Which is cheaper , an oil change or an engine rebuild ? We were w/o electricity for about 30 days one winter , I changed the oil daily on a 8500w generator. This was a small gas powered generator and I was taking NO chances . I have never seen an engine failure from frequent oil changes . On that bike , I would do oil changes every 2500 and oil/filter changes at 5k. You better get accustomed to how tight to get a filter. I have a great oil filter wrench from SnapOn and I will get the part # . OK ,it is a SnapOn OFCA 1 or OFCA 2. The only way to go !4 points

I'm eager to welcome this impeccable Griso into the stable. She'll be elbowing-out my Nero Corsa, which will be for sale momentarily. Update: The Nero Corsa is likely sold. I'll post an ad if that changes.2 points

Oh for fucks sakes. Yeah, believe it. Then look at where the torque and horsepower graphs cross. There are also huge problems with crankcase pressurisation and oil expulsion if you increase the swept volume of the motor. I do tire of this bullshit.1 point

To make yourself an ignition system for one cylinder of this bike. Remove the wiring from the - side of an ignition coil . Take a push button switch and jumper a 0.25mfd capacitor across the pushbutton switch. Install about 2' of wire onto each side of this switch. Run one lead to a GOOD known ground and the other lead to the - side of the ignition coil . Remove the spark plug wire and plug it on a good known spark plug touching a good known ground . You can use a spark tester from a tool truck or mower shop. W/the ign. key on , look for 12v on the + side of the coil. If this is good, then take the pushbutton and push it and release it . This will be your substitute ignition system. You get spark and you have a good coil and (almost) a good ignition system. This means your problem is with the bikes ignition system . Try this out and report your findings. Meanwhile I will be thinking.1 point

That the pump stops doesnt always mean it build pressure, it is controlled by the ecu and goes a specific time when the ignition is switch on1 point

Yes, it is. I have been fiddling with the ignition for a while now. Somehow, the spark seems a bit weak now (not before) and the left side is not always sparking. I am currently away from home for work, but when I get back, I will investigate further. So far it seems like the problem is most present on the left cilinder. When changing the ignition CDIs, coils (plus leads/caps) and even the pickup, the problem remains on the left side the most. I will have to re-investigate the ignition parts & wiring from the start when I get back.1 point

As I was recently looking for rubbers to go on the foot pegs of my Quota, I came across this from Revzilla; they are shown as out of stock; I am sure you could possibly place an order. https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/mfw-vario-passenger-footpeg-mounts-moto-guzzi-v11?sku_id=10006521 point

Bryan called earlier this evening, and followed with an email, to confirm we are set for 301; in Friday, out Sunday. Now to convince our travel agent that yes, we -- i.e., my Perfect Pillion & Polish Princess -- want to go to Poland at (about) that time, but not at that exact time! FWIW, have touched base with some Polish Guzzisti to meet with while there. Bill1 point

Bryan, the innkeeper, tells me Building 3 is fully reserved while rooms in 4 (above the garage), and 2 (above the gameroom by the pavilion) are still available. He is leaving the Basic Rooms in Building 1 available to the public (but y'all could reserve there, as well). Remember to specify a garage space if so desired. (It's where The Action is! )1 point

Thanks for the nudge. Have been busy for weeks (and still am) with MGTD '24 prep ... and making sure I use all of Kathi's energy in that before she launches for Seattle tomorrow. She's not about to stay around for the belching, snoring, and BS session that MGTD is. Anyway, just reserved our stay, and asked for 301 again. Bill1 point

Wow! That's some incentive! But as I explained to Docc in a PM; it's a bit tricky to plan a trip to the States this far ahead. And when I'm there I'd like to extend my vacation a bit to explore the SE of the US.1 point

After a year, my Shin Etsu treated original chin pad still never dried out, whitened, or greyed. I retreated it today, but could not see any significant change even after a year. This special grease has totally checked out for our early tank chin pads (and the seat cowl bum stop)!1 point

I've used that product (not on the Chin Pad) and not been impressed by how the materials look and feel once they "dry out." There is a thread where members posted their favorite "rejuvenation" products. I've just never experienced outcomes on "rubber" and polymer/"plastic" like this ShinEtsu grease.1 point
