  1. Peering at a fuse box in a Scottish factory, he said: β€œIt looks as though it was put in by an Indian.” He later backtracked: β€œI meant to say cowboys.” ...I remember well the media beat up outrage at this infamous Prince Philip quip - but the deft recovery reported a few days later made it all the more infinitely hilarious - an absolute classic!! He was a great irreverent wag - the Queen will miss that for sure! End of an era HRH.

  2. Connect stereo speaker leads to the PC545 and feed Johnny Winter into it. All the conditioning the battery can stand.

  6. As a Canadian, the monarchy has always been a part of my world and life as well. Prince Philip was always the calm steady rock in the background, and carried himself with dignity and class. It would be nice to think that society and the media could emulate him and rally their support around the Queen when she needs it most.

  11. That's a personal choice imo. Some on the forum still run the alm flywheel, and some have replaced. I ran mine 13000 mi before I replaced it. It had no problems... just the one in my head. I got tired of the worry. I finally bit the bullet and did it myself. I am not a tech. I am a hobbyist mechanic. My greatest encouragement to do the job was this forum support and the realization that many tech's were probably more likely to f it up than I was. If I had had a tech I trusted I would have paid to have it done. My job turned out fine. I read all the threads, consulted a few members when I got stumped, and got to fix the nasty engine paint at the same time. I do know a shop now that I trust for something I can't handle, 100 mi. away in Cincinnati. Whatever you decide, find some Guzzi friends nearby.

  12. Yes. It is commonly accepted knowledge that the stock air box is preferred. Guzzi put a lot of work into making the flow optimal, a long time ago. It's not just a box, it's an integral piece of the intake system. It is surely the 'tuner friendly' way to go. That said, Dr. John Wittner, who was instrumental in development of the spine frame, succeeded in putting Guzzi back in the racing limelight for a short time in the 80's, certainly used V stacks on at least some of his bikes. It can be done right, I just don't care enough to do it. I'd be interested in reading anyone's outcomes using pods if they care to post them.

  13. If no fluid leaking then it must be air in the line. Pump the lever over and over again till something happens. It should get some resistance. As soon as you feel any pressure, bleed it of air.

  14. When I checked, the reservoir was filled - no air space. So, I drew some fluid off and ran through a few cycles. Nope. Surely, replacing the entire hydraulic system and clutch will fix it but... Here is the parts schematic from This Old Tractor: https://www.thisoldtractor.com/mg_manuals/spare_parts_catalog_v11-sport_v11-lemans_v11-rosso-corsa_2012-02.pdf Takes a while to load as it is a graphic and text-rich PDF. It seems that, lacking a fluid leak, air in the system would be the only likely (not the only possible) cause of the behavior. OP bridge, have you change out levers for aftermarket? Just curious.

  15. Hopefully someone who knows what they're talking about will be along shortly, but for now examine the whole lever plunger assembly and make sure it is moving and releasing freely. Iirc there is a plunger that can stick and the fluid goes through some type of bypass. If it's never been bled, that may be worth considering. ps I think there is a special place in h*ll for the guy that dreamed up the hydraulic clutch idea and thought he was fixing a problem, jmo

  16. Similar to what my '04 did when I last rode it. Except that the lever would return slowly and the clutch would drag, almost killing the engine at a stop. So, as it warms up, I guess some slave cylinder bleeding is in order. I just hope that I do not have to remove the motorcycle from the engine in order to do so.

  17. Turning down the end of the pushrod is a 2 minute job. It's not the feel of engagement I'm interested in it's the better shifting and faster engine response. The Guzzi now feels more "Ducati" in the response to the throttle which is only a better thing. You don't need to roll the throttle anymore during a downshift, just flick it and the engine responds immediately. Makes downshifts far better and also much better on the upshifts as well. Ciao

  18. I don't quite understand this. Do you mean any bike Guzzi come up with needs to better the Guareschi bike? If so then thats not a valid position. Anyone with the fabrication skills can come up with a motorcycle that is basically a "track day" bike only. It's doesn't need to meet any road bike criteria of any kind whatsoever and on top of that this particular bike with it's mile long wheelbase, shaft drive and weight would get it's arse handed to it in a competitive race track situation by a decent rider. If you like this sort of narrow focus bike, fair enough but it can't be compared to a bike that needs to meet road regulations, emission regulations and be fit for mass production and sale to the general public. The Guareschi bike also uses an old air/oil cooled engine that won't pass euro5 emission regs. In other words this bike is pretty much a show pony for a very narrow motorcycle niche market. The real genius in motorcycle sports bike design is designing a package that can be cutting edge on a race track and yet saleable and street rideable to the average road rider even if he can't use anything like it's full potential. In other words the devils in the detail as usual. The modern hyper sports bike is an amazing piece of engineering. Ciao
