  2. Got my bar ends installed on Friday and I gotta say I really like em a lot more than the stock lollipops. The stockers vibrated bad at speed and I could barely see what was behind me. The bar ends have taken a bit of finagling to get them tight but I think I get em set now. Ill post up pics in a bit.
  3. The plate is deep under the seat, it kinda has to be to compensate for the swingers movement otherwise the bottom of the plate would hit the top of the rear fender. The bracket I made does hold the plate at a decent angle. It is well lit and there are no obstructions to reading it from behind. I asked a police officer about the legality today and he said if I wasn't doing anything stupid and it truly was readable, I didn't have the bike with me to show him, that I should not have a problem. The new law regarding inspections stickers went into effect March 1 so I asked him about that as well. He let me know that the lack of sticker at this point was a vague area but that they can't pull me over for not having one since the law officially changed.
  4. Thanks for the compliment. By no means is it perfect but for now it works. Once the new turn signals arrive I may change things up a bit but until then...
  5. Mirrors are on the way. They are similar to the Napoleons but a bit different. I wanted a set of round ones until I saw a sweet Ducati with the oval / rectangular type mirrors at Revival Cycles this past weekend. Headed my way - http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNIVERSAL-MOTORBIKE-BAR-END-REARVIEW-MIRRORS-7-8-PAIR-MOTORCYCLE-BIKE-BLACK-/171246269651?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27df12b4d3&vxp=mtr
  6. Doh, I just pulled it apart removing the bar end weight and gave the stem a pull and it slid right out. Looks like its going to take some serious trimming to get the new stuff down to size.
  7. So Scud, if I understand it correctly you pulled the stock ends and removed the screw in weight. I understand that you also ground down the edges of the washer and rubber stopper but what about the original mounting stud that the stock bar end screwed into? If need be I can take pics to show what I am talking about? I am thinking, as doc said, that it needs to be removed for me to mount new bar end mirrors.
  8. Painted the brackets and mounted everything up today. Once the new turn signals come in Ill replace the stockers and be good to go. This pic is a bit dark and it looks a bit off to the side but I think its because of the way the bike is sitting on the stand. Ill get better pics in the daylight. Pretty happy with the way it turned out.
  9. Did you have to pull out all of the old bar end parts?
  10. So when you did the install did you have to remove the old insert? I am looking at getting a set of bar end mirrors and pulled my bar end apart and removed the threaded weight but then what? If you removed the old insert do you have any tips on removing it?
  11. Did you fill the filter and let it set then refill again until you were sure it was full? When I do mine the oil takes time to actually fill the filter as it works its way through the media.
  12. Its normal for it to come on for a second but should go out pretty quickly. Have you checked the oil level? Did you clean the filter screen in the bottom of the sump and replace it?
  13. The bits and pieces: Mounted and lit...It's just mounted up using zip ties so everything is not quite straight. I have to pull everything apart to paint it and make it right. Set the tail on it, you can see the the size of the tail lights is about the size of a quarter. The pic above is just in running light mode, if I hit the brakes its blinding. Once I get it all buttoned up I will take a video and post it up. I have ordered new clutch and brake fluid reservoirs and am looking for some bar end mirrors to get rid of the lollipops. Here is a link to the turn Rizoma like signals - http://www.ebay.com/itm/251723689754?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT They will be mounted front and back and should be much brighter than stock.
  14. I was using the "image button to link photos from photobucket but it dint work. Let see if it works if I just post the link rather than inserting it using the image button.... Tearing it down: I really like the look of ending the bike at the back of the seat....maybe a future project: License plate mounted along with the LED light...its way bright. I may get pulled over for putting the plate under the seat but I am willing to roll the dice. If need be I know I can put the plate under the brake lights. I was worried about the flex in the suspension hitting the plate but think it will be ok. I made a bracket that has a decent slant to it so it should be ok while leaving the plate very readable from behind....but not by those toll road cams.... Fabbed up a bracket for the tail lights / turn signals. Once the new turn signals come in I will pull the bracket and replace the stockers with the new ones. Ill post up a link to the turn signals below. Stuff is locking up, time to do a restart and continue in a bit.
  15. I have some info in two threads so I thought I would start a new one to bring it all together. I don't like all the stuff hanging off the tail of the V11 and want to be seen better. I started searching around and found some LEDs that I think will do the trick. I picked up some super bright micro LEDs to be used as tail light and brake lights along with a resistor and M-Stop relay switch that will modulate the brake light, the M-stop will allow me to pick the pattern. I wanted to tuck the license plate up under the seat so I purchased a LED light to light up the plate. All above items were sourced locally at Revival Cycles. Sourced from eBay were a set of 4 LED turn signals and round LED relay. The relay showed up in a few days but the signals look like they going to be a while...slow boat from China... I was going to wait for the turn signals to arrive but decided yesterday that I would rip into it and see what I could come up with. I was able to get quite a bit further that I thought, the results are below. I tried posting the pics using the photo link but it tells me I am not allowed to use that service....any tips? If not I will have to shrink them down and post them.
  16. A few weeks ago I picked up a set of the Michelin Pilot Power 3s and I gotta say they are nice. Cant speak to the longevity but the reviews say they last. Revzilla has the best price but the local Cycle Gear matched it.
  17. bit less at Harpers: http://www.harpermoto.com/turn-indicator-lens-ap8224258.html
  18. No info on the backOff but after reading about it the Motogadget M stop seems to be a better choice since you can change the pattern with the flick of a switch. I went over to Revival today and picked up the two LEDs, M Stop, LED License plate light, and after going over the wiring diagram with the guys there I went ahead and picked up an extra resistor....and a new t-shirt. At this point I am waiting on the LED turn signals to arrive, they are on a slow boat from China. The LED relay that I ordered showed up today, ordered a round one to it should fit right in the place of the stock turn signal relay. Those little round LEDs are super bright!
  19. Mine is a PCIII. As stated above, it came already installed on my bike by the previous owner.
  20. Ive been through two of em and just called Harper Moto Guzzi and they had em, think it was about $14.
  21. Ill try but usually realize that I have yet to take one pic just about the time I am done...
  22. I have one on mine, not sure of the model but I will check when I get home and post up. It came already on my bike when I bought it.
  23. Im getting rid of that piece and fabbing up a replacement that will house two of these: http://revivalcycles.com/collections/for-your-ride-bestsellers/products/led-light Ill also be adding the Motogadget M-Stop so the brake lights will flash a few times then go constant. The guy at Revival says these lights are way brighter than any stock light. Heading over there tomorrow to pick em up and have led turn signals and appropriate relay on the way. You can also search for eagle eye led lights on eBay for similar lights dirt cheap.
