In the photo, it looks a lot like there is a luggage rack on that bike. That is no doubt what the red bag is on. As far as the throwover bags on the seat go, taking off the cover on the so-called pillion seat (torture rack ) would prevent paint damage. 1

Yes, that is what I did. And I use a certain transparent tape that came with the throw-over bag to protect the parts that are touched by the straps. And there are bodywork protection flaps on the straps as well. It is a SW Motech throw-over and the rear rack is the same as you have. The aluminum colored rack. Side stands are for propping the motorcycle not a mounting device. Edited Sunday at 08:41 PM by Lucky Phil 4 1

Maybe yours would break under your weight? 1

Do BMW Gs's have a history of damaging side stand mounts and crankcase mounts like the V11's? Do our bikes sit as upright on the side stand as the bike shown? ( I notice he has the front wheel deliberately in a depression in the track) Every bike and side stand is unique and the v11 Series is known for less than robust side stand mounts. Your bike your risk but to other's here they might want to consider the individual bike and it's mechanics before making a habit of getting on it as shown. Edited 15 hours ago by Lucky Phil 1

I can see what he means about keeping the weight on the side where the stand is, but making a science of it? I think he was just showing off a bit.
footgoose Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago I posted the video for a better visual of the method, not to prove anything. Just a random answer to @gstallons query of How do you "throw a leg over that"? You don't have to. You can do it this way. It's great for any tall bike, or loaded high, or wide bags. Or when using MX boots. I've always naturally mounted my enduros this way, as long as it can be safely stood up and secure. Referring to internet information, your opinion, my opinion, the youtuber opinion, should all get the same scrutiny. Any rider doesn't feel comfortable with this mount, shouldn't do it. Same advice I give to those considering a first bike who worry about their safety in traffic. 2

I just find the South African accent in general rather charming, and someone getting scientific about how to get on a motorcyle with that accent slightly amusing. Edited 15 hours ago by audiomick 1 1
