  1. "I'm going to try to make a different spring arrangement that will last longer. Maybe a pair of lighter springs, or an extra turn on a spring made of similar wire, or use better material." Marty
  2. Thanks so much Chuck for your efforts. Much appreciated. Bikes will be pleased too. check's in the mail!
  3. I like your cistern set up Bill. I that a dedicated, or a re purposed? I think the 'little white hand' meant the cursor
  4. that's the one that has gone out on me twice. once a Siemens and once a GEI. never noticed the heat
  5. I use Three Bond 1194 for most of my seals. (grey) I used it on a vintage leaky carb and it worked great there too. I wish we could find a replacement spring that was larger and would not break! The new "upgrade" looks just like the old one to me. I got one each from MGCycles and Harpers. Both measure the same as what I took out.
  6. Scud, what a fantastic loop. too right about what 'coulda happened'. I am greatful it was not worse. MartyNZ sent me the link to that repair for the Ti can. It looks fairly easy. I haven't done the clutch yet either. Winter comes, as Jon Snow says.
  7. I watched as a large fan in my shop's ceiling, fell on both my Guzzi's. It put a deep gouge on my seat cowl on one bike, and a nice dent in my new Ti muffler on the other. I was close enough to see it come loose and I managed an attempt at swatting it away. Like when you knock over your beer and you move like lightning to catch it.... and to everyone's amazement, you do, but the beer still goes everywhere. 8. here's a recent thread. not exactly the same, but similar problem. maybe it'll spark an idea. electric of some kind, my guess. I'd start with replacing the fuel pump relay. http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19501&hl=
  9. damn. sorry to hear that. when ya get a moment, elaborate some on the spring, if you don't mind. How long did that one last? Did you replace the arm with the new size boss? I've replaced both on my two bikes. Am I riding around with a false sense of security? I do carry a spare new spring, but that's only so it won't happen.
  10. Will that product Flitz put the shine back in the CF parts? mine are definitely faded. I was afraid to use it on my CF mufflers only because they used less resin in construction, creating a more textured surface. Sun fading caused them to have a dry and rough surface. I thought the white creamy polishing compound would be a mess. I used Flitz on my CF dash panel and a BMW CF front fender like yours. It made them look new. They had a smooth resin surface to start with under that sun fade, and they polished up just like the aluminum that the product was made for. Works well on paint fade too. Just be careful to not polish right through the paint. It takes all that dry chalky crap right off. I have only used a moist rag and fingers, be veeerrry careful to use an electric tool. It will put a shine on the 'factory flat' dulled finishes, and will restore the faded pork chops too. Probably any high quality metal polish will do the same thing. I just always have a tube of Flitz around. Did I say.. your bike is beautiful? ps. I used it to clean my head pipes when they were off last winter. It cleaned off everything, and put a nice polish on as well.
  11. The bike looks gorgeous! My tail rack was a bit wider but sprung back easy when tightened. I'm glad it wasn't smaller! If those side covers and front fender are carbon fiber, I can recommend a product called Flitz. It's a fine aluminum polish and it worked well for me on my CF dash panel. I used it on the sun faded tail body paint too. A little elbow grease and it shined up great.
  12. very.. very nice bike. good score, good job.
  13. I haven't used that brand, but I did use a somewhat similar thing on my K1200 BMW. It was a detachable wing from an MRA shield (for another Bike). It had adjustable legs and I mounted it at the top of my windscreen. It worked well. What I discovered is, while it did not direct the wind up and past me, it created a turbulence at just the right spot in front of my head. This acted like a wall of sorts, which seriously reduced the direct winds that hit me in the face. I think the Laminar Lip works like that. I met some old timer cross country bikers years ago at a rest stop out west. They used the 'lips' and swore by them. They advised me to start (on the beemer) with just adding some split tubing to the edge of my windscreen for an experiment. (of course the V11 comes with this) I could actually tell a difference in the effect it had on helmet buffeting. Not much, but noticeable. Point is, anything you can do to disrupt the air flow will show a range of effects on your helmet. You just have to find the sweet spot. My red LM came with the higher MRA windscreen (4") and it's effect on me was not desirable. It did direct wind up, but it created more buffeting, which is what wears on my neck and shoulders. I find the stock screen to be just about right, but I wouldn't be afraid to play with a small wing if I found the right one.
  14. I'm jealous! And happy for you! (There is a tune-up procedure posted in "Frequently Asked Questions"): http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=12204 There are some improvements and perhaps "easier" methods that could give you excellent results. It would be a good topic post for the Technical Topics as we all probably need to revisit this "tune-up" idea! Plus 1 on all that!
  15. take ya time. I'll pay extra attn to my shifts till it gets here. then I can rejoice in the difference. AND it'll be the strongest part on the bike.
