  1. I have Shorai in 2 other bikes and wanted to get one for the LM, but read something around here recently about the Li batteries messing with the reg/rect or something like that. You remember this Marty?
  2. I can't see how the tranny gears can make the noise in your original video. More than likely the clutch/flywheel. BUT, I would advise a friend to do what Pete Roper suggests -First and always-.

  4. I'm thinking it's a '70's V7 Sport. Distinctive round tail light, high square cut chrome fender, the "semblance" of a bevel box and protruding jug. There is a hint of a slash cut muffler at just the right place. Add to that, my desire that it 'should' be a vintage V7 Sport, means it most likely is . A person's got to have one true classic in his garage, right?

  7. Mine broke at 13k mi. Lucky for me less than 2 mi from home and in 2nd gear. When it goes whatever gear you're shifting from is the gear you have till it's repaired. It was such an easy repair that I did my other LM right away. The pawl arm boss was too large in both bikes, and investigating the one that hadn't broken yet, it was clear the spring was in a tight bind when shifting. My bosses were, I believe, 16+ mm, and they should be 15. The new arm I got was 15mm and using it did not replicate the binding. The other one I did, I just filed the boss down just below 15. The repair "can" be done roadside, but I'd rather not. You'll need a small kit of tools to carry, along with your new spring, and a new 15mm boss pawl arm, OR a small file. The 'other' great thing about doing it preemptively in the shop is, you can ease and finesse the contact points of the spring and hopefully prevent another fail. The other- other great thing is you get to do the complete Lucky Phil shift upgrade!
  8. Gosh, I don't know. As of late I don't want to give up great handling for higher mileage. I guess I'm maybe incorrectly imagining a 10k mi. trip involving a LOt of "I" roads, which I only ever use for brief convenience/necessity. I've seen many a rider diverting for an emergency replacement. The cord can (and has for me) kinda show up out of nowhere when highway riding. Personally I would plan on 2 sets of tires. Sorry I couldn't be more help, but I am looking forward to others suggestions on the topic.
  9. I was going to mention but questioned my own vision... Lucky Phils photo of the seal with "faint lines" looked to me as going in both directions, IE - wave.

  11. Yours is tighter than mine scud! Also BBlock, using the stock crossover, I think, should make it a bit easier. I had to cut the left side rear of my Stucci 1/2" b/c they welded it funny and it was longer, making it stick out further. Not for sure, but I don't think the Ti hangers (1100Spot) are wider on the right like the Sport LM's.

  13. Yes to what Chuck said! I would add that "loosening fasteners" includes head pipes.. just enough to let em slip a bit. Get the entire system to move side to side. If you have a crossover hanger, loosen it too. Just make sure when you tighten up, that the head pipes don't contact the block. Move it all around till the cans look good. i have the Stucci Xover and I had a hell of a time getting it right. I ended up shimming the left side outward with a 10mm spacing washer, placed where the strap hangs. Tightened up from the back forward, they stayed where I wanted them.

  15. With these now being the best available.... are they better than the NLA G8HN-1C2T-R DC12? I see minor differences in the spec sheet but I can't decipher them. I ask because I recently installed the latter in both my LM's.

    pretty sure they were 1495.00 when they were available from Guzzi. Alas, no more. Last year there was a special "find" and some sets were sold by Harpers for 1000.00. They pop up used rarely, or "garage NOS" now and then. Keep an eye out.

  18. I think you could install the 5 speed RAM kit, but you would need to also find a transmission input gear that was removed from a Scura or Tenni. I imagine some of those are available from Scura owners who went to twin-plate. Speculation... and mystery.. and...   19. My extended rides are always accompanied by my sheep skin seat cover. By the time it flattens out it only is about 3/8" thick so not much help there. I use it for 'monkey butt'. I works wonders for comfort, and makes the prostate happier. The wool sheds water very well, and provides ventilation for hot days.
  20. It's my understanding the only difference in the 5spd kit and the 6spd kit is the clutch gear, or hub. The hub that comes with the 6spd kit is the same as the one in our single plate bikes. Tenni, Scura, Rosso Mandello. "theoretically" you can install the 5spd kit using your clutch gear. Scud has more info to share I'm sure.

  23. I used a handlebar conversion on my BMW K1200RS from Speigler using LSL parts. Not sure who makes them now. It was great stuff. My problem was regretting changing the angles, which caused annoying wrist and fore arm pain, as well as a whole new way of piloting. I changed it back. BMW had adjustable clip ons with a similar downward angle to the Goose. I like that. Even with bringing them up... I want that down angle for comfort.
