing.
  13. 2. When you search, notice the little grey box inside the search box. If it says "this topic" your search is limited to the thread you're in. If it says "forums" you will search everything. You can click that box to change the breadth of your search. When my search yields nothing - it's usually because I was only searching the active topic, not the whole forum. 3. I paste some links into a Word document to save them for future reference. You can also click the "Follow this topic" button - then you can display a list of "topics I follow." You can also choose to be notified when posts are added to topics you follow. 4. You're welcome. Funny that 'setting sag' brings up a long list, and 'sag' and 'set sag' finds nothing. Yup, I choose 'forums' and still have a tough time. I guess it's just word play. I also follow topics I want. I'll do the same as you for saving tech info.
  14. a search for set sag, or sag, with all options, comes up blank. 1. Someone please drag up that thread link for me. 2. teach me how to search this forum. 3. is there an option to personally archive valuable threads on this forum? 4. thank you
  15. I'm curious about the GEI being nicely sealed at the bottom, and the others not so. Seems like a good idea, moisture, corrosion, and all. Any thoughts?
  16. I want to see it happen, on any level. The article beat around the bush re which motor and which race, but I'd be excited about any of them. Especially 750 flat track. Don't think Guzzi'd have a chance against an HD? I'd sure as hell watch 'em try! The likelihood of them financing that level of R&D would be less plausible than fielding competition. Duc didn't do too bad.
  17. Good to meet you And Ruby, Scott. Stunning Billabio up close. Post one of 'the flag' if you have it. I loved it.
  18. It was a very cool thing to observe this weekend Docc (among other things ) Watching it happen makes it seem a lot more doable. Thanks for listing it.
  19. I saw what I've been missing the last 2 years I've known about this ride. The spectacular roads and scenery are only secondary to all the fine folks I've met this weekend. What a superb collection of traveling souls. All the character I could have expected from a gaggle of Guzzisti from this forum. A garage full of beautiful motorcycles, and a motel second to none for this noble purpose. I couldn't think of a better spot to put a put a place like that. Tranquility within throttle shot of such glorious roads. Truly perfection.
  20. "and my test ride did not explode the engine. :)" that's my gauge of success!
  21. Mine came today. Given 2 coats of Rustoleum 'Stainless' enamel, and almost dry enough to install for the weekend. they look great.
  22. It got me thinking about a color change. Researching the vin breakdown, every number or letter is accounted for except the 9th. KR is the model (Sport?) and AKR is the variant (LM?) The 9th is described as undefined, or free. It has a range of 0 to 9. Anyone have any idea what that is for? None of the rest are reserved for color. The vin on both my bikes are the same but for the 9th (the LM is a 4 and the Tenni is a 6) and the last five (serial) I would assume one could paint a red one champaign, change it on the title, and no one would be the wiser. A Tenni would be harder to fake but not impossible.
  23. We have two TSC rain barrels that look and work well enough, but only hold 55G each. One's at the house for flowers there; the other down near those ones you saw in the pix. The two big guys are German feed or something tanks that, once used, are all over the market, We paid about $100 each for ours. Hooked up to the gutter system to the Moto Grappa, they hold 1000L/300G each. Impressively -- and as an illustration about how much surface even a roof of a 50x30 building has -- one big thunderstorm will fill them in an afternoon! We have a number of new trees that require weekly watering in the summer (25 or so gallons each) and that worried us enough about depleting our well that we tried the rain route. So far, so fine. Cursor? Hadn't thought of that. Maybe. I'd like to think so, but my "little white" cursor is an arrow. Mebbe a Mac thing. Thanks. Bill Thanks. I'd like to find a big one or 2 of those German feed things. I need auxiliary water too. Doesn't everybody? So I changed my little white arrow to black, which makes it easier to see! I also found a feature to "find" my cursor by hitting ctrl. That's cool. My black arrow still turns into a little white hand when it touches to highlight. So I blame Win10.
