Best Relay

Got a lot of useful info off this site so here's a possible contribution.

Another relay, Britax 35 amp four pin and 25/30 amp five pin sealed with resistor.

Available in Aus and NZ at least from any auto electrical shop.

Tried OEX and number five failed after 2000km.

Currently have Britax 5 pin in number 1 and four pin in 2 and 5 only 300km to date

No hesitation under 3000rpm even though you shouldn't but you do sometimes in traffic.

Was occasional hesitation before OEX failed and difficult starting a couple of times.

Engine just stopped at 120 km/hr when it failed.

Carry spares, I had one, easy fix.

Starts well and consistently hot or cold and runs superbly again.

Original fuel pump between the cylinders, starts hot at 32 deg C ambient.

Good find, POMINNZ! This looks to be a rated high current micro relay (although "Made in China", so carry spares):

Britax RM4-1235R

I found them online at https://www.ozautoelectrics.com/britax-c-over-micro-relay-12v-25-30a-5-pin-n-o-resistor-type.html for $8.00 (which I am thinking is Australian dollars).

I emailed DigiKey. We shall see where this goes from here. Thanks, again, swooshdave, for the notice.

For the rest of y'all having put this off . . . get 'em while you can! :luigi:

DigiKey replied immediately. None of the alternatives are acceptable. The only one with the correct "Micro-ISO" terminal arrangement is only rated 10A/NC - 20A/NO. That is not the High Current the V11 requires in the critical positions.

Like I said, get the High Current OMRON Micro-ISO G8HE relays while you can.

Otherwise, who is running the Britax 35 amp relays?

Awesome, man!

Seriously, folks: The Best Twenty-five US Bucks that you can spend on your V11!   I've seen High Current relays solve soooo many problems that we have chased from one end of this bike to the other for years-and-years.

Get 'em while you can!  :oldgit:

What about us “living-easy” folks?

Do we still need the 30a contacts?

Definitely in position #5, but why not just do them all?

So many of the relays that have been foisted upon us are under-rated or have poor quality control. Use a well rated, High Current relay + full set

Thanks, I ordered 3.  Don't ask me why it's a Boy Scout thing.....

I so get that.

But why not all five?

(Yeah, I asked "why" anyway . . . . )
