  1. welcome back brother. MG Cycle will have what you need. I use a 27mm nut (or 1- 1/16") thats about 20mm tall, that I found in my bolt/nut pile. The recess in the cap is only about 1/4" so you dont need a nut as deep as mine. Then a 27mm socket fits right over to unscrew.
  2. I love my V11, (one a bit more than the other) and will always keep and ride it. If I were to seek another Guzzi, it would be a Griso, hands down. It has always had my interest, tho once dampened somewhat with the tappet issues. Once the wire spoked wheel version came out and the roller fix, I like them even more.
  3. the one with the tube between is Mistral
  4. the conversation is way above my pay grade, but I'm following your projects with much interest. thanks for taking the time, and for posting.
  5. adding a bit more detail.... For day rides I have 2 Vanson. A grey full perf for hot, and a black half perf for cooler days. If I went down I'd be very glad to have one of these jackets on. They fit so nice in riding position, but a bit stiff and "shaped" for any walking around. The full perf is older and really comfortable. I keep lite armor in shoulder and elbow only, in this one. All areas including back get heavy armor for the half perf. My Roadcrafter has all but hip armor. I should get that. Helmets are very personal. Some fit some heads, some don't. Schuberth feels like a bucket, Arai too wide on my bean. Shoei feel like they were made for me. They must use the same test dummies. Model after model, the same great fit. The GT Air is my latest, and greatest. The hide-away sunscreen visor is perfect. No need to carry xtra visors, and it doesn't foul if you're wearing glasses, OR go down too far, giving you a 'peek' under it if needed (tunnels). Older Nolan used to fit me well, but the older generation modular were too big (exterior) and too noisy. Their newer ones look better in photos. Anyone using a late model Nolan modular? like N100-5? Or? My A star boots are still lovely after all these years -- for touring. My A star waterproof gloves, are not waterproof or lovely.
  6. oooo, I like that cinch system! wonder if it will outlast the boot. It breaks, yer %$#@d.
  7. thanks for that link Tim. Very helpful. It and other pertinent threads could be combined (?) maybe for a massive Single Plate Conversion 'sticky' ??
  8. the Guzzi 'single' flywheel is aluminum. the RAM is steel. that is why the RAM does not crack
  9. This flywheel bears a strong resemblance to my OEM Tenni fw. but for the sensor cap screws.
  10. I have an actuating rod from a dual plate '03 and it measures 203mm in length by 8mm I have the OEM 6spd clutch actuating rod receiving cup, or "button" with a hole measuring 8.68mm. I don't have the rod to measure length as it's in the bike. I had, and threw out, a 5spd clutch. I measured the "button" hole and posted it somewhere on the forum in one of our conversion threads. I believe it's smaller in dia. maybe 6 or 7mm?? Sorry
  11. any wondering as to who the mfg of the exploding flywheel is cleared up here. can't believe I never noticed it before...
  12. here is my Tenni OEM clutch. Pre detonation.
  13. from the link..... " Special nylon mid-sole with steel shank " = has my interest, and would indicate an advantage (to my feet anyway) in hiking. As far as the strap buckles.... I've had about 50/50 success with those on other brands. Very convenient and great for riding. For walking/hiking, as the boots loosen up, may not give the ankle/arch support my feeble feet need. I have a 20 yr old pair of Icon Low with a fantastic strap/buckle system. The Forma look like a great boot all around.
  14. You are aware I'm sure but, you'll want to take note of flywheel position as you remove it. Reason being, the crank position mark may be hard to see or gone altogether. The marks on your new clutch may not be the same "font" (?) or characters... but will be in the same positions as the stocker. Just note which one's up, and duplicate it with the new one.
  15. A pic of one of the last 6spd RAM single plate kit's from MGCycle. Wish I'd documented a bit better when I did the swap. One difference is clear. The friction plate. Mine is a three arm deal like the one shown here http://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=193&products_id=3117
  16. DNA testing is interesting. We've done it for all our (mutts) dogs. Already knowing 3 - 400 years of my "analog" ancestry, I hadn't considered it for myself. Going back 40+k years ... might explain a few things though It was $70 for a dog, how much for a cave man? (I had thought of sending my own dna in - as a dog - just for kicks)
  17. This describes me. But for Shoei GT Air, and Held
  18. Very Nice. Wish I could have been with ya!
  19. lovely bike metticco... very interesting exhaust system. not seen it before. I clicked on http://it.tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2h2ha82&s=5 and it shows the other side as the same. Low CG, but is it too quiet??
  20. welcome Bigwig. Congrats on the new LM. As stated, shifting "pains" are common with the bikes. Linkage tuning is usually all it takes to smooth it out like butter. Either external, with cleaning, lube, and adjustments, or (and) internal - the transmission shift pre-selector plate, which will most likely 'eventually' need a going through with an updated pre-selector spring, and some finessing of the arm, etc. Don't be shocked, all the answers are here on the forum.... someplace start here ...
  21. You can get tracking outside US. It just cost more for an optional level. I shipped 2 wheels to Tokyo and it was tracked to delivery. I was amazed at the speed as well (12 days) considering the USPS. It did cost nearly $200. tho.
  22. Awesome project Rich! Thanks for sharing... and doing.
  23. I shudder to think of the ship cost to UK from US, but I have one if it comes to that. PM if interested
